Great comeback win! A lot of good lessons in there. Your commentary made it extra exciting and dramatic, especially the fortunate mouse slip. Bigups to one of my fave political pundits David Pakman for organizing the tournament.
Eric, you’re such an inspiration! I’m a new player and the way you explain things and how humble you’re makes you the best teacher! Thank you for your videos and all the best to you.
Whaaaaat I have been following your videos (mostly from the Saint Louis Chess Club channel) and Pakman for YEARS; so great to see the 2 come together haha!

I tried to work it out and if he plays b3 then black plays Bxd3, white plays Qxd3, black plays Rxc3, and white can't take back cause the rook is protected, at least that's my thinking ^^
I know this is an older video but goodness it was a gripping tale, I for sure thought 1st was gone with that loss, and then you managed to clutch or straight down punish for it anyway! Love the videos, they've started to resurface my love for the game
Such a cool position at 17:55 - if white did Be3xa7 instead it would look so weird and awkward that it may prompt black to blunder the game with Rf8-f7 :D Love the content, thank you Eric!
He is better at explaining what's going on in the game than anyone else. I think it's because has a deeper understanding than the vast majority(possibly all). He also isn't in love with himself like a lot of youtubers that post on the subject. That quality of his makes him a lot more pleasurable to watch.
I like chess, even not being a good player (I dont have neither the gift nor the time to improve). Thats why I really enjoy watching your play. Its so smooth. Keep it up!
15:40 Re4 is a nice alternative to what you played. kind of a rook fork, winning the exchange, or winning the centre. 28:00 Again a rook move. Rook e2 defends the pawn.
At 15:44 I have a pretty interesting move sequence starting with Ne6. If fxe6, then Qxg4 threatening Bh6. If Bxe6 then Bxe6 and after fxe6 Qxg4 still threatening Bh6 and Qxg7#. Am I missing something or is this a viable option?
Thanks for almost getting the nakhmanson Gambit. Really waiting to see it on your video. I don't have twitch but really enjoy watching your UA-cam videos
I have a question, I don't know if you will see this but, when I start a pawn storm early, say with a4, engine says it's a mistake, then when I play something else next move, it says it's a blunder, correct move is a5...how is a5 correct when a4 was wrong.
I got an ad about a woman who lost her child to cancer before the video and emotionally I really got pulled into her story and forgot about the video, and then suddenly I see a chess board and Eric saying “well anyway” and I just loled
24:30 white to e4 if black takes it you trade knights and gain a fork on the bishop and the rook. With midlane open for the queen and rook moving bishop onto the knights position.
Bob Ross is perfect, he should have the killing them softly in the background playing at all times. I do have one suggestion, @Eric Rosen you did a vid awhile back showing average view times and it was somewhere around 8 or 9 min maybe.. To pack as much content and shorten as many as possible. That is it. Love your channel.
I went 5-4 in the first tournament I tried. I got better with the time control as the evening progresses and won the last three. Openings like the London System, etc. may work well in tournament like this (openings where people walk into sudden mating attacks).
19:22 bishop D3 doesnt work either. Bishop takes D3 and if knight takes, Queen pins, but if Black Queen takes on D3, pawn takes knight and White Queen stays defended by the rook

Eric: "yes, IM Rosen"

41:19 - Rosen has the golden touch. Even his mouse slips win him the game.

No. It is Vishwanathan Anand.

34:16 is he saying "fossil"? I've heard Hikaru use the same term, what is it exactly? Thanks!
It's like how a fossil is hidden under stone, the rook hides behind the bishop, ready for attack on Black's queen
Hikaru uses "fossil attack" to mean "discovered attack"
It’s an xqc meme
Fossils are discovered so if a move in chess comes with a discovered attack, some cool kids call it a fossil.
Makes a ton of sense. Thanks!
