    Hey SunRaes! Just want to clarify my video. I did go in with a deep conditioner after shampooing, however, I didn't mention it because it is not part of the kinky curly line. I was only reviewing the kinky curly line. I did want to point out though, that the shampoo does say you can go straight into the leave in from the shampoo if you want to. This is along the same line as some stylist are saying, (wash, condition, styler), but because I was unsure as to whether or not I was going to leave the conditioner in or not, I did deep condition. I hope this clears up any confusion.

      The shampoo is definitely a clarifying shampoo. It should only be used as needed, but no more than once every 4-6 weeks. If you use it more than that then you could damage your cuticle.
      *Pro tip: If the shampoo is clear then it is probably a clarifying shampoo.
      A clarifying shampoo should always be followed up by a high quality moisturizing shampoo to replenish the hair.
      Then you would follow that up with a high quality rinse out conditioner. (rinse conditioner out with warm water. Some products are temperature sensitive e.g. UFD Curly Magic)
      * Pro Tip: A Leave-in is a styler with no hold. It does not/cannot condition the hair.
      The Knot Today should be applied to soaking wet hair in the shower. Do not rinse out the knot today leave-in because it is basically the styler of this system not the custard. Knot Today also acts like a primer for the custard to adhere to.
      *Pro tip: Apply the Custard outside the shower.
      Grab your water bottle with warm water and spray the medium section. Start with a small amount of Custard then gradually add more.
      Sit under the dryer until your hair is 80%. If you live in a humid climate, 100% dry is needed.
      The Knot Today has a 7/10 for slip. Not horrible, but not amazing. Moisture comes from water, not from products. The shampoo does a better job at providing moisture to the hair.
      The Knot Today & Custard are a system and they should be used together. From a marketing perspective, it makes more sense to advertise them as products that can be used by independently. The company makes a lot more money due to overuse and misuse of these products.
      The sections that have more frizzy could be a combination of, not following up with a high quality moisturizing shampoo, not using a high quality conditioner, and rinsing the Knot Today out. That area of your hair could be naturally frizzy or that section is dehydrated. You would need to troubleshoot to see if any of what I listed were the culprit.
      Hope this helps.

    The key to these products are using both leave-in and custard on soaking wet hair. I leave the knot today in and when I use the custard before I apply it I warm it in my hands then apply. You won't lose product this way. Start with about a quarter size per section and build up if need be. Make sure to dry all the way. I never diffuse my hair because I always get frizz

    I have used this shampoo for years. It used to say "Clarifying". They simply changed the marketing label and made it a bit less drying than it was before.

    Hey Rae! I think your first day hair looks AMAZING! Kinky curly products are about the only ones I've tried that won't flake on me and that last about 5 days. This is my holy grail gel. I love how it goes on my hair and I can always count on it. It holds moisture for days. I can use any leave in. I don’t prefer the kinky curly knot today with it. The CR coconut water leave in is great. I also use either of the Adwoa leave ins.
    With the come clean, which is a chelating shampoo, I would always deep condition after. I hope you keep trying. I thought your hair looked great and hope it can work for you :)

    I didn’t really like the Knot Today at first. But….I realized that it does not contain water. So I used it as a leave in immediately after rinsing my conditioner in the shower…soaking wet hair. BAM!!!! I had curls that I didn’t know I had. This is a great base for a WmG or any time you want definition. It is filled with film forming humectants that trap the water.IMO it is not good as a rinse out or on damp hair. It just does not work. And after using it right my hydration levels remained high for longer. This is one of those magic products that have to be used in a specific way to get the benefit. No water means no slip. That’s really not the purpose. I need to market this product because the company does not do a good job, especially in the instructions.

    • @NaturalRaeRae
      @NaturalRaeRae  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for your take on the product. I have used this product several times and it is just not that good to me. I always style my hair on soaking wet hair and I almost always apply my conditioners in the shower. I only deviate if someone asked me to do a combo and the leave-in says to use on damp hair, but even then I sometimes do it on wet hair. I just feel like either you love the product or you don't...I haven't seen many people on the fence, and I tend to be on the side that don't care much for it. I am glad that you figured out how to best use it for your hair, though, and if you like it and it works for your hair, then I say keep using it. Nothing like finding a product that you really love. Thanks for tuning in.

    I love the shampoo and use it as a clarifier. Whatever product is gone after 2 washes per usual without it feeling too stripped. It doesn't add any moisture to the hair and several people have said the same...
    I use it once a month. A little goes a long way. I use a good deep conditioner with it.

