    Best dance lesson video I've seen in a long time. Ricardo is not only funny, he explains the origins of the music. Together they teach effectively. And the animations are awesome.

    Love this video and all the Five(ish) Minute Dance Lessons! I am teaching these dance steps in physical therapy to a patient who has Parkinson's but loves to dance and feels like he can't do it anymore! These are awesome!!

    Wow one of the best learn-how-to-dance videos I've seen! I dance merengue, salsa, ballet and bellydance, and was looking for a video to help a friend learn merengue. Well done!!!

    so shocked....I used to take salsa lessons from you guys when I lived in DC!! Ricardo flipped me over his head once!
    I cannnnnnot believe this! Before you two were married!! I was watching this video for my students, in search of teaching videos and thought you two looked sort of familiar, but still didn't recognize you ....until Ricardo said his "wepa" of course!!!!!!! WOW I hope you two are doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! abrazotes grandes.

    Beautiful. Simple. And an "ish" tad too long, but I'll be coming back to keep learning. (Satire)
    Thank you so much

    2:31 mark - this is known as making a set of railroad tracks - feet and legs are slightly offset to prevent knee incursions with each other, because since I had danced merengue before, your knees are precious little items! You can also use knee protection, such as knee caps, as needed.

    The (first Merengue); as we know it today; was recorded by "El Maestro Luis Kalaff Perez".
    He was born in Pimentel, Provincia Duarte, Republica Dominicana. El Maestro Kalaff died in 2010.
    NOTE: My neighbor.
    Had nothing to do with "slaves".
    That is not how Merengue is danced.
    If you want to know anything about Merengue; ask a Dominican; and make sure he/she is certified from "El Cibao". Better yet!!! Ask a (Pimentelense).

    This music is not the merengue that we play

    • @charlessmith263
      @charlessmith263 5 років тому

      Basically, that is why most merengue DJs will likely do a mixture of merengue styles - techno-merengue (like "Izquierda derecha" of La Factoria de Sabor), classic merengue (like "Bibillurrina" of Juan Luis Guerra), and High-NRG merengue (like "Latinos" of Proyecto Uno), as well as meren-raps (merengues with rapping, like "Tiburon" of Proyecto Uno, or "El Jardinero" of Wilfrido Vargas). Cumbia-merengues are also probable (for example, "A Mover La Colita" from La Dinamita Sonora - which is actually based on the classic merengue done by Wilfrido Vargas!!!). This is because a merengue DJ wants to please almost everyone who likes only one or a few styles of merengue.

    This better than how dranny taught me. " mija go dance! " At the cookouts and shit knowing I just wanna eat, but noooooooo. Abelita always tapping me to go learn to dance from my cousins. My tios are the best but my primas get on my nerves and they hate me anyway.
