Maybe it was cheating to have Darren add in the 'guitar', but he is considered the 6th member. And, yes, the switch between Tim and Chance was seamless. It happens in a lot of songs where people trade lines - sometimes in the middle of a line - and you notice no disruption. In Tim's doo-wop album, it rarely sounds like 1 person doing different ranges, it sounds like different voices. Not a clue how he does it, but his high stuff is, in its way, as glorious as his lows. Some people complained that the Warmer Winter album wasn't a "Christmas" one, but the fact that it has a number of "not Christmas" ones is great as far as I am concerned.
Tim didn't just hit the rafters with this one he went through the roof. He has an amazing range and I love to hear it. Seeing them in March and can't wait. Traveling from DC to Nashville just to see them that's how good they are in person.
Tim is such a talented writer that he is definitely at the top for me. His lyrics are so beautiful, often with poetic sentences. It's great how Tim goes so high here and Chance does the bass and sings a verse so smoothly with his beautiful voice. I think they're all great and talented with their own specialties, but I often find Chance (and Rob too) underrated in the comments. The "guitar" sound is made by Darren Rust, the sixth member as they sometimes call him. That in combination with Adam's fabulous vocal percussion, it sounds like a full-fledged band. And how nice is it that they are in a Snow Globe. Magnificent.
There is a common misconception that Chance is underrated, in fact it's become one of those things that is accepted without any real evidence. In fact, almost everyone loves his voice! and it's only the rabid Timites (who constantly behave as if Tim were the only member of the band worth mentioning) who ignore his beautiful voice and massive talent. if there is any underrating, I think it may simply be because the baritone part is more difficult to pick out of a harmony than eg the tenor voices.
@@patriciamcl54 I think part of it is that historically back when Chris was with the group they would usually double-track Tim's bass on the studio recordings when he was singing lead (obviously Chris sang the bass harmony live), so there's often an assumption that they're still doing that, so it comes as a shock when people realize that voice down in the basement is Chance. It really shouldn't -- the man has a four octave range and sang bass with SCS -- but it still trips people up. Also a lot of folks heavily recommend old songs with Chris in them or songs that literally feature everyone but Chance singing lead to new reactors (Butts Remix, All About that Bass, Man of Constant Sorrow, When a Man Loves a Woman, End of the Road for example), so if they follow the majority suggestions, it can be *months* before they get to hear anything significant from Chance (I've seen reactors 6 months into their HF journey be floored at their first hearing of a Chance lead). Folks really should update their recommendations list to include at least one thing with a Chance lead... So anyhow, yes, if you look at the list of most commonly recommended songs to new reactors, Chance would certainly appear to be underrated. I think newer fans, especially those who've interacted with Chance via his Laid Back Cafe or Twitch streams, are more appreciative of his talent and maybe a little annoyed at the old guard who ignore him in their recommendations. So it's becoming less of a thing, but it certainly has been a thing.
I love it when the boys make you toss your headphones. Ha! You just never know what's going to happen next with them. Great lyrics, great melody and fabulous vocal percussion. And Tim's surprising slide into the stratosphere. Great reaction.
That song was so adorable, I was smiling the whole way through like you were. The lyrics were just perfect, Tim is an amazing songwriter it honestly kind of blows my mind sometimes. And just everything about the vocals is amazing too, all of the guy's talent just blows my mind too. I'm glad that I'm starting to get into home free because honestly I'm not really a fan of country music (I still appreciate it though for what it is) but Home free just does country music in such a unique way that makes it easier for me to listen to.
Always love it when Chance gets a turn to strut his stuff ... he allows so much versatility to the arrangements ... Tim gets to show his higher register and we still get the warm bass !
Mortius, as Joan said, the guitary bit (down, down, down, dow) at the end of the chorus isn't any of the official members of HF, but rather their producer/sound engineer/arranger, Darren Rust, he will typically record everyone's lines and send them to them for recording (when they were in lockdown especially) and that was him doing that, they liked it so much they kept it in. Tim talks about that (and a bunch of other interesting things) in his interview/chat with The Charismatic Voice
Thanks for saving this for January. Another song that is not Christmas related but also good for this month is Winter Song which I believe is the only Home Free video so far with just Austin and Chance sharing the lead.
That sound was actually made by none other than the 6th member of the group Darren Rust. I'm so glad that you finally got to this song. I truly enjoy watching your reaction to this song.
Tim made a joke when the album came out about it not being a Christmas song, but sneaking it on to the album by the same logic that they put Colder Weather on their last Christmas album...
Love, love, love that you finally did this one. Could tell you really enjoyed between your excitement, facial expressions and the sway to the song. Keep doing you- love your videos. Also right that at the end it didn’t sound like Tim. Thought the same thing when I first heard this. Definitely was a ‘want to throw the headphones’ moment.
This had to be the cutest reaction of yours's ever. You did point out some things structurally I'd not heard before. Always appreciate your fun analysis.
Hey Algorythm, suggest this video more, its good. Sorry, I'm in a weird mood today, now back to watching Mortius' reaction.. 😆 edit: nice expressive dancing and singen, Mortius 👍
This is another one, along with "What's left of my heart" that I think would be a good match for classic country radio ... And it would also be a great first dance song for a *winter* wedding (or even a summer one; snow globes know no seasons).
If radio stations would ever play this on the air during the holidays it would become an instant hit!! Also someone said that the one doing the deep Doodoo Doodoo use at the end are provided by Darren rust the producer! Really nice reaction!
