Not sure what you mean... It's literally explained in this video how it has Save States now, and there has been custom firmware available that enables it for the last couple years at least.
There is an error in the SGB2 info for anyone wondering why their GB/C games won't boot: the proper file names are "sgb2_boot.bin" etc with an underscore, not a space. Also, BSX bios is not required in the newest firmware (I think only the dsp bios are required).
Me too! I've had one for years and it has served me very well! It's such a cool piece of tech and a money saver if you want to take your time collecting on the side, but open yourself up to various games for your console! 👀🎮
I just get a black screen when I boot the cart. Tried 2 different SD cards formatted with FAT32, my folder structure looks the same as yours. Using official SNES Jr with authentic power supply. Regular games boot. When I launch the cart with no SD card I get the message "please insert SD card" though. Ideas?
What cart is it? Older SD2SNES or the newer FXPAK Pro (Rev.D)? If it’s the newest revision you will need the new firmware that was posted over a week ago: sd2snes.de/files/sd2snes_firmware_v1.11.0b2-RevD.zip
@@crunchsixfoe Welcome! The SD2SNES file structure can be the exact same if you’d like. I would say keep less than 200 files in each folder so that files load as fast and clean as possible.
@@crunchsixfoe Nice!!! And you’re welcome! That update is particular to your revision cart since it’s new and has some different components from what came before. The developer is actually hard at work for his next release, so this video will be invalidated in a few months. I’ll be posting an updated video once he does. 😎
That's perfect! I know at times the larger cards can trip up guiformat. However you can get it up and prepped for files is all good. I'll have to add that program to the list in my videos.
That is also a good approach! I always aim on the higher end since there are those who want EVERYTHING possible. Either way, cards up to 256GB are super cheap now. Even cheaper if just 32GB, haha!

