It's so great to see someone who plays chess to enjoy it and doesn't put other, lower rated players down. You're very wholesome and I can't wait to see more of your content! My favourite opening is the Giuocco Piano: Pianissimo (it's pretty much the only opening I can play well past move 6) so if you know of any gambit surrounding that I'd be really interested to see them! It really tells alot about the IM norm and what strong players can do, I mean a 2000+ is no joke even on Lichess (well closely around 2000 it really depends) and he is basically crushing them using really dubious openings . But once you realize the 600 points gap between them you can realize the journey one has to engage in to go from "good" to "strong".

    The 3rd of September happens on a Friday on repeating years separated by differences in the pattern (starting from 2021) 6, 5, 6, 11. So the years 2021, 2027, 2032, 2038, 2049, 2055, 2060, etc. all have September 3rd on a Friday. This means that on average every 7 years September 3rd falls on a Friday, so you were right about 1 in 7 lol :D

    • @erikbreathes
      @erikbreathes 3 роки тому +1

      Probably the easiest way to calculate this is to just know that there are seven days in a week and because there is a set amount of days in a set amount of years, neither of which happen to be divisible by 7 (1461 days in 4 years), over a long enough period of time youll have pretty much exactly one in seven years where September 3rd is a friday

    Hey Eric, crazy tactic. First game, (hillbilly vs caro) 8th move, f3 doesnt work, since the pawn isn't actually pinned to the queen. If black takes exf3 and you take the queen, black keeps on with fxg2, and your rook is dead, and black makes a new queen. There are some weird engine defences that give up a lot of material to get back on the diagonal just so black cant keep the extra queen, but still, it's around -8 with best play, and -4 with natural play. Just a heads up! Hard to see/evaluate in 3 min blitz. Keep up the great content!

    favourite gambit: stafford
    I haven't won every game with it, but when I do, it's always the most satisfying kind of victory.

    In the first game, after Qd4, white would usually have Nf3 with advantage, but because the a4 a5 insertion black can play Qb4 without fear of a3

    That second game has to be a gift to a famous streamer. A 1961 rated player playing like that with plenty of time on the clock, when no one above 400 would play that dumb Qc4 move that instantly and obviously loses?!

      You're overestimated it. Around 1000 or even some bad 1300 still make one move blunder, and positional blunder even harder to see for around 1000, but it's a game, people always have some bad games.

    I made it this far. What a TRULY AMAZING performance. The amount of FUN I had watching this is unlike most other chess videos. Ben Finegold will go nuts from time to time. But so many players just want to play solid and safe and BORING! You have the fundamentals with a bit of edge that is perfect for the UA-cam and Streaming formats.
    Ed: oh my favorite. I had one but they are all so good. Let's see if I find it quickly...I can't find it quickly, I'd have to watch most of them again. I should have wrote a note down.
