    Here's my survival plan.
    1)Know how to make beer. Check.
    2)Tell people who are about to kill me "wait...I know how to make beer."

      That's a great tip i never heard before. Proving yourself usefull to others is a great way to avoid conflict and gain allies.
      Only a fool would kill someone who otherwise would be a usefull ally.

      Jaja!! Sounds like a plan, but I think the reply you'll get will be something along the lines of "Good for you now give me your wallet and cellphone or I'll shoot you in the fking face!".

      That's a pretty shitty plan " I know how to do something that takes weeks and requires special ingredients that I don't have.....please don't shoot me"! Sorry if I want beer I can rob a liquor store or I can rob you and buy the beer I'm certainly not going to wait on a bottle of pruno.

      Lovely Video clip! Excuse me for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Saffebbi Subconscious Smasher (do a search on google)? It is a smashing one off product for discovering how to protect your family during a crisis without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my work buddy finally got amazing results with it.

    You must live in some very nice, safe place Tomas. Where I come from, me and several other people that I know would have been killed had we not been armed. Some of us have killed in self defense. One of us was killed, ironically becasue he wasnt armed that day. There's no monster, there's no evil gun lobby, there's just people. Most are good, some are very bad and would gladly cause harm to you. You have a right to go down on your knees, I have a right to defend myself and my loved ones.

    I love these guys with the "go bag" unless my house is destroyed I am not going anywhere, where am I going to to live in the damn woods? why should I, I have a well that gives me water, shelter..etc If the power goes out I hand pump the well. Still have the shelter. Take my Go bag with my AR15 ammo all my other crap, u have to be kidding. Even If the house is destroyed I can probably cobble together a shelter with the debris and I still have my well that's water and that's a lot to give up. Never mind if your on your own property its my own firewood and legally your already in the right regarding trespassers etc. I dont live in a flood / hurricane or tornado zone. Beats the heck out of wandering around the country side. Oh by the way I love these guys with 50 guns ah u only have two hands. If u live in a flood, Hurricane, fire area first thing move the hell out of there the people in New Orleans live under sea level, they are stupid, same in a tornado area move the hell out, mudslide, move the hell out.... would you purposely move into a high crime area...think about it. The first bug out is not to live in any of these areas.

    People forget that sleep is one of the most important survival priorities. You can go 3 minutes without air, 3 hours exposed to extreme elements, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food. But if you go 3 days without at least 4 hour of solid sleep a day, you will slowly fall apart, especially in a bug out situation.

    He's right. I have been in third world countries and it gives you a whole different perspective. He is already ahead of most people because he speaks two different languages, which gives him twice as many resources. The way to know what works and what doesn't is to have experience in places where there is no law. The best way to survive is to have like minded neighbors who are armed and willing to band together, pool resources and defend what you have. Having been in disasters I know that the bad stuff is out there, not at my home. I would not bug out unless there was no other choice.

    I think alot of people are giving this guy shit unfairly. Some of the stuff he pointed out are things that people really advocate and really are dumb. The History Channel aired a show about surviving a major disaster and showed the main characters doing the "empty house" technique to protect themselves from looters; like looters wouldn't prefer an empty house to one that potentially had an armed person in it.

      Mister Guy You seem to discard the foot in the door scenario. For many years most residents of areas such as NYC, Wash. D.C. & Chicago have had their 2A rights curtailed and eroded. There are those 'right-thinking' people in this country who are always working on ways to remove firearms from the average citizen. Get your head out of the sand.

