Here's why Tim has the range that he does. When Tim first joined his school choir he sang tenor. But by the time he entered into the 11th grade, his voice suddenly dropped and he had to switch to bass. During the live premiere I was the one who asked if Chance did the guitar sound. And Tim answered that it was their producer Darren Russ who did it. Love your reactions to Home Free.
A year later, I'm still appreciating these guys. Love their Christmas songs. Thank you again for your reactions.
Isn't Tim amazing in this? Tim co-wrote this one. This might be my favorite vocal of his. And the video is beautiful! All the rest of the guys killed it too. And that's a snow globe they are in, of course.

Tim digs into his soul for that high note. Camera shifts to Austin who is standing back and relaxed with a wink while hitting same notes. Love the song and their voices, but that’s my favorite part of the video!

I originally thought it was Chance making that sound, but apparently Tim had said it was actually Darren Rust adding his own little bit of magic. Whoever it was, it's very impressive.
Yes, somebody asked on the live chat during the premiere who did it, and Tim said it was Darren.
I thought for sure it was Chance too since he made the jaw harp sound in Man of Constant Sorrow.

I’m impressed by your ability to react. This is a favorite of mine so many different things going on. You have to listen to this song several times to really enjoy it. This is the best kind of song for me. I love # HOMEFREE.
You are such a lovely young man (young enough to be my grand child) and I really enjoy your enthusiastic reactions. Chance carries this bass line like a pro. Then when Chance takes lead Tim picks up the bass. That's the real magic in this snow globe -- that these guys can both sing high and low. Tim has gone from a good lookin' country singer to a gorgeous, sexy dude with a 6 octave range and a suave silver streak in his hair. What a transition!!! These guys are just amazing! and that Texas song writer has turned into a force of nature.

Great to see ya back! I love how this one combines both a "country" and a "doo-wop" vibe. It's so exciting to see how they, and Tim in particular, are evolving; I can hardly wait to hear him more as his voice matures...it just keeps getting better and better. I'm not sure how much further Tie's voice will mature - he's over 40 and by that time a voice has reached its natural limits.

I think it was Adam Rupp singing the "odd 4 note drop". You can see his hands moving to each note. Beautiful song; well done by all of them.

Was it Chance doing some unusual bass ? I think this was a beautiful rendition and was written by Tim and some other writer. Wasn’t this fun. My goodness, surprises all around. You: Why Tim? Tim: cause I can. Hahahaha. Yeah Tim wrote it and sung the lead and I loved it. Tim goes high, Chance goes low, Austin goes super high and Rob is his usual good self. Adam with some amazing sounds and someone said maybe Darren Rust did some of those “guitar” sounds? Amazing. I loved it and yes, it has that 50’s 60’s doo wop sounds. Home Free kills it again. Love, love, love your reaction.
The "dom dom dom" sound effect was actually done by their "6th man" their producer Darren Rust. (Tim mentions this in a live chat when he was asked about that.)
I've watched their video so many times! My mind cannot understand Tim singing those high notes. I thought it was a joke at first it was so different. But man, I love this song.

I get an old school country feel from this song. Love the way the bass flawlessly switched back and forth between Chance and Tim. Adam's percussion was so spot on, too.

Great reaction for this beautiful original of Tim. They are inside a Snow Globe.
My best guess is, since you hear the bass notes from Chance drop out, right before you hear the guitar riff, that it's Chance. He imitates a guitar on their cover of 'Can't Stop the Felling,' and I think while Adam Rupp does the harmonica in 'Man of Constant Sorrow,' it's Chance who does the mouth harp sound on that one (which is very similar to a guitar sound).
This is my favorite from this album!!! Can't help but smile.. I'm in awe of these guys.

So glad you’re moved and back at it!! Missed you, even though you had reactions being released to fill in the gaps while you were busy! I loved your surprised reaction when Tim came in with his high verse! Yep! He went there! lol One of my favorite parts of the song is that bass guitar effect sone by their producer/arranger, Darren Rust! He has his own group, The Blenders, who are amazing, by the way. I think he may have filled in some other bass notes while Chance was doing his bass line during the song. I love this song so much! It is one of my 2 favorites on the album!!

This video, and the one for Warmest Winter were filmed using something called Extended Reality - they've got a huge computer screen behind them, the background is generated on the fly and there are sensors on the floor to tell the computer where the cameras are. It's a very impressive set-up, that they also used for some parts of their Christmas Special. Apparently it's been used for computer games and TV shows but they are one of the first groups to use it for a music video.

You can always tell who's doing what when it comes to Tim and Adam, at least. Just watch their hands. When you hear that Don don don don, Adam's hands are hitting the beats. And why does Tim that...because he can. lol! This is my favorite out of the whole album, It's that 50's vibe, I guess, but it pulls me in and won't let go. Thank you! They are so amazing, and the scenery is fabulous.

You gotta love a group where there are 2 men handing off bass and lead seamlessly as well as having the ability to sing everything from bass to tenor without it affecting the quality of the sound. At least something good came out of the pandemic. Home Free kept up their work ethic and produced some awesome videos and wrote some amazing music both for the group and for their solo channels. ❤

yes Blue Ain't your Color, and also another one in that style...I'm not sure you've heard this one yet (you definitely should), Die a happy man. I do thin they've upgraded their cameras...I'm curious what they are using to film this....I think they used to use a Canon 1DX Mark II, but this color scheme looks very Sony to me....I wonder ! (yes I now a bit about photography/videography you can check out a couple of my videos)
This video and "Warmest Winter" were filmed utilizing XR technology. They used it in the special for a couple of performances as well. So those are different cameras than either their home setups or what Jimmy Barnes has used to film them with (pre-pandemic). Not sure if that helps?
As Debs said the video is filmed with XR (Extended Reality) technology which has the background on a huge LED screen and there are all these points on the floor that the technology uses to make the image always look 3D. I understand it’s very expensive and not frequently used in music videos. Home Free used it in their Christmas special and since the setup was all there they took advantage of the situation to film some videos (to get a little more for the money they’d already spent.) I’m sure the cameras associated with the technology really good (or the technology makes the input from the normal cameras look really good!)

I've missed you Qofy! I am glad I watched this, not just for that reason, but I have been wondering which one was doing the "new" guitar sound. Thanks to the other home fries for clearing it up that Darren Rust was responsible for that. Who knew, right? In "Your Man" live, the other guys chide Tim for singing in "their" range. LOL Now they are letting him without much of a fuss. Great reaction!

Like how awesome it would be if we could actually get a snow globe like that 🙌, with them singing inside it. Tim is fabulous in his range and since he co-wrote the song I’m sure he his totally satisfied with how it all turned out.
I’m the kind of person that listens to the lyric and learning very fast. And my family always jokes about me remembering lyrics in a song I haven’t heard in like 20 years 😂. So impressed with Tim’s range. He wrote a great song too! I think the high quality of the video has to do with it being recorded right after they finished with the Christmas special. They were able to use the same equipment/technology as for the special, I believe.

The "wap" guitar effect was actually Tim, but was added after the fact. Now, both Chance and Adam are capable of similar effects, but they can't go nearly as low as Tim.
