I love the fact you can recognize when you are filming with a cinema camera and a regular one It's something i really like about seeing the ordinary life thru a cinema camera.
@@Joey_Helms amen. I've probably seen it 20-30 times. I'm a big Nolan fan, I just finished the book "The Nolan Variations". Him, Hoytema, Hans, Ludwig. The giants. Can't wait for Oppenheimer next year
Looking good! Thanks for sharing Joey!!! Love how small the 35mm is and how it can fly on a gimbal even with the adapter. That wide FoV is insane at x2
Great video, thanks for sharing !!! I do not the difference with and without the adapter...What would you say about it, what more does this adapter bring? Thanks in advance
it converts 1.6x squeeze anamorphics to 2x, which many regard as ‘the’ anamorphic cinema look. This adapter is an anamorphic block on its own, so screwing onto any spherical lens gives you a 1.25x anamorphic look. Still anamorphic but not very. Downside, Whichever way you use it, it’s a double focus system and no auto-focus whatsoever, not even with lidar systems.
@@the_black_douglas9041 Hi, thanks a lot for your answer !!! I see more clearly, I will still watch your video diligently. I didn't know that don't won't work with the lidar on the RS3, do you know why? Thanks again, have a nice day buddy

Great video Joey. Thanks for uploading and explaining . I have a question regarding Kodak Gold 500 Emulation. What software / LUTS did you use to emulate Kodak Gold ? TIA
this is a nice video Regarding the kodak gold500 at 8:48 in the video, Dehenser's official opinion said that they do not have the kodak gold500. Did you misspelled the profile kodak gold500? Where can I get it? 😅
Looks amazing but it doesn’t look much different from my Pocket 4k and Sirui 1.33x combination. Thanks for the video, you just saved me a ton of money😅
Beautiful footage Joey! Nothing can beat Chicago architecture! I've tested out the 50mm Sirui and the image felt just a touch too soft, so I'm patiently waiting for my Nanomorph :) Any tips for pulling focus on an anamorphic lens while moving on a gimbal? This is something I still struggle with on regular spherical lenses, and I've generally felt that with the desqueezed anamorphic image (especially at 1.8-2x) it can be even more difficult accurately pulling focus.
Just came across your question, and can't resist to provide some answers from my own experience (Lumix S1H, Sirui 50mm T2.9 full frame, DJI RS2 with the Lidar AF Module): 1) My Sirui is tack-sharp when focused correctly (will come to it in a second) - some reviewers even claim it too sharp - but, blurring things up is easy in post 2) Speeze-factor of 1.6 turned out a perfect match when shooting open gate on a 3:2 sensor - the final result after de-queezing is the famous format CinemaScope 2.39:1 which is perfect for ultrawide screens and 16:9 TVs (with some black letter box added by the TV, looking like a Holywood movie) 3) Pulling focus on such a lens (anamorphic) with a gimbal (assuming, you're a 1-man band as I am) goes only by a) using the gimbal's focus motor and the wheel on the gimbal handle, plus a good monitor mounted to the gimbal, ideally with anamorphic de-squeesing and focus peaking - to be honest, I am consistently struggling on my 5'' monitor with this, and focus peaking can be misleading b) using the Lidar focus module for the RS2 (or the newer version for the RS3), and mine for the RS2 works great. Only thing I needed to overcome was the completely misadjusted infinity focus on my Sirui, i.e. when optical infinity was reached there was still some rotation left on the focus throw - in other words: when you throw the barrel mechanically at infinity the optical adjustment is far beyond infinity. This becomes important for such Lidar focus modules as these use the hard mechanical stops of the lens throw as part of their calibration process of the AF. I solved this by getting in touch with Sirui Germany who were extremely supportive and sent me a set of shimming rings - now my lens is at infinity ant the end of the focus throw, and this works perfectly with the focus module. This allows the DJI focus module to automatically adjust the lens to infinity, once the LIDAR gets out of its app. 10m focusing range. c) Another option which I am currently considering is to use smart glasses attached to the camera's HDMI output for focus pulling - This would be a game changer to me and much cheaper than any 3rd party EVF. I will give this a try soon, as there are no good EVFs in the market below 2.5 grands. 4) An issue with anamorpic lens in gerneral (and nobody talks about it) is that any unintended rotation of the camera around the roll axis gets amplified during de-sqeeze in post - this has nothing to do with Sirui. See my first Sirui shots (handheld) here to see what I mean: ua-cam.com/video/C5UPTZDCBZ0/v-deo.html . I just got the lens and wanted to shoot -:) so, using a gimbal or tripod is a good option. Do I work for Sirui, or am I sponsored by them? No! I'm a just an amateur who fell in love with videography, massively inspired by the anamorphic look. No, I need to google up the 'Nanomorph' - never heard about it before.

Looks amazing Kodiak gold 500
What's the difference shooting with adapter and without, is buying The lens only enough?
Good stuff Joey! I just got my lenses and I'm digging it a lot. Off to make movies!😅

Chicago has such great architecture, reason a lot of movies are shot there; my personal favorite - The Dark Knight.