    • @misterguy2329
      @misterguy2329 10 років тому +6

      froochie123
      That doesn't make any sense at all. Here's why:
      1. The president does not have the authority to write laws that make it illegal to smelt lead. The president doesn't write laws at all, in fact! That's what Congress does.
      2. The implication you're making is that he's removing the country's ability to supply its own ammunition. Why would the guy in charge of the military cut off the country's ability to self-arm? That makes HIM less powerful and subjects the country he lives in to foreign threats. No leader would do that, and that's ignoring point #1, which is that he CAN'T do it even if he wants to.
      3. "Buying all the ammunition" means INCREASING DEMAND for ammunition in economic terms. That makes the economic value of ammunition go UP, which means there's MORE incentive to produce it.
      So the entire argument you just made essentially requires a lack of understanding of how the US government is set up, and how economics works, not to mention that it ignores that it's not in anyone's best interest, the president included, to do that. It makes ZERO sense, there's no reason that would happen. But hey, let's assume I'm wrong on all three points, or Obama and all of Congress have gone clinically insane. Can you prove that what you just said is actually happening? What hard data do you have? Because if you have no data, then that means you just made it up.

    I think he has good points. But every situation is different so I think when he says being knowledgeable or making an informed decision covers most situation. I have taught martial arts for over 25yrs. Does that mean I can or will be able to disarm an attacker all the time. NO! Their are no guarantees in this world. But does my knowledge give me better odds yes. And I totally agree with this guy about having a knife over a gun. EVERY TIME I hear some person that owns a gun tell me or someone else they can take a person out faster with there gun than someone with a knife I almost want to go and do one of those "COULD HAVE HAD A V8 SLAPS ON THERE HEAD" Yeah they could if they knew I was coming 20 yards away and they knew I was a threat. Any experienced attacker knows the number one rule. And that is how to get in close. That means, playing innocent people. knowing how not to seem like a threat. That's like thinking because your taller than the other person your going to be the winner in a fight. In all the fights I ever had in my life it was the small guys or the guy that seemed the most harmless that gave me the worst problems. The big ones were the easiest to take down. Don't EVER under estimate a person that looks non threatening. And do what you feel is best for you. Not everyone can survive in a forest. Especially people that never have even gone camping. You'll be dead inside a week or less. Always prepare your survival training in the environment you know the best. Your odds will be no worse or better. Of course everything depends on the situation, Your knowledge. And above all "LUCK!"

    • @00LTCharles00
      @00LTCharles00 10 років тому +5

      Good point - people seem to think that forest survival is easy because our "less intelligent" ancestors could do it. Obviously they've never tried it. Some even think that they'll "surthrive" in such a scenario with little more than cursory alterations in diet and routine.
      Don't be deceived.
      You will be afraid.
      You will be sick.
      You will be lonely.
      You will be hungry.
      You will be on the razor's edge of life and death on a daily basis, and insanity will be one more rustle in the brush away.
      People are far too soft, myself included.

    • @gmanbelieves6513
      @gmanbelieves6513 10 років тому +1

      ME too! :) I hate to say it but I wouldn't make it more than a week IF I WAS LUCKY and even if a person could survive , remember in a lot of cases you may have family or friends tagging along that may not know how to survive and can't handle a life altering life experience or extreme environment change such as having to survive in the outdoors. Granted the woods give you a better chance for be able to isolate yourself and a others, IF you know what your doing and know how to use nature to your advantage. But if you have never been in the wilderness on a regular basis and don't know how to survive on the land than your best chance of survival is staying in your environment that you know best and know all the ends and outs of the place and surroundings. If you feel you can't defend yourself in that environment then find a place and research it out and learn everything you can about defense. Unfortunately no one can teach you how to take a life. People can train you and brainwash you into thinking you can but until you are in that position you will never know. The best you can do is keep training yourself and family members for as many scenarios as possible and hope that time never comes that any of you have to defend yourself or worse take a life. And if you have a gun make sure you teach everyone around you how to use that gun PROPERLY!!!. But I still would go for the knife before the gun. But the more options the better.

    • @00LTCharles00
      @00LTCharles00 10 років тому

      ***** "Luck", or rather Divine Providence, has a good deal to do with whether or not you survive a situation.
      And as great men of our past said, "God helps those who help themselves." So train, prepare, and pray, and you need fear no man.

