I wish I could've fit the 77" A80J in my entertainment center but I had to go with the 65" A90J because of its height of 32-7/8".
The A90J is an awesome TV and I have no regrets. However, I saw the 77" A80J next to the 65" A90J at Best Buy and I could not see any difference in brightness and picture quality.
So I was bummed that I couldn't fit the 77" in my set up.

Can't believe people spend 4000$ on a TV that will begin degrading after 5000 hours usage.

Bigger and more expensive than I orginally intended to spend but with the money I've saved due to the covid lockdown (working from home, not traveling, etc) it was doable.

Me personally, if the IPS panel has plenty dimming zones with a good algorithm + have a good amount of peak brightness, the contrast and blooming won't be an issue from a normal viewing distance. The Samsung QN85a is an example of this.

I recently got the tcl r646 and after about ten days it just straight up died unfortunately. I liked the tv pq was really nice but Google tv was a little buggy so when I returned it I had to either pick something else or wait up to three weeks on the tcl. So I went with the Vizio p65q9-j1 because I needed a tv and I could afford to take a chance because it was on sale and I had an extended warranty. Almost two weeks later and I honestly prefer the p series. Blacks are nice and inky hdr has plenty of pop and all the hdmi 2.1 features have worked flawlessly. I feel people are really sleeping on this tv it honestly offers a really nice home cinema experience. This year all I heard about Vizio was they cut back the specs on their TVs what were they thinking. Even with less dimming zones the tv had very little blooming and does a great job increasing the contrast. Maybe Vizio wanted to simplify things a bit and make sure they produced more consistent TVs than last year. If you catch the new p series on sale especially Black Friday if it’s under a grand give it a go. I’m very pleasantly surprised with mine

Just talked to someone that cane from an old 1080p 52 samsung he went to a 77 inch oled and didn't like the image quality. He went to a smaller tv a 55 ans he loves it. Pixel density does come into play and it's all about preference. Get what yoy guys like if you want bigger go for it if yoy want smaller go for it. I've always been one to go towards smaller as the inage is a bit tighter I mean same amount of pixels on a 55 that is on an 83 inch so yeah pixel density. I've also noticed you don't notice flaws as easily on smaller tvs. I also don't notice noise in the image as much. But see we all have eyes and notice different things and it's all preference. I will always choose qauliyy over size some people are so used to big tvs for them they love the image and hey that's awesome I'm happy for whoever gets what they like.

If the TV is big enough for the room I always go with the better PQ on a higher end set. If I want a big TV with all those stretched out pixels I'll get a Walmart special. In the thousands of dollars, the picture has to be perfect and I've never seen one of those huge TVs pull that off.

    • @evaloutionofman
      @evaloutionofman 2 роки тому

I had actually considered the 83 inch a90j before I went with the 65. I don't know what other people are seeing but the difference in pixel density and clarity between sizes even on the best consumer TV on the planet was obvious. If I was paying twice the amount for the bigger TV it needed to be the same or close PQ and it just wasn't.

@@evaloutionofman exactly kind of like look at a 30 inch reference monitor next to a 55 inch tv. The reference monitor at 30 inches will be cleaner and sharper, thats why I appreciate what Vincent and dnice and others have said the sony a90j. They said it has gotten closest to it in sharpness and detail because of the xr processor and the way they juice it up on the a90j. I hope others start listening to the people that have been in the community for 15 to 25 years. The people who have seen it all because it differs from what some people think they see or have seen before. If you aren't watching the tvs correct you won't be able to see the differences. Nobody is sitting 70 degrees to the side watching a tv 2 to 3x the distance you should be watching it lol. Anybody that thinks you can judge a tv that way is past any kind of logic to the point where I can't comprehend how they think. You also can't judge image quality over a video uploaded uploaded UA-cam. The first year I came into the tv world I learned how you can judge tvs and how you can't. It's commense, the issue is people don't like to listen and the first thing they do is run to social media and start spewing out false information. When if they would reach out to people with real knowledge they would find out quickly it's different then they think lol. Then you have people that try to push some narrative and then full knowing it doesn't look the way they say it does and they still still to prove it just to make themselves look like they know. Or that what they said was so called correct.

@@allargon Samsung doesn’t support Dolby Vision for films, the XR processor from Sony x95J gives you more accuracy in colours compared to Samsung, the motion is a lot better than the Samsung and the multi acoustic panel sounds better than the Samsung, in my opinion from seeing the QN85 in person it has really bad blooming especially on off viewing angles which makes the back lighting of the tv look green and the blooming control looks a lot more better on the Sony X95J. If your going strictly for picture quality and film features Sony also has something called imax enhanced which is similar to Dolby vision but it can be used for youtube, netflix, Bravia core etc. The only really decent comparison would probably be the QN94 but in my opinion because of the extra features Sony has its a lot better to stick with sony

Awesome video - I do have one question. I was watching Avatar on a bluray yesterday in 1080p and testing Sony's Reality Creation on a 55 inch 2014 Sony sitting 11+ feet away (20 degree FOV).
First, is bluray considered high quality content? Bluray's content is usually 24-30mbps (granted capped at 1080p) and Reality Creation does make a visible difference on a 2014 1080p 55 inch TV - it's not night and day but a much clearer day. Obviously with a larger TV, higher resolution (1080p -> 4k), and a better processor like the XR , I would expect the difference to be even more pronounced. Even on my TV, Reality Creation's improvements increase as my FOV increases when I sit closer to the TV.
Wouldn't someone be better off with a 75 inch Sony X90J than a 75 inch TCL 6? Unless the TCL6's HDR is simply earth-shattering and applies to all content (it does not), wouldn't we prefer the better picture quality that applies to all content when zooming in at 200% which is what a large TV does.
My assumption here is that the X90J supports Reality Creation.
    I know this is a curveball 😃

They are at a similar price and I would like to know which one is worth more to have the best gaming experience and Highest image quality. Does the image quality that the qn900a has more than the qn800a make up for the difference of 10 inches less? or is it even better to go for a 75, but with a slightly lower image quality? I’m in the same boat as you. But really if you can wait till a90j 83 inch drops to it’s lowest like in 2 years I would wait. Oled you will get the best viewing angles with best in class contrast. X95j if your not worried about viewing angles. For me I want that 77 a80j but I really want a 83 85 inch tv which I can buy with no regrets. Just the price point but if you can wait you get best bang for your money. Look at the A9G. Price was $8,000 and now it’s $3,000. Just wait.

Go with what looks better to you, i believe the hype on the oled and got a 55 inch A80j for my bedroom and honestly it’s so dim and dark I’m disappointed, I wish I had gotten the Samsung qn90a it has good enough black levels and super bright and punchy. It’s what looks better to your eyes, to me it seems I would rather have a brighter tv with really good black levels than a dim tv with perfect blacks, it’s what some ppl naturally prefer, that’s why you have oled fans and qled fans, with that being said I’m keeping the oled not going through the hassle of returning it but every time I watch it, it left me wanting more.