I really enjoy this original song written by Tim. I don't consider it a holiday song at all. It is just a beautiful melody. Love the sweet lyrics & it really showcases Tim's range. Agree that Chance is great at holding down the bass when Tim sings lead. Love the backing harmonies & Adam's tasteful vocal percussion.
This song is so amazing who ever thought of the snow globe is brilliant so many singers out there and no one ever came out with something like this I could listen to this everyday
Tim's lyrics and melody really capture that ecstatic feeling when you've finally found the right one. He's *such* a gifted songwriter. The one thing that always makes me chuckle about this is that after Tim shows off his high range, you get all these show-offy bits from the two tenors, like, "Oh, he can sing high, but listen to this!" But, yes, this is definitely a favorite that fortunately can be played year-round rather than just Christmas.
Home Free is IT!!!!!!!!! They make all kinds of music epic................... I want them with new music and I want them covering all my favorites, because they just make it better than anyone else consistantly!!! 💟
Thank you, Mortius! Your face gives us your honest reaction and I love it! Their new song, So Long Dixie is my new favorite - until they come up with another one. 😉
Is Tim not just crazy in his range or what? He is a master of the voice in octaves. I'm pretty sure this is my favorite original song by these guys. It was just written so well. They are bar non the best acapella group ever. Thank you for the video brother!!! This is just perfect.
I love anything by Home Free. Tim's originals are always a treat. I was blown away by the deep electric bass guitar sound done by the sixth member of Home Free, Darren Rust.
Wasn’t that fun?!! Thank you for noticing how high Tim goes! He’s remarkable really. Tim wrote this song. It’s so cute and the boys did a great job. I understand that weird sound isn’t from Adam but from Darren, their producer, which is still cool. How does he do that? Anyway, I love the song and your analysis!🥰
I loved your reaction ! I laughed all the way through! I really like that you didn't edit out the glitch, it makes a video so much more entertaining when it isn't perfect. I've been subscribed for awhile and always enjoy you! Please keep doing all the a cappella groups. It's a genre that doesn't get enough appreciation in the music world!
I freaking love this song and I love your reactions to Home Free! You say with your(sometimes lack of)words, body language and expressive dancing 🎧 exactly how I feel whenever I listen to Home Free. Thank you for being you 😘 Oh and: algorithm!
Home Free did this so well. I just heard Voiceplay's new song featuring Jnone, Nothing else Matters. The harmonies will break you. Thanks for your great analysis and reactions
There are a bunch of originals on Austin's channel: "Off the Grid", "If I Met You Now", "Earn it" and "Rest of My Life" are some of them. If you haven't yet seen "Sweet & Low Music Co." - it's a real treat. It's a side project of Tim and Austin and a bunch of other singer/song writers (among them Chris Chatham & Jeffrey East). Tim & Austin intend to do these live streams when they're not touring/recording/video taping with Home Free and/or recording on their own channels and song writing and I'm not sure when they expect to breathe . . .
I had to wait 2 and a half years due to Covid to see them in Cincinnati, let me say I enjoyed their music before seeing them live. Now I love it! I was able to see them again in Troy for the Christmas context OMG I was so blessed with VIP tickets. I was in the second row. To feel the base from Tim running through your body while he sang was amazing. Looking forward to the next concert. Loved your review. Thank you.
one of my favorite songs, but least reacted to. Tim is such a GREAT song writer, as well as his range...I cant wait to see HF live, thats on my bucket list this year. I love your reactions.
Absolutely right, they even mentioned once it wasn't intended to be a Xmas song, The guitar isn't Adam, it's Darrin their producer, that adds that in .
Thank you for this fun HFreaction. There is a great winter song on the album written by Austin called Warmest Winter of All. I think you would like reacting to it. Cheers!
You facing the wall with Darren Rust adding that signature sound made my day. My feed didn't show your HF reaction. Luckily I always check your channel for HF reactions. Loved it.
I wish Tim would stick to the register he sings in here - it's so much prettier than his bass, which is tbh not very pleasant compared to Chance. Being able to go deep is a matter of stats and nothing to do with quality.. Judging from the comments below, this is a convention of fangirlers who will react in fury that anyone should dare to say that Saint Tim is anything but perfection. Tough. You didn't notice Austin's little smile when Tim hits his highest note, clearly thinking OK, but wait for this.
Great reaction! Tim really is a talented lyricist. I used to work at an event center years ago that venued a lot of weddings, and I predict this song will be quite popular at weddings!
Saucy dad described this as 'baby making music'!

This is amazing. Tim is so flipping sexy in this. The guys background vocals is amazing. Love Chance as well.
Thanks for reacting to this! Doesnt get enough attention.
"winds of *change* " not chance.
Tim , what a genius songwriter and singer!! Home Free forever!!
Can we add a word of praise for Keelan Donovan, co-writer?
Bow wow wow That is Darrien Rust Producer Long time unofficial 6th member of HF and Blenders power house in his own right. Yeah Darrien !!!!

Love this video and love your reaction as usual!
Another beautiful song that I don't think you've reacted to is their cover of Winter Song. You also need to do their latest release So Long Dixie.

Glad you finally got to this one - one of my favourites.
I enjoyed your reaction
Why would you be surprised by Tim's high range, humm
This is my favorite " Christmas " original 🥰🤗 thank you Mortius 🏠 🍟
It's great song

I agree, this song isn't explicitly Christmassy. I love it and keep it on my play list year long!
I think its easier not to thnk of Tim as a bass singer. He is is a singer who is known for his bass, but he also sings tenor on occasion.
It seems almost criminal to only play this song in December. It is one of their best!!!
I love your reactions! You Crack me up so much 🤣 🥰