    • @00LTCharles00
      @00LTCharles00 10 років тому

      ***** Statistically speaking, you are more likely to pass a test if you know the material.
      But I've randomly marked answers on tests and passed before; a reasonable person must assume that there are outliers even *without* Divine Providence. With, it is perfectly plausible that unlikely persons would survive the catastrophic events which we are discussing.
      So you are, of course, correct that skill is more visibly important than "luck", but it would be premature and presumptuous to underplay the Hand of God and the alterations of minute variables.

  • @edi9892
    @edi9892 10 років тому

    I understand the *shutters down* in certain situations.
    1) you don't want to let everyone see what you got and how many you are
    2) in the groundfloor it makes tresspassing a little more difficult.
    Also the *bug-out-bag* can have its reason. Leaving without plan is no option, but if your house gets destroyed (fire, earthquake, pillaging), you might still have the chance the take your rucksack and run. A bugout vehicle might be even better, but the car could get lost the same way as your house. The idea is not to rely on it but if you have to leave fast know how you take your most important things with you. This is especially true for war.

    At least Les Stroud's program, 'Survival Man', is more realistic and has some basis in fact. And, where ever he goes he brings in locals to give advice on edible plants, animals, weather patterns, etc. he is very open about how important local Intel is.

The gun control laws here are a nuisance, but they should not be a problem for anyone who is not a felon and who has never been involuntarily committed to a mental institution. I have listened to this guy on the radio. He knows his stuff after experiencing economic collapse in Argentina. This is practical advice gained from "experience." The legal concepts espoused work in the U.S. as well. You must have a reasonable fair of death or great bodily injury to use lethal force and you may no longer use lethal force once the threat has abated, i.e., you can not shoot your attackers if they are fleeing and the threat against you is over.

It is both re-assuring and encouraging to see other people that are both aware and preparing for the coming winter. I recently toured Mexico and could not believe how identical the television programming and advertising were to what is shown in the USA. The empty house thing. Sure, if there's a SINGLE HOUSE on a road, regardless of whether or not it seems abandoned or occupied, they'll be visiting it. Regardless of whether they're "bad guys" or not. However, in a neighborhood, where there are buildings every say 50-100 feet, you see houses that are huge and pretty and well kept and then you see one that looks run down.
    If these people are looking for shelter and security, any house is up for game. If these people are looking to loot and pillage, all may be up for game, but they'll go for the fancier houses, or the well kept ones.
    Abandoned house and occupied house means nothing in the type of situation where SURVIVAL is the most important thing. Why? Because an abandoned house will attract people that don't have weapons, whereas an occupied flashy house will attract armed survivors, demanding their share of the safety and comfortable house.
    Which would you rather run into? Neither, sure, but if you had to choose? You're more likely to run into non-violent/weaponless people with a more abandoned looking house.
    Regardless, just because you make it look abandoned doesn't mean you get rid of locked doors/windows, or not fortifying it.
    As for your bug out location situation, it's COMPLETELY stupid. You sound like you're not from a first world country, so that may apply to you. But a BOL is usually well picked. Hidden, WAY out of the way, way out in the woods, mountains, etc. They're chosen due to lack of normal traffic, they're chosen because even if shit hits the fan, people escaping won't be anywhere near it.
    Sure people who have a BOL based on tents in a national park are naive, but that's not all the common from what I've seen. Those "types" tend to have their own mobile BOL, where it's movable and easily hidden and rooted down.
    You had plenty of valid points for most everything else. But for those two statements, you didn't have well thought out. Just thought you should hear a different side about it.

  • @One_Call_System
    @One_Call_System 8 років тому +1

    In the beginning of an event, I believe having an "empty looking house" is definitely wrong. If things get real bad and all the empty houses are already looted, that is when people start looking for those houses that are occupied. So the advice is different for different timeframes in an event.

    It is one of the best sources of negative ions to be barefoot on the Earth however, in a survival situation, footwear would most certainly be optimal. The amount negative infectious of fungus, mold, microbes etc. that you could acquire outweighs any positives that being barefoot does. The last thing you want when surviving is worrying about extraneous physical problems

    Most importantly, decide if more people will slow you down or if they will be of benefit to you. When you consider the enemy or enemies in question, what is the best way to handle them? Use tactics that are less modern and more ancient. Survival is key in all given situations. Do not think before action except when necessary to do so. If you have people who are clear headed, send them out to check for defenses or if there are any living environments not occupied by insurgents or enemies.

