Vids like these can save families lots of money. A recent quote for a 57 foot fence was $1,100 dollars and the materials were only $567.00. Thanks a bunch for the guidance and savings.
Nick Garza, just curious, did you build your fence or did you hire someone? How did it turn out? I'm getting ready to try and build a picket fence myself.
Hi Nick Garza, of course anyone with the aptitude could do this or that DIY if they take the time, but the whole reason why an economy works is due to trade (money for skill/speed/dependability). It's more efficient to pay someone with the experience to do a job. The more valuable you are, the more valuable your time is and thus it's more efficient to pay someone else to do jobs that take away from your earning potential. On that note, did you expect a person or team to build your fence for less (or much less) than the cost of materials? (i.e. prepare ground, dig holes, erect fence etc) Do you think it's ok to pay people less than $533 for 2-3 days of honest hard work? For two people that's less than $133 per day! Even double that as a daily wage is poor considering this type of work is sporadic. You got quoted a price that normally would have guaranteed work with the average customer; a price that is way less than fair, which to me signifies the person quoting it is pretty desperate for work. Some people have to make a living you know lol. This whole scrimping mentality (expecting something for nothing) only makes life miserable for tradespeople who don't deserve it, and it's no wonder people have bad experiences with them (some clueless clients having unreasonable expectations and zero gratitude for hard work). // rant
just come across your video at a fortuitous time as I need to fence off a paddock. Thanks, v helpful to a novice female DIY'r. i was given various quotes ranging from £2k to as much as £3.5k JUST for labour to build a 75m total run (I live in a small rural village in Scotland and decent tradesmen are as rare as hen's teeth) hence the reason I am going to try doing it myself first.
Glad it helped. I would suggest you try an agricultrural fencer rather than garden/landscaping type tradesmen, (if you habn't already). They would be far more effecient and cost effective for paddock type fencing. They may not concrete and use a powered driver instead. Hope it all goes well. :-)
A little tip I've used before when cutting the posts off is to use the top rail as a guide for the circular saw to run on to trim all the post off equal but great job once again

Nick Garza Sorry to ask, but what was your expectation? The quote you got was actually quite a steal.

Good job ......going to do my fence soon......you have gave me some good ideas 👍
I like the colour of the fence. Looks very nice from what I can see :)
well done mate, good fence idea for the garden
Did you treat the top of the posts after sawing?
What size rails were you using?
Really good work, I am a carpenter and yet pretty impressed! What Colour is the paint?
Great guide this 👌.
Nice video . Do you have a preference for putting the rails wide side up vs narrrow side up ?
Why not use quick grip clamps to hold the rails up?
nice tidy job...well done...
What size are the railings you are using?
Awesome job!!
I thought u might bolt that on by hand like most things lol well done tho mate
@Erik Zion I think that's (Bianchi) Celeste green.
how high should bottom rail be
I have the feeling this question wasn't answered because the answer is in one of the three picket fence videos.
i like what you do :-)
I prefer to build with woodprix plans.
Ho
This isn't accurate.
Don't use square rails. You need arris or cant rails. The fence will last longer.
