I like to think of it as a natural transition from Hyrule Warriors.
You have a point. When a game series has stuck to a formula, sometimes that can be a good thing, but eventually, the gimmick wears out its welcome. When it does, it's time for something innovative, something that breaks the formula but still feels like a Zelda game; Wide-Open sandbox is just perfect and the graphics gorgeous, making me think back to when I tried Skyward Sword for the first time.
I've waited a while to see voice acting finally reach the Zelda series, and my secret wish has been answered: Finally, a good reason to actually bother with a Wii-U!
this will be my launch title for the nx!
This is the kind of game Zelda was intended to be. The evolution of the franchise and the capabilities it had thanks to the hardware it would transition into really defines just how close our visions can be realized thanks to the technological power we have now. This really is The Hyrule Fantasy.

As I watched all of these reveals I couldn't help but remember that story we've all heard by now of how this game started because of exploring caves and fields in real life. It's a dream come true to see it reach this point!
Now all nintendo needs in this game is the regular game and the E3 ver. where we have no towns or NPC's.

I've played the Elder Scrolls games since Morrowind, and I have 1000+ hours in Skyrim, but TES is pretty different from this. They have a lot of similarities, but in reality the only thing that really reminds me of Skyrim is the scenery. Mountains, mountains everywhere.
It has a lotr vibe with the zelda vibe going. Seriously link in this game makes me feel like borormir, aragorn, legolas, and link all at the same time
Its like Shadow of the Colossus without the colossi, but with civilization.
It's more like Witcher with the verticality of Assassin's Creed and The Batman Arkham games.
It's basically Xenoblade.

the game is 50x bigger, the map is 360 killometers big, in comparison, witcher 3 was 136 kilometers, zelda is also aound 4 or 5 times bigger than fallout 4

This game is going to be amazing, but I'm going to have to agree with David here. NES Zelda was a revolutionary concept. Ocarina was a revolution into fully 3D that Nintendo was on the cutting edge of. But this vast open world that you can go anywhere and do anything with... Nintendo is late to the party. This is just Zelda catching up with the likes of Skyrim. It's already been done, and Nintendo is a bit late. That is not to say that it won't be amazing, but it's too late to be considered revolutionary. Maybe revolutionary for the Zelda franchise, but not in general. Still really anticipating it though! :D
+David Doug It's revolutionary because it's taking everything that has become conventional and turning it on its head. Instead of leading with story and following with gameplay, it's using gameplay to immerse players, while letting the story be a mystery that players must uncover themselves, providing further immersion via exploration. It's removing hand-holding and static progression by going back to the series' roots of finding your own way. And perhaps one of the biggest changes is combat and weapons. Combat looks fluid and organic, and you're no longer limited to sword A, sword B, and the Master Sword.

The past three years of people talking smack about the Wii U not being capable of creating next-gen looking games, then Nintendo shocks us all with the revealing of this game today. You can say what you want about the Wii U not matching the specs of the current consoles; this game looks amazing in its own right, and it's only fitting that Nintendo gives the Wii U the grand hoorah it deserves before they release the NX. (Yes, I am aware that the Wii U has a ton of great games, but none of them match the scale that Zelda U is showing off)

TheNorth15 I forgot Xenoblade existed. Doesn't help that I'm not much of a fan of it. Still, in terms of just Nintendo games, this is the best looking on the Wii U (I am fully aware that the Xenoblade devs are a second party company of Nintendo).

Legoguy9875 Bayonetta looked amazing as well. Splatoon looked pretty damn good with it's reflective ink, and both Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World looked absolutely gorgeous.
dude the textures of the terrain are very low res looking. The art style is very nice looking, but this in no way shows good graphical fidelity from a console. This game would look way better on the other consoles. Way better. Hopefully NX shows us how it can really look.