    Rather than don't bring a knife to a gun fight, a better summation would be (In a lethal fight) to have the most lethal (or in a nonlethal fight, the most legally and tactically appropriate) tool in your hand that you are trained with at the onset of the fight. (Doesn't have the same ring to it though) Unfortunately, as you mentioned, having the tool in hand in a defensive situation is not always legally or tactically practicable.

    I totally agree with the bugging out to the mountains being stupid. Especially in climates which have snow.
    in a city they say to make your house look like its been looted already,....they do not say: make your house look like its free to occupy.
    Not sure if most of these tips are in context.
    different situations require different responses.
    There is no set list of rules, its common sense based on the situation and real experience which gets you through.

    I think having a bug out location is ok. It's a big country with lots of nooks and crannies. Just make sure it's somewhere other people are not easily going to find. I'm planning on getting a cheap piece of land with no visible driveway and putting a small cabin deep into the property. It's a good day's drive from any major city, and in a bug out scenario I expect major roadways to be jammed, so I'm not too worried about anyone finding it, other than local hunters, of which there are not many.

    In 1934 you had to have a Fed Agent at location of your safe deposit box
    to open it, so they could check for gold. Only 1 recorded person was ever prosecuted
    under the confiscation law and he was only placed on probation. No one

      Alexandre Ginnsz the bank is required to file documentation of the transaction with the government. Of course the transactions are not illegal, however, depending on the specifics, it could raise some flags. I think that the documentation requirement for transactions for $10,000+ began during that idiotic "war on drugs" nonsense. Though I could be mistaken about that.

    Knife vs Gun depends entirely on surprise and the temperament of the attacker. Sure, if a guy suddenly produces a knife and sprints towards you at 7 yards and you have a handgun in a holster, you are in trouble, but that knife will do next to no good if you have a gun in your hands (again, this depends on temperament of the attacker but the attacker WILL take bullets before closing and possibly die) or if you are with someone else when attacked. Of course this also applies if YOU had the knife.

  • @Kiba69420
    @Kiba69420 11 років тому

    General rule of thumb... you have about 3 seconds to react to the knife threat at 10 feet away. If he gets within arms length of you, the odds are more the enemys favor and you would have to resort to hand to hand combat, or hope to get a lucky shot off while you are fending off a sharp object that hes got with a firm grip... as you try to remain in control of your weapon... Because if he manages to get the weapon from your hands... you are the one shot.

    All good advice. When I was a kid my father taught me some basic wood survival techniques, and when I watch these survival shows on tv I cringe. Now I don't claim to be an expert, but proper foot protection is critical to being in the woods. Keep your feet warm and dry, and walk with caution. Think about where you are, and what you are stepping on or in will significantly reduce the likelihood of injury. Try not to jump or run - carefully do everything. Everything you said is common sense.

    Conceal carry classes are normally carried out in the states at 21 feet for a reason. It was estimated that at 21 feet the average healthy person can attack in 1.5 seconds. So if you are carrying a weapon you have 1.5 seconds from 21 feet away to draw and fire before they are in contact with you. I would be willing to bet most CCW/CHL people don't practice enough to draw and fire in that given time.

To make things worse if everyone in USA suddenly starts bagging meat by hunting, game will be hard to find in a matter of days, the deer population reduced to dangerous levels in a matter or weeks. Has happened before, I believe it happened in some pars of US during the 30's becuase of the depression.

    A couple good things to think about. A trained and committed knife fighter can do an amazing amount of damage in a surprisingly short amount of time.
    Empty house: well if you have supplies in a situation without rule of law I wouldn't pretend to be abandoned but I would not advertise that I had food and backup power (maybe use a candle or two so I look like everyone else). Light discipline and cook inside. This is from a suburban prepping perspective.