What exactly does the In Game Buttons & Initial Holdoff options do? Just curious, not sure if I need to enable them or not as I have no clue what they do lol. Tried Googling it and nothing came up.
Do you still need all these bin files in 2024? I can't get a straight answer online anywhere. The documentation for this project is a mess and everything is spread across a bunch of different websites.
Yes, the bin files are required to run the special chip games they were used for. You can't find the files as bin files most of the time. I believe they're usually named as roms like sfc but you can remade them to the correct name and as a bin and you'll be good to go. One game I can bet that won't work without them that you can test right now is super mario kart
Im looking to buy the FXPAK pro $250 but i wanted to know if they finally added a menu via firmware update/software to enter game genie codes and or action replay Super EverDrive X5 allows game genie codes in a menu, dont know about action replay
@@RetroSho ok so with 2023 version of firmware/whatever. in order to load codes it has to be done with a text file? and then do something with the "hook" folder to turn them on and off or something? does it recognise Action replay codes?
I d/loaded the update, but it says something like the sbg_boot.bin\sgb2_snes.bin file is missing. Do I need that for the save states to work or am I missing something?
You seem to have a few extra entries that are not included in the most recent SMDB , namely NES Conversion, Special Chip Games, and Commercial. Can you point me in the right direction. Also, what are "Meri's Saves"? Thanks!
NES Conversion is a folder I created myself for Project Nested files (at 6:20). Special Chip Games folder got integrated into the main SMDB once it became HTGDB, so it's an older folder I just kept (older SMDB packs still retain this folder). Commercial is another folder I made that has a lot of the homebrew carts I have purchased and dumped over the years (doesn't exist on SMDB since they restrict games that are still in circulation). "Meri's Saves" is my lady's game saves that so she can use them for her own content creation. 😎
@@euqet01di You're very welcome my man! I'm also a details guy, so I can appreciate another when I see them! 😀 Been meaning to somehow do a video on the NES to SNES stuff, but I need to somehow do it in a way that people realize and understand that its very experimental stuff.
Hello! This is a scaling issue with your TINK5X Pro. What you'll want to do is set the phase to Auto or dial it in (keep in mind it'll effect sharpness on gameplay as well). A lot of EverDrives have this issue, but it mainly comes from the scaler vs the cart.
What's the folder structure you use? Is it like a default FXPAK Pro directory layout that it creates for itself or are you using a specific folder structure somebody made?
Awesome video, very helpful! Just ordered one and getting everything all lined up. Just one thing: I've found the bsx bios but the CRC32 value is different. Every one I find is the same value of e5a91ad4. Do you think this will be usable?
Heya my man! So it shouldn't work actually! The CRCs need to be fixed. This can be done with a Python script! 1) Make sure Python 3 is installed. (You can type "python --version" in the cmd prompt, without the quotes to see the version you have.) 2) Download the Python script here: gist.github.com/tjanas/8495647a0c80f34ec131fdb438e296cb 3) Ensure that the files you do have are No-Intro verified. They should be named "DSP1 (World) (Enhancement Chip).bin", "DSP1 B (World) (Enhancement Chip).bin" and so on. Rename each file as needed -- you can see the names they need to be in the Python script code. 4) Place all of the .bin files and the Python script in a folder of your choice. 5) Run the script via the cmd prompt (or click on the script), and they should produce the files you need. Let me know if this helps, I can always make a quick small video on how this should look! 😎
@@RetroSho Thanks for the tip man. Got all but the bsx converted to the correct CRC value. I'd certainly appreciate a video if you're inclined to do one, since this bsx value is killing me.
@@jamesb.1972 Ahh I see what ya said! Actually I think the CRC32 values for the BS-X don't matter as much, since there are many different types of files you could test and hook in. It DOES however need to be headerless (1 048 576 bytes, not 1 049 088). Please check a BIOS that is 1 048 576 bytes and check back! Lemme know. 😀
Evidently comments referencing where to get the mentioned files get removed. In that case, don't search for SD2SNES . And don't search for firmware. And definitely not 1.10.3-frs-v12. And forget about Unofficial. And for God's sake, don't search for all the terms together. You will not find everything in a single package.
It's pretty difficult to get everything all in once place without getting into some trouble. The videos are at least designed to show people what they should be looking for!
Any idea if Save States are going to continue to be fixed? Was hoping they'd be fixed by now but they are still completely broken in Dragon Quest 5 aka the latest fan translation version. Any time you load a save it breaks the game... Every once in a while u can load a save but it rarely works. Once you do if you do any sort of action the game freezes. The first thing you notice when it happens is all sound effects break. Then you take an action and boom game frozen. Very frustrating considering you kind of HAVE to use them in that game if you want to make any headway in the Casino...
Yo! No idea if save states will be fixed, but I do know the dev has been working on it all this time. He recently pushed an update to his blog talking about a new firmware for those who recently purchased an FXPro cart: sd2snes.de/blog/ I think once he pushes an update I'll make an updated video for this flash cart for 2023.
@@RetroSho Also, any way I can report this problem with the save states for Dragon Quest 5 to him? Would REALLY love it if they would be fixed for that game :)
It won't work! What you need is also alternatively named "SGB2.sfc". Run a search on Google with that name (and make sure it's CRC32 value is CB176E45), then rename it "sg2_bios.bin" for the SD2SNES. 👀
This actually worked for me. As long as the CDC numbers are the same, that's all that matters. Just change the name accordingly to what's Sho has here bur you need to have an underline and nor a space as it won't work otherwise. I finally got it sorted!
I have the correct CRC values and filenames and the FXPak Pro itself says they are okay, but they won't run any Game Boy games in my "root:/Game Boy/" folder. What gives?
@@JonLeung1 Sorry to hear. If was a bit of a stuff around for me too but I finally got mine to work. Hopefully you can get yours to work. It was a huge hassle trying though.
good night Sho, how are you? I installed this firmware and almost everything worked Fixed a bug in games with super FX chip When I run these games they crash, except super mario world 2 game. This one works normally. I also noticed that the shortcut R+L+select+X to return to the SD2SNES menu also stops working, even in super mario world 2 that runs without crashing. Now with the other games and even with the MSU-1 I've tested here, they worked well Thanks Peace
Heya my man, I'm well! How are you? First question! This is an authentic SD2SNES, yes? Not one from AliExpress? If so, then I would ask about the ROMs. Which ones are you using? Save states and shortcuts aren't fully compatible with special chip games unfortunately. Will have to wait for the formal update to the cart for that! Everything else should work solidly until then! No ETA on when the next update should arrive. 🤔 Hope this helps, my man!
1) Make sure your card is properly formatted as FAT32. 2) Add the sd2snes folder from the .zip to the root of your card. 3) Place your games on the root and not in the sd2snes folder. If you don't see them after this, I would first attempt to test another SD card with a single game, so that you can make sure the issue is with the previous card. If you still can't see any games, you might have to return the FXPAK. 🤔
Ahh! The ROMs go into a folder you create on root (name “ROMS” or whatever you’d like). You can technically place them at root, but I personally do not recommend it for this flash cart. DO NOT place your ROMs in the SD2SNES folder.
I know I have the correct Super Game Boy files (the CRCs match, the FXPak Pro itself says they are OK) - but when I choose a Game Boy ROM in the "root:/Game Boy/" folder, it just cuts to black, and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
@@RetroSho I tried an entirely different microSD card to start from scratch, used the latest beta firmware, got the correct files in the correct spots, and Super Game Boy 2 support still doesn't work. Is there something fundamental that I am overlooking?
if I already have a sd2snes with roms and an old firmware, can I just replace the SD2SNES folder with the new one to get the update or do I need to start from skratch?
Hello! Yep! If you have an old SD2SNES folder with firmware, just cut it out, and replace it with the new folder. Make sure you make a backup of the older folder to your PC just in case.
Heya my man! For MSU-1 you'll need to have the MSU data ROM, the music files (usually .pcm), and the .msu file. You'll be putting all of these files into a folder, and naming the folder to match the game name. If you search for MSU-1 downloads they usually have all of this data mostly packed for you in a .zip. Check here for a MSU-1 Getting Started Guide: www.zeldix.net/t1607-msu1-getting-started-guide And here for MSU-1 Hack Database: www.zeldix.net/f71-msu-1-hacks-database Hope this helps!
Wow i need one of these things for sure. I heard you can play some nes roms with this too is that true? Super Star Wars is probably my favorite but there are way too many great games to choose from. Oshaberi Parodious is also quite dope👍 Another great and insightful video man✌️
It's a really great cart! And you don't need to spend on the newer one if you don't want to -- the older SD2SNES will also serve just as well 👀 Playing NES ROMs is possible but it s very much in a testing phase! So assume many bugs! The person working on it just pushed a major update a few days ago so I need to check that out! Super Star Wars is soooo hard... how do you manage playing that series? 😨😨😨 The Parodius series is hilarious though, I love it! 😀🔥