I keep coming back to these videos too. I love feeling the hype and the initial Zelda impressions of people again and I keep noticing minor details in the footage that got changed and polished right up until release.
BotW and TotK are two of the most enjoyable, most polished games I ever played in my life.
This section of the coverage is kind of funny if you have an understanding of Japanese and English. The translator isn't going to outright say it, but Aonuma is actually somewhat annoyed at the person playing because he did not go towards the shrine that they were hinting he should go towards (it's even more funny because right after they suggest it, the guy playing goes literally the opposite direction), and he remains somewhat bitter about it. Eventually Aonuma says the guy playing is not good enough to showcase some other parts of the game. :P
This game looks like one of the best zelda games ever, from my opinion

This is exactly the kind of thing Shigeru Miyamoto had in mind when he created the first Zelda, but couldn't because of limited hardware. Being able to explore a massive world of caves and forests, going wherever you want, whenever you want.
And that's why I am so excited for this game.
I'll probably just stand there, looking around and listening to the soundtrack the entire time.

It would kinda make sense for a game like Metriod which is also big on exploration.
Not like this though. Metriod is about exploration but it has more emphasis on the action. Unless we do some thing where Samus lost her suit and has to survive an alien planet to find it. And the dungeons will be enemy ships that have parts of her suit.

The enemy combat AI looks way more natural than Skyward Sword, and I'm seeing some Wind Waker-esque elements, but expanded upon. Can't wait to try it out!

There were toilets in Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword. IIRC you can use the toilet in Skyward Sword.

This takes me back. I remember being enthralled with all this footage for HOURS when it first came out. I wish tears of the kingdom had something like this too...but I understand why they wouldn't want to spoil too much.

As a really big Zelda fan, I cant wait for this to come out. I also appreciate the attention to detail. How Link shivers in the snow and how his hearts slowly decrease as he walks through the snow without the proper attire. Nintendo truly is amazing!

I'm so happy Zelda woo u was shown I've been waiting at least 3 years since that first demo was shown when the wii u was new. Zelda has come a long way and changed a lot but I think the change is good, who else is hyped!!!

I think in the past Zelda games, they always especially excelled when they innovated even though technically that musn't even be a good thing, but in Zelda it was always good so I see it as a good sign.

way in the future.skyward sword was pretty much how the master sword was made from another sword. in this one the sword is rusted on the logo
I hope the Ancient Robots from Skyward Sword show up in this somewhere! Maybe they helped develop the Sheikah's technology and made stuff like the Shiekah Slate.
Gigantic EMPTY world....not impressed with this game at all. It's 2016, and the graphics are like Playstation 2, and open world is even emptier than Skyrim was. Nintendo GG. lawl

They have changed a lot in regard to gameplay but at the same time they seem to have given nods to a lot of the previous game history like the koroks and the variation of the sail cloth. I'm sure we are going to see a bunch of characters, enemies etc represented in some form from previous games.

Music makes Zelda. They always have the most breathtaking and beautiful soundtracks, especially Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time. I also love A Link Between Worlds' soundtrack 😊
aparently there wont be much of a sound track like we have seen through conventional zelda games, so it seems that there wont be a hyrule field sort of track constantly through your travels but a more subtle and discreet track constantly which will fit the theme allot better

These Zelda videos were essentially my introduction to the gaming world and community. I can't imagine any way I would have rather taken. Really brings me back, wow.

I still remember my first time playing OoT in 1998 - couldn't stop playing, so engrossed in the world and story. This looks incredible - 2017 will hopefully be just like '98 all over again (in a good way).
I love the Treehouse streams each year. Very nice people, cool coverage of exclusive content and developer interviews.
The end portion where he is switching between gliding and sledding with the snow coming down is just amazing.