    Most peoples who live in/are native to the jungle do not wear shoes. But I get your point. Probably the first thing I would do if I was in the middle of the jungle naked is make a fire. I'm not hiking through the jungle except in my immediate camp site.
    Most people think that survival means catching a rabbit in a twitch up snare. Your priorities should be
    1) Defense
    2) First aid
    3) Shelter (if exposed to harsh elements)
    4) Fire (if water is suspect)
    5) Water
    6) sleep
    7) food

    Actually most countries have abandon towns/cabins/forest station..ect. that people know nothing about, bugging out to an old mining town/ghost town isn't a bad idea especially if you know where a close fresh water source is. With a gas powered generator, and portable heater and hot plate.[you can set up camp anywhere in doors out of the Environment Wind/cold. Old transfer tunnels usually have storage rooms and are underground[much less likely to have anyone find you[have an escape route if other's do come], campfire's mean restocking wood, and the chance of being spotted especially at night. So if you are caught outside find a ravine/river or valley to make your fire. Keep the fire small as not to be detected. A high powered cross-bow will allow you to strike first without being heard vs gun, and will give you higher change of survival if your up against a group. Also a bow/cross-bow will allow you to hunt for food, as gun will leave you open to detection. This is a scenario for a family or small group. Large groups can create camps and post guards to watch, but large groups are hard to feed and safety is not insured and you'll likely end up with people doing bad stuff to other's and just standing there makes you just as guilty. Hopefully no one ever has to worry about the shit hitting the fan, but I have to wonder how many people who live in cities have actually looked at a map and looked at the best route out of town. I have two, one is woodland trails; bicycles are great as they are quiet and a person on foot is going to have a hard time catching someone on a bike. The other planned route is Train tracks, they are off the beaten path and only cross a few roadways. And always lead straight of out the city in either direction.

    The abandoned house one and distance = safety ones in particular. Those remind me of the typical scary movie scenario where someone chases a woman, and she runs into a dark ally. LOL
    If I have to walk at night, I pick the busiest street in town, which is usually empty anyway, and I walk the double yellow. I have one finger on my pepper spray and one on my cell. This won't work in a SHTF situation, but it works as long as people still think things are ok.

    home, knowing that their is potential help as well as guaranteed supplies of some kind, that will most likely be usable, rather than spoiled food or broken items that could be in an abandoned house. Some may go to the abandoned for safety, but they wont be able to tell until inside if there is others who might harm them, where as they know there is at least on in the occupied house, so they could prepare to defend themselves upon entering if needed. 6. I completely disagree with this statement.

    Just a few problems. Suppressors are really hard to come by, and making them from scratch is considered a felony. Second, not everyone has access to firearms. Third, while a single bullet can hinder your ability to move, you are not dead yet. Fourth, there's a chance of escape. Just take cover behind something solid, and work it from there.

    That would be in a situation in which you can actually see and predict the movement of your assailant. So yes, at "medium" range and beyond, you'll probably win against a knife user. However, I can guarantee you that for the most part, your usual self-defense|combat scenario will be at distances inferior to 5 meters. If someone wanted to kill you with a knife, they would not be that stupid as to charge at you with it. They would close the distance, and strike you when less expected.

    Simple answer Tomas: Criminals are often heavily armed. We prepare with military-equivalent weapons for the same reasons that law enforcement officials do: Because many of us have already received extensive training with them, and because criminals are acquiring and using ever more powerful weapons.
    Police used to only carry 6-round revolvers. They had to abandon those and adopt high-capacity pistols, tactical shotguns, and automatic weapons for the same reason.

    Distance does in fact mean safety against most if not all dangers. at least to a higher degree than being right up on it or even in the "suburbs" which is a little away from it. Yes, some individuals will take comfort in their solitude and distance, therefor dropping their guard, to a degree. However, most individuals that actively choose to move out there, do so with the intent of being self reliant. they tend to think of everything needed to survive, including security.

