      I really think we could have walked down that trail faster than riding down it..... It was a tough one, we will be back up there when the rainy season is over...... The little WR is a much better bike now and it fits me as a rider better.....

      We will do that ride again some day, but not until I have the WR set up the way I want it..... The CT would have been easier for me to ride....

    One of the original reasons that I purchased the CT was that I too am a bit Vertically Challenged just like you Eddie, I remember one of your video's there was a lady riding a CRF250 Super Motard which took me down a deep rabbit hole into lowering tall bikes, Ive been doing lots of research into a 2nd bike and was looking at the Suzuki V-strom 250 (167 kgs) which stands up well for road use but it too is starting to get a bit heavy for us older folks to pick up when the stand sinks into the ground ( it sound better than falling off : ) , I had been wondering what your new bike was going to be, Interesting that you chose the WR, I hadn't looked at that . At 134 kgs is still a bit heavier than the CT (117 Kgs) , I cannot figure out why the bikes are so heavy especially with newer metals that are both stronger and lighter than steel, Back in my Enduro racing days ( about 1985 ), I had a KDX200A1 it was pure race bread and came only with a Kill Switch, ODO/Trip meter, Headlight and Tail light. It definitely was not road compliant for Australian road use but the guy I purchased it from took it to the inspection station on a rainy afternoon and those guys were not about to get wet so the papers were signed and I ended up with a registered beast to ride around the small country town. it was 97Kg's Dry and from memory 37 Hp so it was great for enduro's as I could enter the Under 200, Under 300 and Under 500 class Plus it really kept the bigger bikes honest as it was quick, Light and nimble through the tight stuff. With all that being said, I'm wondering how much you will lower the WR, Ive just had a look and I could see 50mm and 100mm linkages, On my CT my seat height would be about the same as yours and I FLAT foot comfortably, I'm still going to buy another CT to ride around the village but What I really want is a 2nd bike (dual sport, not a road bike )that is comfortable to cruise at highway speeds ( which is why I was looking at the Vstrom 250 as it appears to tick all the boxes, so keen to see a bit more on the WR once you have lowered the suspension.

      I've already done a lot to the WR as I've had the bike since Feb. 14 and this ride was on Feb. 16. I immediately went to the home shopping network and started looking for a lowering linkage for it. Could not find one but I did get a 2 inch lowering set of brackets that the swing arm, shock and frame all bolt to and it lowered it just right for me. I also loosened up the triple clamps and pushed the front forks up 30mm which was close to 2 full inches. With those adjustments and a new pair of riding boots. I can now stand flat foot while setting on the seat. Makes it so much easier to ride this bike on tricky trails. No worries about tipping over again. That fall I had was not fun and the 300 pound bike was not easy to lift, but being a little bit pissed off helped give me the strength to lift it... On my next video of the WR, I'll give a list of the comfort items I added for me. I would have loved to have it set up like it is now when I went on that trail.... It was not an easy ride, but I'd do it again now with the bike the way it is. To be honest, my Honda CT would have been a lot easier to ride that trail than the stock WR was....

    at 18 mins id have turned back - surprised you didnt take it on a trail you knew - find a hole when you stop and foot down and oh. is this gonna get a pipe so you can hear it?? :D

    • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing  Рік тому +1

      It was supposed to be an easy dirt road down the mountain. Sometimes our info on a new off road section isn't up to date, so things like this happen. Yes, it has already gotten a new pipe and I've lowered the bike down 2 inches front and back so I can now safely touch flat foot while setting on the seat. Also got a skid plate which the bike surprisingly didn't come with new. Traded that monstrosity of a rear tail light, license plate combo in for a much lighter, less bulky aftermarket one and installed an aluminum swing arm. Lost ten pounds off the dry weight with the swing arm and new exhaust pipe and rear tail light assembly. I've just purchased a new Ohlins rear shock and front fork kit for the bike. Those will be going on with a new set of rubber sometime in June after we've done a couple more side by side comparisons with the Honda CT's..... Lots of plans for this year.......

      On this trip, there was no way we were going to backup and do any of it again. Thankfully, we now have at least two videos that are mounted so they can be turned on fairly easily. The third video camera is on a selfie stick and is used for normal opening shots and when we stop at roadside shops. Robert and I both have a camera on us at all times and hopefully, we have them on when we screw up, like fall down. Just so happens they were both on when we fell, lucky for the viewers....

I know you are not pocking jabs at us, but all the comments are welcome as it does help our algorithm with UA-cam. How? I have no idea, but I've heard Likes, shares, comments and subscriptions kick your algorithm up to where the video shows up on the peoples search screens more often. I'm just glad we get people to watch them..... I'm also getting better at editing them..... We may even make a full length movie one of these days.....