I'm absolutely in love with the style of this game!
I remember watching these three clips along with over analyzing all the footage from E3 and previous trying to piece together the world.
After watching these a couple times each at this point, I just really enjoy how excited Aonuma is. His happiness is infectious and really cements in my mind that this game will blow all my expectations out of the water.
I won't preorder this....until we get NX preorders open

I'm waiting to see if it's backwards compatible with wii u games. If not, I'll just go ahead and drop money on a wii. I've heard it won't be any different on NX though. I don't think it'll even have better graphics.
Im literally crying while watching this
Im finally watching this gameplay video after fully exploring the world in the game. It was really worth it to hold off from watching any trailers and stuff. Best gaming experience Ive had in a long time.
Watching the first 15 minutes, I realized you could survive the fall off the plateau once you get the glider by using it just before you land and die. So to get to the next area you need to visit all three shrines then the old man and you could leave immediately. The old man would probably still be next to the cave if you never went the way the game guided you when you started. He'd still be waiting for you to "steal" his baked apple.
Ok, but here's the important question: can the unit of temperature be changed to K deg C?

I would imagine that it is based upon where you live. E3 is based in the United States, so the temperature value is in Fahrenheit. If you live somewhere where it is usually measured in Celsius or Kelvin, I would imagine it would show those values.
It'll probably be localized. This is the US version of the game, so F is used. There is a toggle så people can use what they prefer, regardless of region
Canadians get the US version and we use Celsius... I hope there's the option.

The music in this game is more minimalistic than other Zelda games, Aonuma said they wanted to use piano to make it more emotional.

The detail and the art in graphics directions are great, it truly provides a felling of curiosity and discovery like NES The Legend Of Zelda game!

There are so many great games out there, I've played plenty of games on different systems, but no games make me as excited as Nintendo. I feel like a kid when I see games like these, I want to play this so bad and it's so exciting to know that this will be remembered for the rest of some kids life as well, and will be there first Zelda game.
So when I saw the gliding to snowboarding to jumping off a cliff and gliding again, I realized that's all I'll be doing in this game....
Just realized that at 26:27 the player uses heat from the fire to get extra loft before firing an arrow in slow motion. This game just keeps getting better and better.
Shield surfing. Using the shield like a snowboard at will. Amazing. These people know how to put in fun action gameplay into a game that appears heavily influenced by Skyrim.
(And yes, there's a quote from Aonuma floating around out there about how he wanted to create a game that gave people the same feeling that playing Skyrim gave him)
I love everything about it so far, but I really hope there are characters and stories like the ones Majora's Mask had. If this game has those kind of interactions and side quests this might be the best Zelda ever.

JustFriendly I know, but since the world in Breath of the Wild is so big, I don't think they would include Holodrum and Labrynna in it. This new Zelda game is all about breaking the conventions of Zelda, so I doubt they would include those two areas. To be honest, I would rather Nintendo include a new area in this vast world rather than provide already used content that was created for the Oracle games.

I really hope, when they say there will be towns in the game, that they mean rich, vibrant, bustling towns with lots of buildings and people, not bunch of ruins of what USED to be a town.
They already said there will be towns and NPCs. They just removed them from the e3 demo to not spoil anything in the story.
Personally, I wouldn't want too much going on. As an example, the market in Twilight Princess felt disorienting to me with all the NPCs that didn't have dialogue. I think it's nicer when things are more quiet and open for exploration, so that you get to know the characters better.
I just love the art... perfect! No other video games offer a huge range of art like Zelda!!!!

All of the chests are pretty minor stuff, clothing or consumables. They'll probably have proper fanfare for permanent items.

+MisterHeroman To be fair, it did interrupt the gameplay quite often. We don't need a 30-second cutscene everytime we open a chest. Sure it was cool at the time (when it was a new thing) but it's just unnecessary showboating at this point.

I really hope that by the statement that the NX version won't be any different from the Wii U version they only meant the gameplay and not the graphics. If the NX version will have the same graphics as in this video, it won't be the best start for a new console from 2017.
Btw, I know that Reggie said that they won't be focusing on the specs for the NX.
It probably means the graphics. And they didn't even confirm it will come out when NX launches. They have said "Sometime in 2017".
