I'm glad i found this because my 3ds seems to also be suffering from spicy pillow syndrome. I noticed my 3ds battery has been getting progressively worse at holding a change over the past 2 years, and only became REALLY bad recently. So i thought i'd buy a new battery and learn how to swap it out myself before resorting to buying a whole new 3ds. Thankfully looks just as easy as swapping batteries on older gameboys that take AA's, all i had to do was find and purchase the right type of battery and screwdriver. But after seeing the intro part of this video i decided to inspect my own 3ds... Sure enough the backside is slightly raised on the left where the battery is 😬 i didnt even notice it before but now i realize its probably a spicy pillow in there. i put in an order for a battery and screwdriver so i can swap mine ASAP. Don't want my 3ds to explode on me lol
I know this is nothing surprising since our systems are pretty old at this point, but its so interesting to see that so many people's 3DSes have been experiencing the spicy pillow syndrome within the past few weeks/months. Kinda like they put a timer on these things haha 😸
Found this video after I had found my ooold 3DS with spicy pillow syndrome and removed it, very glad it didn't explode as I had put it away a few months after eShop closed... but it was even more swollen than yours, and I'm pretty sure it was leaking battery gas? Either way, scary stuff. Very neat and straight forward and easy to follow tutorial/follow along video for replacing the battery!
Thanks for this vid. I'm not sure what the pillow syndrome is but I just got my first ever 3DS and it seemed to die abruptly just after a bit of playing. So good to know the replacement is straightforward. I already got the replacement batter (which came with screwdriver) so just a matter of carrying it out
thanks for uploading this! i'm always paranoid about doing stuff like this to my consoles bc i am convinced that i'll mess up and make it worse somehow. it's relieving to see it's only a few steps and there isn't really anything that i could potentially do wrong here. unless i'm just That goofy lol.
omg im kinda concerned ive got a spicy pillow like 4x the size of that and for a year ive been thinking its doing alright sitting in my (wooden) drawers 💀
My 3ds's back screws seem stripped, and I have no clue how to get the back of my 3ds off. I've bought a new battery and now im stuck. Maybe you can help out?
I've heard hot glue can help, or I've even seen videos of someone putting the driver inside a rubber glove finger, giving more area and more grip on the screw
Il mio non dura manco mezz'ora da completamente carico, dovrei controllare ma non credo sia gonfia perché sarebbe gia esplosa credo sia solo andata la batteria
New 3DS owner here and this might be an obvious answer but if the charge life on my 3DS only last 4-5ish minutes tops I’m assuming I should change the battery right?
All up to you! I prefer to keep separate data on each machine, but if you wanted to move everything to a newer 3DS, then that's ultimately the best way to go
Oh yo, I finally got a Switch, I only have two games rn and I’m not at home so i can’t recall my username or whatever (is a brand new account) but I’ll add you on it as soon as I get the chance 🤙
Clever of them to do the screws that way, now everything’s made to break and parts are so hard to replace, it’s interesting seeing how user friendly and easy this process was.
i was never book smart i’m money smart

Wouldn't be good to have an exploded 3ds huh😭
does it work for 2ds@@retrodanYT
Battery replacement for the 2DS is very similar, yes! @@him-bz1pe
Mine bloated and no longer works at all, so the video helped me a lot with the change 👍🏻

Oh, and thank you for the video! I'm currently buying a battery right now 😸✨
Mine started messing up today:(
yeah bro it's almost like batteries die out over time who would've thought?
Wow, it's almost like they acknowledged that @@lilpullout

How long it last?
My 3DS Battery doesn't last more than 2 hours
This is a conviently timed video, thanks!
Sorry for the odd question but where did you buy the battery and charger?
From Amazon here: www.amazon.com/dp/B07WRY9XTQ
Sad to hear you had some spicy pillows though!
I'll put the link in the video desc as well :)

Thank you, this was very helpful even though it was so simple. I learned something new today. A few things actually but nonetheless thank you
idk if this sounds dumb but why is there no battery inside my 3ds? i opened it up but there is no lithium ion battery?
As a pc user who didn't let the pc world spoil me. Hands down the best handheld to ever come to existence.
May be a stupid question but will it delete all my saved data, friends and apps??
Nope! Everything is saved on the SD card in your system, so removing the battery won't affect those :)

great video. question, if i get a switch pro controller can i put the battery on the 3ds right?
Wow never realized it was that simple

Hey man hows the battery? Is it holding up like the official one?
Hopefully i can get the same one in europe if thats the case
I haven't had any issues with it, still going strong
Any tips on cartridges with a load of games or an SD card

Yeah
Definitely
how's the battery holding up?
No problems with it so far! Long battery life and no trouble in terms of keeping the internal clock or calendar
U ARE SOOO COOOLL OMG I LOVE U THX FOR THE VIDEO
Thank you!
Is this better than a system transfer?

is it normal that my 3ds lasts about 1h?
No
Mine is obese
Now do the new 3ds xl
3ds mugen battery is best battery
I need to do this because my 3ds is pregnant