    Your hair looks gorgeous!! I think a good point that this video provides is that unfortunately products work so differently on different hair types. I’ve tried a majority of the “holy grail” products and the kinky curly line works best on my 4c hair. It’s also the easiest system for me to use. My hair detangles super easy when I use this. I also like the carols daughter wash day delight rose shampoo for clarifying and conditioner. I like the As I Am cowash when my hair doesn’t need to be clarified and aunt Jackie’s don’t shrink gel for my edges. I typically wear wash and gos the last easily for 7-10 days but I typically co wash on the 5th day due to my fitness routine. I hope this might help someone. Thank you for the awesome video!

    I really think these products work better for those of us with low density and high porosity hair. The custard doesn't take as long to dry bc our hair dries out so fast anyway. I love Knot Today. It seems to seal my cuticles without weight. Both KT/CC don't have any oils but are mainly mucilage and extracts. People doing no oil no butters seem to love them for that reason. I have noticed lower porosity curlies don't rave as much about these products. The things that we like about the line are not what most higher density, lower porosity curlies need.

    Love the new intro! Girl, you are a trooper. I know you probably just want to use the product and not waste your money, but that Knot Today seems like it needs to go. I’m in the same boat trying to use it up. I definitely want to try this Shampoo as well. Try the styling custard with something else. I know I left that previously, but I’m wondering if this may work better for you in warmer months. That’s typically when I use it and am wondering if the moisture in the air helps the products to work better. I’m going to try it while it’s cool out and see if I have a different experience than I do in the warmer parts of the year. Thanks for clearing up the call out of the shampoo.

    Hi Rae, I have to tell you the Kinky Curly Knot Today and Styling Custard are my favorites. The knot today kind of coats my hair and then when the custard is added my hair has excellent definition and retains moisture and shine for the week. What I do is use a lot of water when I apply the custard. I spray each section of hair with water and then emulsify the custard in my hands before applying to each section. ( I got that tip from you!) You have to use a lot of water for the best results with each section of hair. The Camille rose coconut water leave-in also coats my hair like the Knot today but not as much. Please use more water next time and work in a good amount of the leave-in per section. I never get frizz with these products. ☀️

      Thanks for sharing your tips. I did however use lots of water, I did my hair in the shower with it soaking wet. I've tried this combo multiple times with the same results. I'm going to try it once more only using the CR Coconut water to see if it works better than the Knot Today and I am going to try it when it is a little warmer out to see if that helps. If not, then I am done. I know it works for some, but my hair just ain't vibing with it for some reason. Thanks for tuning in and trying to help me, though. Oh, glad my tip of emulsifying the product helped you.😉

      Hi Rae, last thing I wanted to mention is I use a lot of the kinky kurly knot today leave in. I coat my four sections of hair really well with it. Maybe use double of what you used in this video and see how it comes out. I think that’s the trick. You should feel that your hair is coated and the curls will start to define also. I also refresh a bit later if needed with the Camille Rose Fresh Cream. I’m so glad you mentioned that styler. It’s my favorite now for refreshing and with the knot today and their custard it’s so bomb when refreshed. Ok, I’m done now. Love your videos and all of your tips! ☀️😃

    I absolutely love the Kinky Curly Come Clean shampoo because I do have hard water and I do like the feeling of clean hair but not feeling like it’s stripped. However for my fine, very low density hair! The shampoo gets the job done! The Knot Today and the Custard I’ve revisited a couple times. I’m on my third attempt (over several years) at getting past the learning curve of the application before I give up on it again. The reason I keep coming back to it, is because I think my hair likes it, I just need to be patient. I have a problem waiting until it’s completely dry before I start to fluff out or stretch out my hair. I really feel like I really need to keep playing with it until I get it right! I believe it’s me putting too much of one of the other or not enough of one or the other! I’m not done with it yet. And thank you so much for your video. You are 100% right . The leave in has slip but it’s more like 6/10 slip . It’s meh . I have leave ins that cost less money and have more slip. The gel I like it cause I have thin hair so the gel gives me frizz but also definition which gives the illusion of big hair. I prefer it over the curl maker. people do love the curl maker and I wanted to love it too but it just flakes for me . Therefore I prefer that custard. So some stuff is not for everyone. As a leave in my hair is moisturize, lots of definition and slip this is after I deep condition my hair. For the custard my favorite, I can use just about any leave in with the custard, but you do need to use a leave in conditioner before applying with lots of water. It does not feel stick to me. I do have high porosity hair. The As I Am leave in is also my favorite. I've been using those products for years. I never tried the line just on it's own like you did.

