Yo, i'm mad i haven't been able to romance a Krogan yet. 4 of these games, with 3 brilliantly written, voice acted, and unique krogans, and not one is available for romance. if ME4 is supposed to release 2022 (hopefully later for maximum quality) i want a krogan romance partner dammit.

Seriously, everyone who says that Andromeda doesn't offer enough character development and/or interactions probably hasn't played the game up until the movie night.
I love the shit out of Mass Effect 1, it's still my favourite game in the series but compare this to some random elevator talks and you know who the winner is.
I feel like the two strongest points Andromeda has to offer are the combat, I enjoy the freedom and fluidity, and the characters. Which, honestly, is the best foundation to move forward on, I can handle a meh story if I have some friends in this virtual realm I wanna see.
Aizawa Sensei I agree, the combat is a lot more fun than a gears of war styled corridor shooter and the characters develope quite a lot quicker than previously.
I'd also add the exploration theme which i always enjoy.
I played 99% (missing 1% due to Nomad Shield Crafting bug) and paid attention throughout. Andromeda DOES offer too little character development given its plot and size. Which isn't so bad, but they also tried to have the ship a 'family' throughout the game when that only really STARTED to work RIGHT near the end/post-ending. One word I can describe the game's writing is 'try-hard'. That doesn't mean its all bad, but it does mean that I was disappointed compared to all previous games. That said, I'll give it another chance after all updates and DLC considered, as that may add side-game and post-game layers to everything. And indeed, sure, I can say its at least a better deal than ME1, but ME1 was also a decade ago and I can't compare them equally. There's a lot of good concepts at play, I just think they more than stumbled at these concepts.
I think a next game should not necessitate 'jetpacking' (literally or figurative in combat design) but continue it as a now fleshed out feature of the combat. Just like MEA in general, I'd like a tightening up to have something more polished but still in a relatively open capability that the Frostbite generation can allow. DAI had this mistake too, where all the DLC was handled better in terms of polish and knowing when to draw things down, and when to open it up. I hope the DLC combat of MEA has us doing a little less zipping around (the maximum point being the Architect/final fight, god..) and more pushed to explore various other styles (sniping from up top, stealthing, throwing things around, pushing right in, etc) instead of 'zip around over and over and you'll be the best'. Keep the jetpack, I'm glad it fit the theme of expanding part having to duck and cover all the time (which ME3 only started to do, and ME1 had its own more failed version of), but let us see how much more varied and intriguing your exploration and combat systems can be. But I knew base MEA was going to be a jetpack-fest as soon as early trailers. When Bioware has a new feature, of course they are going to push it hard and then later either drop it or ease up on such focus on it (even down to the concept of the ME3 MP, where they tried to tie it uncomfortably into how ME3 ending would happen, then realized the mistake..).
Malcolm Swoboda I can certainly see where you are coming from but considering how there are now crew dialogues during the Nomad ride as well as on the ship and in a chatroom on board of the Tempest I think the family theme wasn't that bad a fit.
Sure there is some filling in of the blanks at play but I felt it was heavily suggested that the crews have a life outside of Ryder's presence as well which didn't happen in Mass Effect up until Mass Effect 3. All the talk about playing and losing against Gil for example.
What I will say is that for a game that is all about exploration, there isn't much actual exploring going on as far as quests go.
Part of what made Mass Effect 1 so great is that you only found the coolest quests and dialogues when you spent a LOT of time talking to your squadmates and driving around in the Mako.
Now everything is on the questlog and has a quest marker which kinda takes away from the fun of finding it on your own.
I agree on the gameplay part, there could be a bit more variety though i had a lot of fun just punching and charging my way through the combat sections.

Ash00 00 wouldve preffered wrex. but Drack is ok. ive accepted his role. as well as MEA is in a different galaxy, and MEA starts long after the reapears were defeated, and the milky way saved. still. I miss wrex and grunt.

The movie nights are the best parts of the game
agreed, wish the cutscene for it was longer tho, i mean it is a long ass chain quest to get to this point
The only ones even remotely interested in the movie are Cora,suvi,lexi,vetra,kallo,and maybe jaal,but that's only because he doesn't know what the fuck is supposed to be going on

I tell you 4 years after the premiere: yeas they are. They are nice most of the time. Sometimes ultra woody, but they're fine. I think BW can't do more, unless they make the animation from the beginning again

It's when you romance someone who isn't on the Tempest or no one.
You get Drack when you haven't "locked in" a romance on the tempest or are romancing someone who isn't part of your crew.

No. Reyes is a 'sidemance' that is neither on your squad or crew, but recognized as a romance otherwise. He is noted in later parts of the game but if you want high Reyes-ness, hope for more in future content (DLC/games). Given the very positive response to the character (except for a minority of players or more specific critiques about how he was handled), I wouldn't even be surprised he's made a companion in a 'MEA2'. Its not like he can die in MEA. I romanced Reyes and got Drack in this scene, as Reyes has his own, very contained (only Kadara arc and the ending) thing.