I'm hoping that someone here can help me out: I have the FXPAK Pro in a Super Famicom, but all Super FX games don't work. On Starfox I can hear the music, but not see a darn thing. Doom doesn't get to the menu, just plays a brief couple of screens at startup. Yoshi's Island is a blank screen, no audio either. Stunt Race FX is the same.
Heya! Head to this link: sd2snes.de/blog/ It's actually right at the top of the blog. I don't think it's been updated on the main list due to still being considered a beta!
Thanks for the video. It really helped me a lot with my initial setup. I was wondering if there are any alternate m3nu.bin menu files to go along with the Project SD2SNES firmware? I tried the ones on the Stone Age site but then I lost configuration options for Super Game Boy in the menu settings. Thanks.
There are! Keep in mind that those m3nu. files are tied to the firmware, so the ones on Stone Age Gamer might be out of date for the current firmware. I updated all of those SAG .bin files and added them to a pack! You can find that pack (and video) here: ua-cam.com/video/M_ojcJCn8W4/v-deo.html
Hello! So the save function for SD2SNES is not compatible at all with the Super EverDrive X5. Both were designed differently by two different devs using different approaches. 😩
@@pandajmj Haha, you're welcome! Krikzz was actually being very gracious in letting ikari01 to do the SD2SNES/FXPAK stuff. That's the reason why he hasn't developed an "X7" or "Pro" anything like that.