    I also follow some wavy’s and they LOVE that leave-in. They say it doesn’t weigh their hair down- blah, blah, blah. I actually had it in my giveaway pile until I saw another of those Wavy Chicks bragging on that Knot Today Leave In. Then I started second guessing myself- ‘well, maybe 🤔 it WOULD mix perfectly with something??’ 😂😂 product junkie struggles….
    I never realized that Knot Today is also a Rinse Out conditioner
    I hate sticky products too!! 😵‍💫😵‍💫

      😂 I know the struggle, but I'm going to say that in my opinion, the leave in is not that great. If I can find a leave in that the custard can mix with, I may try that but if I can't, then these products are a "no" for me. Thanks for tuning in.

    I like the shampoo but tbh, there's definitely better out there. The leave in was a no and the custard was just OK. I'm honestly glad I got these during the sale Sally's was having awhile back because I just didn't get the hype. 🤷‍♀️

      I got mine during the $5 sale as well. The regular price is too much for them not to perform well. I like the shampoo, but I agree with you on the leave in and the custard. Thanks for tuning in.

    Yep your hair is exactly how mines look when i used it, a little frizzy and sort of dull. Tfs.

    I love this combination and I have not tried the shampoo. I wash and deep condition my hair (w heat) before styling. The leave-in provides slip for detangling my hair and yes I lose some product in the shower as well (lol). I enjoy these products especially during the summer as they do not have glycerin. My hair usually lasts for at least 5-6 days. Thanks for sharing.

    I had the same experience, minus the shampoo (never tried it). The results r defined but strangely, dull. Idk. The CR gel is very nice and gives me a nice shine, but not sure what leave in works with it. I may get another bottle after i use up the UF gel.

      It reminds me of the look I get from the Adwoa products. No matter what I try the gel or the cream with, my hair still looks dull and doesn't feel moisturized.

    I love the gel with Camille rose coconut leave in and only in the spring time. The leave in loves my daughter hair but not mine. This is me with uncle funky daughter gel it just doesn’t work for me. The shampoo is holly grail to me.

      I gave a similar style use. I use that CW leave in, top it with the style setter and then use the gel. I typically use this in spring and summer. 😊

      Ok, so everyone is mentioning the coconut water leave in. I guess that will be my next try. Thanks for watching.

    I’m a man with shorty curly hair. Not big loose curls. Tighter curls. My question is how often do you need to put product in your hair? I like low maintenance and would prefer to not apply product everyday. I think that’s possible but wanted to know what the curly hair experts think.

    • @NaturalRaeRae
      @NaturalRaeRae  Рік тому

      You don't have to put product in your hair everyday. You add products as you need them. Your hair and how you style it dictates how often you use product.

    I just started doing wash and go's and was using the Pearly Braid Out Glaze from The Mane Choice, but I wanted to try something else. I used the Kinky Curly One just like I use the other one, applying Wetline Xtreme on top, and it still came out too soft. It was shiny and the definition was there in many arease but I could tell that it was too light weight for my hair and it's not going to last long. Honestly, I'm returning it back to Target. That gel was like 18 dollars smh.

      Sorry it didn't work for you. There is definitely a learning curve to it and I haven't figured it out yet. I have one more try in me and then I'm going to be done with it too. Too expensive to keep fooling with. Thanks for tuning in.

    First thank you for your content! Heard another you tuber say that some leave in’s can make your hair dry, used knot today last evening and my hair did not feel moisturized, 2nd time buying this product don’t know if there will be a third.

    • @NaturalRaeRae
      @NaturalRaeRae  2 роки тому +1

      You're welcome, thanks for tuning in. I don't think the knot today is very moisturizing either, but I'm going to try it one more time just to use it up. After that, if it doesn't work, I'm done.

    I only used these products for about 5 years and then for some reason this year my hair is hating it. The gel is so sticky and the leave-in is not moisturizing like it used to.

      Yeah, I'm not sure what it is about these products but they just don't seem to want to work for me the way I need them to. But some people really love them. Thanks for sharing and for tuning in.

    It might be how Adwoa was for you remember you couldn’t do that on soaking wet hair and it worked better for you outside the shower on just wet hair. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don’t know at this point I’m just as baffled as you are. But nothing beats a fail but a try and you definitely tried so it’s a win 💜💜
