I’ve made one of the front customisable buttons the preview/play button so I can quickly review my shots. Just as good as having it on the back right hand side!
Wow, I just found you, this was great! Where have you been? New subscriber, loved the content, thanks! I’m a Sony shooter, but I just got the S1R today, comes to my home by Jan 10th, so I have lots to learn before then & this was a bloody good start! Do you have any other lenses for it yet, & if so, which do you like the best & why? Thanks again for a great video!
Exposure Leveling seems intriguing. Have you used it on enough holy grail sequences to form a solid opinion on its ramping accuracy? Can the user choose how it ramps (e.g., ISO only vs. shutter speed only vs. ISO and shutter speed) or does the camera decide for you?
Need to do more testing but from the one sequence it was great. I've got some more info on the blog and will probably do a bigger post about it once I've tested it more. Hope to try it in Barcelona this week. www.matjoez.com/blog
I haven't tried it but I assume so. I didn't go with the R as I didn't enjoy my 5DSR and ended up selling it. That being said, I'm sure it's also a very capable camera.
Got notified of this only by your newsletter, but not youtube 🤔 but get this! I received a notification from a video someone else posted 10 mins after this that I haven't rung the bell for 🙄 wtf. Looks like an awesome camera though, damn!
awesome. Panasonic is known for actually listening to their users, as opposed to other brands I will not mention COUGH NIKON CANON COUGH Bummer with no aperture lock though. But I'm sure that they will/can update that with a firmware.
I love and hate reviews like this. Makes me want to own this amazing camera, but it is 5000 euro with the lens! No way I can justify/afford such a price :(. That being said, I need to learn how to make videos/photos/timelapses with the gear I have first before I start wanting stuff like this :)
the camera is super amazing, build quality and image quality are top notch! Great video man!

Did you solve the aperture flicker by chance?
You can program function button on the right as play button. I hate left one as well :D
Yooo that is a solid tip, will add that to the blog, thank you!!
Does the 'exposure leveling' feature forego the need for the lens twist aperture lock method?
Matt have u tried the adapter to mount EF Canon lens? I know that native lens are the best but was curious how Canon lens performed. Thanks
Yesss... Thissss
Liked your review. One question does the LCD monitor continue to function while intervalometer is working? Nikon"s Z6 does not, Sony aA7 series does.
Mad review man, thorough walkthrough! 🙌🏻 Totally never knew about that stop motion + image overlay mode 👏🏻
Cheers homie!
Is using a remote the only way to timelapse with High Resolution mode? Can't seem to get the built in to work with that...
Have you used the Nikon D850? I used to shoot. Dozens of time lapses on it.
Nice video Matt. Looks amazing and great to see some good in-camera software.
Cheers Mark

The automatic adjustments for the sunset timelapse (10:05) are incredibly smooth and accurate. Impressive example.
So when you shoot a timelapse using exposure leveling do the underlying raw files reflect the exposure modifications as well?
Yup, they are minute tho, so much smaller than 1/3rd of a stop. Check out my other S1 video for more details on it
@@MatthewVandeputte And if you shoot a timelapse that is processed in-camera do still have access to the raw files in that situation as well?
Can these cameras upload images to a FTP server? Are there any cameras that you could connect to a 4g router?
no idea sorry!
Epic review, thanks so much for all the info man! I've started using 6k burst more to photograph scientists releasing wildlife!
So is the S1R even better for hyperlapses?
Mathew does the S1r have the same Timelapse and night shooting features? As far as I ca tell it’s 47mp at less high iso.
I haven't tried it but I assume so. I didn't go with the R as I didn't enjoy my 5DSR and ended up selling it. That being said, I'm sure it's also a very capable camera.
are these same features available in the s1r and s1h?
yup
Lovely review mate! Big ups!!
Merci Bert!
Are you able to keep the raw files even when you have process the timelapse sequence in-camera? I can't recall if you mentioned that point.
Yeah, the video is an optional extra, you store the RAW (and JPEG if enabled).
Exposure leveling is grayed out on my S1 can you please tell me how to turn it on
Turn cam to Aperture priority mode and set iso to auto, hope that helps!
Matthew Vandeputte that did the trick thanks man i’ve been binge watching all your content
Matthew Vandeputte can you please do a video on using the exposure leveling
Nice review and timelpase mode builtin is always good and handy and I m waitin for your review on Canon 90D ....
It'd be good to get my hands on the Canon! Always been a fan of the xxD series.
@@MatthewVandeputte same here bro

Awesome goodies on this camera!
Looks great 👍📸📸
Looks like they learnt a lot from magic lantern. Thanks for the great review, Mat!
Haha yeah, ML had vision!!
Thought the thumbnail said $1 Timelapse review 📸
I am almost sold! But I don't really need a new camera...