@@Spazbo4 Ahh word! That would have been my second choice. SD cards are finicky with the FXPAK Pro, but only really the non-branded ones and some of the Samsungs. Yeah, you only really need 256GB+ if you're gonna go nuts with all of the MSU hacks and such!

Heya! So a jailbroken Super NT cannot play all of the library on its own. You’ll be missing out on Super FX, SA1, MSU-1, and (Super) Game Boy games. You’d also be missing out on save states, (however new the addition). If you don’t mind not having these things, having a jailbroken Super NT is pretty excellent. 😎
So concering those files, they should be legit but the CRC32 values aren't in the proper order. Soon the dev will release a new firmware -- I will do an updated guide explaining these bin files when it drops.
The Beta firmware is perfectly fine, I would not worry about that. If you're insistent on not using it though then you can use the custom firmware made by Furious, he is the one who made the code to enable Save States which has simply been copied over to this new Beta firmware. The Beta is perfectly stable, you don't have to have any worries about using it.
Yo! Whats good! Sounds like you're missing "dsp1.bin" from your "sd2snes folder. Run a search on that file on Google. grab that as well as dsp1b, dsp2, dsp3, dsp4, cx4, 2t0010 & st0011.

I created a video on this process here: ua-cam.com/video/S2SVvzFXCNg/v-deo.html Then grab these for Super Game Boy Support: * sgb2_boot.bin - (MD5: E0430BCA9925FB9882148FD2DC2418C1) * sgb2_snes.bin - (MD5: 8ECD73EB4EDF7ED7E81AEF1BE80031D5) Once you have those files, place all of them inside of the root/sd2snes/ folder and you should be set! What cart is it? Older SD2SNES or the newer FXPAK Pro (Rev.D)? If it’s the newest revision you will need the new firmware that was posted over a week ago: sd2snes.de/files/sd2snes_firmware_v1.11.0b2-RevD.zip
@@RetroSho brand new, just came in today. I will try that version, thanks. Do the ROMs need to be in a specific folder structure as well?
That worked right away, thanks! Strange thing is that file isn't listed on stone age game or the sd2snes download page. Thanks for the hidden link lol
I couldn't get my FXPAK Pro to recognize my 512GB SD Card using the guiformat program or anything, so I used Rufus instead and that worked.
That's perfect! I know at times the larger cards can trip up guiformat. However you can get it up and prepped for files is all good. I'll have to add that program to the list in my videos.
I picked a 32GB card for mine- i'm pretty much curating my selection since I don't wanna sift through 90 percent junk
That is also a good approach! I always aim on the higher end since there are those who want EVERYTHING possible. Either way, cards up to 256GB are super cheap now. Even cheaper if just 32GB, haha!
Hi! I'm using a SNES (US) with Firmware 1.10.3 FRS on my SD2SNES Pro and if I enable safestates (ON) the In Game Reset Hooks just won't work. Pls advise. Tnx!
Heyo! Best advice I can give is to update to the latest firmware! 1.11.0 is now official and out of Beta.
Hello! Unfortunately the FXPAK Pro hasn't been updated at all since 2023. So that Game Genie addition that was talked about has not been added yet.

My menu is super blurry. Is there a way to fix this? The games look fine. I'm running the SNES into a RetroTINK 5X pro
Hello! This is a scaling issue with your TINK5X Pro. What you'll want to do is set the phase to Auto or dial it in (keep in mind it'll effect sharpness on gameplay as well).
A lot of EverDrives have this issue, but it mainly comes from the scaler vs the cart.

stupid hard to find the snes.bin...................................
What's the folder structure you use? Is it like a default FXPAK Pro directory layout that it creates for itself or are you using a specific folder structure somebody made?
It's a folder structure known as HTGDB (Hardware Target Game Database). Run a search on it on Google!

