    Nice car and amazing job making an LS1 look like a stock TPI with Edelbrock runners

    • @torque-ej4nu

      I was thinking the same damn thing.
      And to all those who don't get the joke... we know it's a tpi, making a joke about everything having an ls engine now a days. I hate that it's so overdone, but hey, chevy made a badass motor that found it's way into more than just gm cars and they topped it off with yet an even more badass engine in the LS and LT, but it's nice to see a TPI or 2nd gen LT1/LT4 built for the car it came in thru the 80s and 90s, as they are now whats different from the normal trend. Forgotten and overlooked power plants.

    Killer. Color is perfect. I had a chance to buy a Tan color 86 or 87 back in 88. Bought a Burgundy 86 Mustang GT 5.0 instead . 3 months later guy runs a stop sign with me doing 75mph . Totaled both cars.

    I applaud you!!! Though not a numbers matching "restoration", it's a hell of a lot closer to what is being described as "restored" these days. Kudos for keeping original engine, trans, interior and wheels, and NOT another friggin LS swap. This will keep its value over the years if not go UP in value. Very nice build. I'm sure you are proud of it.

      ls swaps are brilliant and modernize the car in a way only an ls can do,more power,better mileage.

    I wish I was able to take my 87 shell all part like how you did but I don’t have the Knowledge or the room. I’ll just have to paint the whole car the best I can. Great work!

    Like the majority of the opinions here before me, I too would have gone a bit different with the engine. But it wasn't me who built this amazing car. 3rd gen is BY FAR the best generation of Camaro. Great job man.

    I remember racing and winning a car just like that back in the day with my 66 Buick Skylark GS. The guy couldn't believe a tired nailhead could do that. Sobered up a drunk friend with that race, too.

    Always had love for the IROC. My dad had a white drop top when I was a kid and I was crazy about the thing. And the first car I ever bought was a burgundy hard top like this one. One day I want to purchase another one, same color and all original.....but maybe a lsx hidden under the hood 😉

    If you've never owned a 3rd gen car you can't knock them, they were better in handling than the first two gens. A car with it's own body style, I owned 69, 80, 87 gens and these ones are coming back the 80's cars. I recently purchased one , but as a project car and BTW I'm putting an LS motor swap to get this car more reliable.
    Now look at the 5th gen body, it's not unique, it's a first gen body style to begin with. It's no different than taking what's original and making better, some things can't be changed but these cars appeal to a younger generation, but when I drive my 1987 IROC around even in rough shape the heads still turn. Most of these cars got wrecked, people actually drove them and I don't see many on the roads as before. They will get their due soon IMO as I've noticed the prices are starting to climb, you either loved em or hated them.

    • @rogermurph101
      @rogermurph101 6 років тому

      Agreed. I would have left the decals off myself, but if I had to put something on there, I'd go with black and silver.

    • @jjohnson479
      @jjohnson479 5 років тому +1

      I was saying the same thing. Should have went with the red decals if you were going to put the decals on. Really should have left them off since you didn't paint it to an original IROC color. Where is the LS1??

  • @YOUGOTIT210

    This is the L-98 Engine, which produced 245 HP. It could beat the LS1 off the line. Nice looking, and very rare 1990 which was only produced for about 6 months because Chevy dropped out of the IROC. (Former owner of a 1990 IROC Z28 L98 all original)

    • @rogermurph101
      @rogermurph101 6 років тому

      YOUGOTIT210 it's a ZZ4 crate motor with L98 heads.

    • @iamasmurf1122
      @iamasmurf1122 5 років тому

      I find that hard to believe beating an LS1 off the line , I have in Australia a holden VY Calais , 5.7 litre LS1 , motor its luxury variant of the holden commodore , it has factory 301 HP , and the LS1 I can expand that with maybe a couple of grands worth of modifications up to 400 HP so I doubt very much your claims are real

      Faithful Servant
      2ng generation was my favorite, even though I never had one, tons of Buick stuff, several SS Chevelles, three 70 Monte Carlo SS454 cars. My Buick GSX 455 Stage 1 would run circles around my Chevelles and Monte Carlos.

  • @tltsw
    @tltsw 7 років тому +2

    Umm that's not a LS 1 though. That's a LT1 5.7 LTR but I would keep the LT1 because of it being the original option during that time period. A LS1 would have been a huge upgrade over the tuned port. I thinks someone else called it a TBI and they obviously don't know anything about what they see. Great resto on this beautiful IROC.
