Thanks bud this video really helped, was struggling for hours with no audio output before finding this video. I went into preferences - playback and recording - driver mode and then changed to MME 32 bit. Problem solved. Thanks again very helpful.
Thanks, Dan! Not only did you help me solve my problem but you also have one of the friendliest voices I've ever followed a tutorial to. Thanks again! You rock!
Sir, you helped me out so much! I was getting messages about cakewalk being incompatible with ASIO4all and couldnt choose working inputs and outputs. Your explanation worked for me with the Behringer UM-2. Thank you very much!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH OMG YOU DESERVE A MEDAL, I've been trying for days to get sound from my cakewalk, I honestly thought I would need a new PC this was the world of helpful thank you so much man, continue to do this because you made so easy to follow so once again thank you.
Daniel, thank you so much man! I was having an issue where instruments on tracks wouldnt play out of my speakers. Out of all the tutorials I watched none of them talked about this but after watching your video I finally got it working. Thank you thank you thank you!!
AYE! Thanks Dan. I just needed to hear a few things while looking for lighter fluid for my computers ...Between Cakewalk and Cubase and Cockou ..I'M koo koo....Cheers from California.
Thanks a bunch. It got me moving! I learned that my audio cord was plugged in to 1 on the external device, but it was set to 2 on on cakewalk. So, I changed them to match. Also, I learned there are more places in preferences where the setting must be changed to your mic/headphone device name (input/output device name). Click through every every setting until you're sure each spot that allows you to pick your mic/headphone from a drop down is set to your mic.
Btw, if you are using headphones and there is no sound. try unplugging it and plug back in than reassign your inputs to nothing and than back to your headphones, finally replay your track by pressing the play button. This can work instead of resetting cakewalk. This works for me though.
Thanks for the video, however it hasn't solved my problems, if fact nothing has, I've spent 4 days watching every video on UA-cam, and trying everything, and I still have no sound on playback, I'm now giving up, not sure what program I'm gong to try next, but cakewalk is gone.....
Hi Mary, yes I am pretty sure you can connect that to your computer and use it as your midi controller in Cakewalk. Send me the specs on your gear and I can walk you through how to set it up.
I noticed that when you finished alterating each setting, you did not click Apply in that particular open box before closing, and then moved on to check another setting, should you have done so ?
If you go to my youtube channel and click on my website link you can contact me directly and I can get some info from you. There are too many things that could be the problem. I would need to find out your set up.
Hey, I am having latency issue while recording. I hear my voice after a short delay and its getting really difficult to record. Also, I tried to make the buffer size to fast but it isnt moving from safe to fast what to do?
Hi Nupoor, I need some info about your system. What are you using for sound (audio interface or computer sound card)? Also are you using ASIO driver or MME, WDM?
@@NupurMaharaj222 Ok. Make sure your interface is working in ASIO driver mode in Cakewalk preferences under Audio playback and recording. The other part is to not use the direct monitoring switch on the interface. It will cause latency when monitoring. It works best to use an outside mixer into the interface and plug your headphones into the mixer instead of the interface to hear your mic or instrument. If it is a soft synth that has latency than that is a midi issue which has separate settings.
Daniel Carl Heister thanks alot. Can you please make a video on how to process, edit and mix vocals in cakewalk with all best and free plugins? It will be really helpful.
@@NupurMaharaj222 Thanks for the request. Unfortunately I don't have time to create a video like that. There are many cakewalk videos about recording and editing vocals. Just do a search for it and you should find anything you need to use cakewalk.
I'm a newbie at audio production but have used a Adobe Audition for simple stuff since 2007. Currently using Cakewalk and taking online classes for audio production. I'm almost done with the basic course, but have a problem with the final exercises. I'm mixing about 16 tracks and a lot have plugins of chorus/reverb/eq. Whether I play them back or try to mix down to a WAV file, I'm getting clicks, pops, static, and dropouts. The audio still plays and I don't get an official pop-up on the screen when it's happening, but I can clearly hear it, i.e., a lead vocal in the middle cuts out or a harmony vocal on the left or right cuts out with static and returns a few seconds later. I have a new HP Envy desktop I got last year using Windows 10. I've tweaked settings for my buffers and have tried to "freeze" tracks and mix down to smaller groups - still have issues. Let me know what tips you recommend so I can get the right settings and have normal function without dropouts. Thanks! NOTE: I've accessed this file below, done all that it says, but still hear hiss and dropouts during playback even though transport keeps on rolling. www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Troubleshooting.18.html
Hi thanks for the question. It sounds like a classic case of too little buffering on your audio interface. The problem isn't Cakewalk. What are you using for an audio interface? You should have a utility that allows you to adjust the buffer size of the interface. When mixing down alot of tracks you really want the buffer size to be at least 1024 or higher. If I try mixing any lower than that I get the same thing your describing.
@@danielcarlheister680 Hi Dan and thanks for the info. I have no audio interface yet, but am not recording yet. I am mixing WAV files I downloaded for a class. Would something like an Audient iD14 help to stop the issues I'm having during mixing/playback? I'm using WASAPI drivers, should I switch to ASIO?
@@saxophonesunsetsmedia Hello, Since you're not using an interface you are at the mercy of whatever sound card you are using. If you have the option to use ASIO I would use that for best results. Just make sure to give the buffer in that ASIO settings (not Cakewalk) ample size to handle the audio. Try it and let me know how it works out. About the Audient interface, yes that would be a great choice. I use a presonus audiobox i2 for my main interface and it works great. It's only about $100 bucks if budget is an issue.
@@danielcarlheister680 Hi Dan. Question for you on speaker setup as I got the Audient iD14. I have Bose Companion dual speakers running into a KVM switch.