Heya! Thank you!!! Glad it could be help to you! 😎
i am using this firmware but i have two questions. 1. how savestates work? 2. Where can I get the BIOS for Superboy?
Save states explained in the video closer to the end. BIOS file can be found searching on Google using the CRC32 values in search. 😎
(You can type "python --version" in the cmd prompt, without the quotes to see the version you have.)
2) Download the Python script here: gist.github.com/tjanas/8495647a0c80f34ec131fdb438e296cb
3) Ensure that the files you do have are No-Intro verified.

@@jamesb.1972 Ahh I see what ya said! Actually I think the CRC32 values for the BS-X don't matter as much, since there are many different types of files you could test and hook in.

He recently pushed an update to his blog talking about a new firmware for those who recently purchased an FXPro cart: sd2snes.de/blog/
I think once he pushes an update I'll make an updated video for this flash cart for 2023.

Would an sgb2_bios.bin file work in place of a sgb2 snes.bin file? I cannot find the latter anywhere

When I run these games they crash, except super mario world 2 game. This one works normally.
I also noticed that the shortcut R+L+select+X to return to the SD2SNES menu also stops working, even in super mario world 2 that runs without crashing.
Now with the other games and even with the MSU-1 I've tested here, they worked well
Thanks

Heya my man, I'm well! How are you?
First question! This is an authentic SD2SNES, yes? Not one from AliExpress? If so, then I would ask about the ROMs. Which ones are you using?
Save states and shortcuts aren't fully compatible with special chip games unfortunately. Will have to wait for the formal update to the cart for that! Everything else should work solidly until then! No ETA on when the next update should arrive. 🤔
Hope this helps, my man!
I put the Games on the SD Card but they dont appear in the Menu
1) Make sure your card is properly formatted as FAT32.
2) Add the sd2snes folder from the .zip to the root of your card.
3) Place your games on the root and not in the sd2snes folder.
If you don't see them after this, I would first attempt to test another SD card with a single game, so that you can make sure the issue is with the previous card. If you still can't see any games, you might have to return the FXPAK. 🤔
I have a Jailbroken SuperNT. Does that change anything with the process explained in the video?
What database did you use to create the folder structure you have on your SD Card?
Heyo! It's known as the HTGDB (Hardware Target Game Database). Can find out about it here: github.com/frederic-mahe/Hardware-Target-Game-Database
One question tho, where do my legal roms go? Root? sd2nes folder or a folder of thier own???? That I cannot figure out.
Let’s see what I can find!
@@RetroSho I tried an entirely different microSD card to start from scratch, used the latest beta firmware, got the correct files in the correct spots, and Super Game Boy 2 support still doesn't work. Is there something fundamental that I am overlooking?
Never mind, apparently they needed to be ".gb", not ".GB". Silly that it wouldn't recognize the different cases, but whatever.
@@JonLeung1 Haha! That’s actually very good to know. It doesn’t make sense at all that they are case sensitive. 🤔
if I already have a sd2snes with roms and an old firmware, can I just replace the SD2SNES folder with the new one to get the update or do I need to start from skratch?
Hello! Yep! If you have an old SD2SNES folder with firmware, just cut it out, and replace it with the new folder.
Make sure you make a backup of the older folder to your PC just in case.
how do we put the msu-1 games onto our sd they need to be converted in any way?
Heya my man! For MSU-1 you'll need to have the MSU data ROM, the music files (usually .pcm), and the .msu file. You'll be putting all of these files into a folder, and naming the folder to match the game name. If you search for MSU-1 downloads they usually have all of this data mostly packed for you in a .zip. Check here for a MSU-1 Getting Started Guide: www.zeldix.net/t1607-msu1-getting-started-guide