    The only problem is that once martial law is declared and we are under an invasion, a person does not think about this list. Natural instinct is sometimes the best approach because if you keep your head the rest will come to you. Most of the wars that Americans fought in the past were not strategized tactics, they were spur of the moment. Secondly, travel lightly, use weapons that can not be heard by trained ears, plan several moves ahead.

    this is bad, he criticizes all of these "good idead on paper" by analyzing them on paper, 1 Yes the handgun vs rifle is a no brainer obviously a handgun is more concealable and a rifle is a better weapon. Getting training good advice, 2 Yes Knife VS gun is also true within 20ft a guy with a knife is at an advantage to a guy with a gun in a holster. and the closer you get the better off the guy with the knife is. drawing aiming and shooting within 1.5 seconds from a holster is a good target time, add adrenaline of a guy charging you with a knife and that 1.5 sec is fast. 3 No bad vid advice, Throwing stuff is obviously not a first line of defence or your immediate plan in any situation, but closing the distance by throwing whatever you can at someone is a viable tactic if you have no other options. What do you do if someone just gently tooses you something and you dont see it until the last second, catch it? maybe the occasional reflex will let you do amazing things, but take silverware, plates, cups whatever else and throw them as hard as you can at someone will make them instinctively protect themselves. rasing your arms to protect your face is a instinctive and automatic reaction and could allow you to escape the situation or mount your own attack. closing distance on someone with a gun by throwing sharp objects very hard at them will suprise the crap out of them and action defeats raction. If you have to cross a room, holding a knife in one hand and just throwing whatever you can may allow you to close the distance and take the range advantage away from the gun. 4 "empty house" yes and no completely dismissing that tactic is wrong. In a mass exodus situation an empty house will be just as a big of a target as a house "lit up like a christmas tree", the obviously occupied house may be more of a target because people KNOW you have supplies. and you cant defend your home from a hoard of people if they are determined. If you are in more of a rural area and you are the only house visible lit up, you just painted a huge target on yourself. however a blacked out house in a sea of blacked out houses in suburbia is just the ticket. If you are living on the side of a major traffic artery out of a city and people can easily see your home from the road, any massive group of people will target that home because its convenient, no amount of preperation or floodlights will stop that. Maybe a Hesco barrier wall and a couple of machine gun nests would deter people but 4 well armed people "defending" a house from an loosly armed disorganized mob is a lost cause, just by sheer volume of people you will be overran. 5 "Distance" distancing yourself from a disaster is a good tactic if its not an obviously temporary situation. The people during Katrina and Sandy who bugged out were far better of than the people who sat on the roof of there flooded homes, surrounded by polluted and disease ridden water. And skipping to 9-10 barefoot, why even have that on there ? noone sees dual survivor and decides to ditch shoes, that guy has been barefoot for decades, and he has conditioned himself to not wear shoes. Obviously the avg joe should not ditch his shoes in a disaster.

    Sorry but for the most part I thought this was not great advice.The first couple maybe but secure your house. Make sure doors and windows lock. If there is no power eventually security systems fail. If you are inside your home the simplest cheapest way to secure from the inside are simple slide locks. All most all locks , deadbolts, smart locks, can all be opened with a set of $15 bump locks.(you tube it.). Personal experience--trust me. a solor powered radio, flashlight, chargers. Yes a hand gun, yes a rifle, yes learn how to use them and have a supply of ammo, and batteries.. But if they cant get in..... Any electronic door locks can be easily hacked with a small inexpensive hacking device from the internet, including cars. Think smart. Hide your survival items smartly by disguising, so you have easy access. And have extra as bartering tools.

    A knife is not a 12 ft. sword. At contact range as you imply I've seen people with a knife win about 80% of the time or more when doing knife vs gun at contact range in force on force training. The hand with the gun gets grabbed, while the hand trying to hold the knife gets cut and in seconds the knife attacker cuts you up all over. Seems like you need to look up "Tueller Drill" so as to educate yourself better about knife, guns, and what happens at very close or contact range.
