Thank you for demonstrating both the poor and good results of the Kinect. It really helps with deciding it's effectiveness and proper use cases. Excellent video!
Plan to use this to get the basic for reproduction parts for my vintage Honda Elite scooter. Can clean up and modify in 3d program before printing parts.
I was disappointed by the lack of videos of people using the redundant kinect for other uses considering it's power so am happy to see someone has used it elsewhere! Thanks for the video :)

Hi Daniel, I have one question on the Kinect sensor. Is the Kinect Xbox one is the Kinect V2? and the is the Xbox 360 is the Kinect V1? Because when I read some paper, it mentioned using Kinect V2 for Human Skeleton Extraction. Thank you very much.
I wonder how it’d do with the Glass and the Watering Can if you covered them in Baby powder? We used Baby powder on transparent POM juice bottles with our NextEngine Scanners in my Product Development course and it worked out alright, so I’m curious to see if it’d have improved results with the Kinect as well.
Hi, I allready purchased the Kinect v2 sensor but did not set it up. Now I am thinking of the Creality Lizard. Will this outperform the kinnect? Thank you
At the time that video was done, I used the latest drivers from the official Microsoft Downloads Portal. Honestly don't know if that has changed, updated or is still available today...
Great Video! Thanks! Too bad the scanner has trouble with smaller objects. 3D scanning seems to be a bit of a challenge these days for those of us who have limited budgets and can't afford to invest in high dollar scanning equipment. It would be nice to be able to come up with a good DIY low dollar solution using existing and readily available equipment such as this.
I am going to talk about other solutions like using smartphone cameras and external software in the next videos. Depending on your computer this will be a cheap solution but much more time consuming.
Well, unfortunately, MS decided to not continue this product but it lives on in other products like the Hello Camera and also the Hololens. Sad story, still that there was never a better, smaller version with higher camera resolution.
Hello, I am an engineering student from Brazil and would like to know how accurate this scanner is? I would like to scan some parts of my project and I need to have very good precision to get good results, great videos and thanks for the content.
I'm engineering student from Poland and unfortunely I think that It's not as precise as you need. I was thinking the same way before using Kinect V2 as a 3D scanner. It's definitely better to design parts in 3D software like Solidworks. If You want to scan objects like figures, art, people etc, then kinect is just ok but not perfect as You can see on this video. Good luck, Luke
It's OK? I bought a Kinect V2 and I'm taking a sura to connect it to Windows 10 even with the original source, I managed to get it to work with a lot of cost and after the PC restarted it stopped working in the 3D Scanner and in the part of unlocking the PC via facial recognition doesn't work, nor is it recognized and I followed some tutorials from 2015 and it didn't work. He does not do facial recognition, I saw some videos on youtube in 2015 that people connected the kinect V2.0 on windows 10 with the adapter and agreed to unlock it with facial recognition, now I was in doubt because I bought a kit, the PC recognizes Kinect but does not do Face Recognition because the system does not accept it. The KINECT for WINDOWS (Configuration Verifier) ??application has these settings "Update Configuration Definitions" and the "USB Controller" with a yellow exclamation and the rest with a green "V". With the 3.0 font it would work and end this yellow exclamation and change to the "V" in green? You would know how to connect and configure correctly in Windows 10 and where to download the software since Microsoft took the pages down and a Helicopter is upside down and with code 404, so I'm having these difficulties, would you know me help or give a light?

Very nice. Is it possible to be creative and use 2 or 3 Xbox one Kinect simultaneously? Or is that not going to be worth the effort (if it even works, does it?)
Awesome but unfortunately, it seems not to work on my side.... I followed your steps but nothing is shown in Scan 3D... The Kinect is not detected... Any thoughts ?

The Kinect for Windows runtime 2.0 page is no longer supported. I cannot find the drivers anywhere else.. Does anyone know where I can get the drivers?
That kind of works, I tried it - with some mixed results. You need to have a very clean background and the turntable needs to have a lot of features. Some people mentioned that putting a newspaper on the turntable is the easiest. The software needs points to recognize the position of the turntable and at the same time it shouldn't be able to locate anything in particular in the background that might lead it into thinking your're not moving around the object. it's obviously not made for this kind of scenario.
This is amazing! I have a Kinect for full body tracking but its good to see another application for my hardware. I wonder how well this would work if you built a lazy Susan for the subject being sampled.
Great video, thanks. I tried, but I am finding a calibration issue. The infrared depth is not lined up with the color image. So, the 3d scan works but is not colorized. I see the background pasted on the 3d object. Any ideas?

Yes, definitely going to try this. However I will have to make a uniform colored background, evenly lighted (probably best in black or green). I tried in my usual environment with a turntable and the software completely freaked out because it tries to track the movement using the whole image.

i liked it when he said he was going to start the tutorial right now and then didn't for 2 minutes