So concering those files, they should be legit but the CRC32 values aren't in the proper order. Soon the dev will release a new firmware -- I will do an updated guide explaining these bin files when it drops.
@Majax Yep! I’ll do an update on it! I need to borrow a new FXPAK from someone just to be sure while testing 🤔

* DSP-1 (dsp1.bin) - (MD5: 4865AC61CD758B0F9383FE3D4D3B8694)
* DSP-1b (dsp1b.bin) - (MD5: C8BFB983703A96E1C3D4683105112BC0)
* DSP-2 (dsp2.bin) - (MD5: E500EC7F6005E78CB935EEA5289C8CC4)
* DSP-3 (dsp3.bin) - (MD5: C037185C8BBEF6313226200DBE5FD07F)
* DSP-4 (dsp4.bin) - (MD5: FE85065A7023551B0D84941A094435BA)
* Cx4 (cx4.bin) - (MD5: 037AC4296B6B6A5C47C440188D3C72E3)
* ST010 (st0010.bin) - (MD5: A1728C31DF22B93E4BDAE73718BA27A2)
* ST011 (st0011.bin) - (MD5: 2C56BADDBA22C6649C95C4C3B13ADCE3)
Alternatively, you can search for "No-Intro BIOS" files, then use a python script to convert them so they match the ones listed above. I created a video on this process here: ua-cam.com/video/S2SVvzFXCNg/v-deo.html
Then grab these for Super Game Boy Support:
* sgb2_boot.bin - (MD5: E0430BCA9925FB9882148FD2DC2418C1)
* sgb2_snes.bin - (MD5: 8ECD73EB4EDF7ED7E81AEF1BE80031D5)
Once you have those files, place all of them inside of the root/sd2snes/ folder and you should be set! Let me know if this helps!

@@RetroSho thanks i just wasnt sure if you needed to be connected via a computer also or i can all be done on original console hardware! i just ordered an fxpakpro today cant wait to get it
@@matt22matt You're welcome! And nope, because the save state functionality is programmed into the flash cart itself vs sending commands to the target device (which is impossible). Enjoy it when you get it! It's been a top flash cart of mine for the past 5 years. 🔥🔥
Hey! Found you via a reddit post! Awesome tutorial and folder structure! Do you have more detail on this? I may try to organize it as you did...
Heya from Reddit!! And you’re welcome for the video!! The folder structure isn’t mine to claim actually, it’s known as the “HTGDB pack” - it’s been around in a few forms over the years and you can search for this easily now 😎
@@RetroSho Thank you!!! I Managed to find the script and it saved a lot of time and effort!! Cheers!😀
@@vscen Awww yeah! Enjoy my man!! 😎
I have FXPAK pro and save states work very bad, not only on games with special chips. Lots of games doesn't load the stage song where you save ( when you play the game again, it loads the song from the first stage) and other games crashes when load or load without music. Chinese sd2snes everdrive do almost the same and 50% cheaper. I feel cheated.
Save states are still in a beta stage (along with the firmware itself), so you shouldn’t expect them to work super well at the moment. Music is one of the more difficult things to get right when it concerns save states. I should have been more clear about that in my video. My apologies!
You keep saying SD card but don't you mean MicroSD?
I tend to say SD card yes. In this instance however, there are SD2SNES carts that have full sized SD card slots. The newer ones are MicroSD.
How exactly can I play games? I tried making a folder in the sdnes folder, and downloaded a bunch of roms and put them in there. Am I missing something?
Hullo!! Move that folder you made outside of the "sd2snes" folder. ROMs cannot be seen from within the "sd2snes" folder. Hope this helps! 😎
Cheats are not working to me. I do all the same than you
Hello! Did you make sure cheats are enabled in the menu?
@@RetroSho Hi, yes I did!😭😭😭
@@vintagebluenote8564 Aha! Are you on the latest firmware? This video was for the beta (v1.10.0b1), but there is a new firmware now!
