I really appreciate your art and think that you are a great master 🙏🏻 I’ve been following your UA-cam channel for more than 5 years and I watched and rewatched your videos and I learned from them some very useful things! Thank you for sharing your art and experience! But can I ask you a question? Do you use this technique in your work? Don’t you think that using a compass and a ruler would prevent the development of the sense of proportions and a good eye of an artist? I’m from Russia and here we weren’t allowed to use any additional tools but our pencils and brushes while painting, it was prohibited at art school. Our art teachers are very strict and they wouldn’t let us use a printed image and a compass.
I don't use this technique, it takes too much time. But it gives very accurate results if someone wants to transfer an image accurately. It's just a different tool.

I'm currently slow with my progress and things are stressing me off. I find it hard to make facial features in proportion with the references😔. Practice makes better right?❤

Measuring will always give you a more accurate proportion. Tools make the job easier, always.