      Been a bad month for me. I've been having right side lower back pains for about six months now. On the 3rd the pain got very severe and I had the wife take me to a Government hospital. In the past, I had a kidney stone and passed it, very painful. I have been having the same symptoms the past six months, but just assumed I'd pass the stone if it even was a stone. The Government hospitals here are like having your neighbor next door who watched every episode of MASH check you out. Came away with a years supply of miracle drugs that I'm not real sure what they work on and nothing else. Even with me saying I believe it is a kidney stone. Evidently, the Government hospitals don't have a CAT Scan machine. The next day, I felt fine. On the 5th, the pain reappeared and this time worse than any I had had. The wife took me to Chiang Mai Ram hospital. It is a private hospital and state of the art. After an hour of test after test after test and yes, even a CAT Scan, one of the doctors bent over me and said, you have a stone in your right kidney. Ok, now I know I'm not leaving the hospital until they take care of this. The next evening they did the surgery and blasted the stone into little pieces of sand and stuck a stint up my duty. This stayed inside me for a week in which time I could not eat, nor barely drink anything. Once they took the stint out, my appetite returned and I can now actually take a real drink of water without puking my guts out. I lost ten pounds and am very weak but on the road to recovery. I will be posting a video stating what has happened and will probably not be doing anymore videos until July. Just don't have the strength to do any editing. We have materiel shot, just not the strength. Thanks for worrying about me, I appreciate it. Think I'll go ahead and make the video to let everyone know I'm a little under the weather for a bit.....

    I gave the video a "Like" and subscribed.. LOL.. My first question was "Who built that trail?" It looked like a bulldozer cleared it 50 years ago, and then it had 50 years of erosion from Thai rainfall, with no maintenance and no use since the big erosion ditch formed down the middle of it. Did you ever figure out what was the purpose of the trail? Did it connect one place to another back in the day? Also glad to see Robert back safely from his most recent trip.

      On your next trip to Thailand, Daniel suggested we take you here and give you El' Diablo to ride..... You were already a subscriber, you can't fool me. This was a tough one Vaughn, took a lot out of both of us, but we did learn some valuable stuff from this ride. After purchasing a new bike, go somewhere easy, highlight EASY, to ride. And, the Gecko was the better bike for this terrain simply because I could not touch the ground on the Yamaha WR. That little item has since been fixed and a trip up Hells Trails proved it a much better machine when it fits the rider like we already know the Honda CT fits us.... You coming back to Thailand again? We'll make sure you have a hot-rod Honda CT to ride. Fun times on the bikes with lots of videos to edit. I'll be glad when it rains 10 straight days so I can get some of these videos edited...... Be a safe my friend and thanks for the subscription.......

      @@TeamDNFracing The Honda XR150Ls have been starting to arrive here.. That is about as close as we can get to the Yamaha WR155R. One showed up at my local dealer and I was almost seduced by it.. LOL.. Fortunately, we couldn't agree on the OTD price. The next day two XR150Ls showed up at the second closest dealer both for a fair price and both were sold as they were being unpacked, so I dodged a couple of bullets there. It looks like my two closest dealers are last in line to get the 2023 CT125. The larger Florida dealers have already sold a half dozen or more. I bought the first 2023 CT125 that will arrive at some time in the future at my closest dealer, and put dibs on the first one at the other dealer, so I am hoping to have a pair in the next few weeks or so, or at least by the end of June.
      Your skill level far exceeds mine, and my eyesight continues to get worse. If I do come to Thailand again this coming winter, I'll need better glasses, or else it will be just to get together for a few beers. Glad I got to ride El Diablo, and also Daniels Wave. Still no chance that we will get the Wave here, and I really wanted to see how it rode. I regret not buying a Dax 125 while I was at the Chiang Mai Cub House and leaving it with you guys. I still don't think we will be getting the Dax here in 2024... no Dax rumors at all here.

    So , if I " like , share , comment , and subscribe " a million times does that count ?

      That Like & Subscribe stuff was for all those UA-camrs out there that BEG you like them and subscribe them because it "Means the World" to them. It was all bullshit and no, the Gecko is not up for grabs, I placed a disclaimer in the description for this video. It was fun to do it, but you probably won't see us do that particular one again, but we do have some other stuff planned to mix it up a bit. For us, we just want to have fun with the channel and if that means we make fun of some UA-camrs, we're up for that..... I really doubt that we will ever hit a million subscribers....

      @@thebikegeekandmore2448 On this trail, I'd much rather been on El' Diablo as I really needed to be able to touch the ground in most of the sections shown on the video. That was some really steep ruts and the GoPro cameras didn't show how deep they really were. Robert is 6'3" tall and in one clip, he walks along the top of the trail and below him is the rut as he looks for a way for me to go around. It clearly shows the ditch is over half his height. That was some nasty stuff and yes, the Honda CT would have been much easier to navigate through it. I knew you were just teasing. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that El' Diablo will always be my first choice. However, we will be doing some head to head comparisons with the two bikes to see which one is best... Open areas, the WR will win, tight stuff, the CT has the advantage.... This is one of those times, the CT was the best bike......
