This here was a normal father and son project back in the 70's. Now these days it is rare. If I could give 2 thumbs up I would. Teenagers today really do not know what they are missing. Most of all, this is a great Dad, and should be proud of his son.
man i wish my father would do sumn like this with me though i think his motivation to do it was killed by my brother who took his truck there, worked on it for like 2-3 days, now its been sitting outside his house for the last 3-4 years
My father did this with me on a old $300.00 73 Camaro my senior year of high school . Rust bucket showed me how to do body work . Earl Scheib paint Job. Turned out great .
The IROC decals are the ultimate final touch on a IROC Z, it BLOWS my mind you made this car look awesome but left the most important final touch,,,,, IROC Z
My father found me my first and only Camaro 13 years ago (1988 rs), and I was 15. Today I ripped it down the highway for the first time in a couple of years. I love that car and my dad.
Breath taking results, but the fact this is a father and son effort makes it even more amazing. This is a real labor of love and a testament of the magic that exists between father and son!
Can’t wait to do the same with my father I recently bought him one he had this exact car from this video when I was child except stock hood. Overall it is the car that made me a Chevy guy. Can’t wait to build it
The fastest this old man was in one of those. It was a year or so old the frameless side windows got pulled out so much I could stick my hand out. The best part of your vid is father n son working on it together.
I absolutely love these IROC's, they are the Quintessential 80's car. My neighbors nephew had one when I was a teen, his was a little bit brighter blue with Silver wheels and Silver IROC Graphics and Grey Interior. I just bought a 84 Camaro (Not an IROC) that my son, grandson and I are going to rebuild for my grandson's first car. Were going to leave the base Camaro front end on it because we all like it better but were going to put a IROC Hood and Spoiler on it. It came with the plain jane 305 so were just going to rebuild it. We have no idea what color were going to repaint it yet but were thinking yellow, that's grandson's favorite color with grey interior, we live in the Arizona and black vinyl would get REALLY hot in the summer.
It's nice to have a Dad that has the ability to do that to your car. He has years of experience. Awesome job guys. Love seeing these cars again. btw i do this for a living so i appreciate the video.
Very nice. Thanks for the video. I bought an '85 IROC-Z in April of 1985. It was a lighter, brighter blue. A one-year only color. Electric blue I think. I kept it 12 years. I traded it in in 1997 for a '97 Jeep Wrangler. I still have the Wrangler. In immaculate condition. Before I had the IROC, I had an '83 Z-28. 5.0 H.O. with 5 speed. I kept it two years. I miss those cars. They bring back memories. Now I drive Dodge RT's.
My second car after a 1981 280ZX was a 1987 IROC when I was @ 20. I kept getting beat on the street by 5.0 Mustangs at the time, so I bought a 1991 Mustang convertible. I currently drive a 2008 Dodge Charger Super Bee Edition #798 fast as hell, but out of all the cars I should have kept was my IROC. To this day it just felt right driving it, I wish you well on your project I know you will enjoy the heck out of it. I'm older now and retired, you can surely bet I'm going to get another find another. Thanks for saving your's.
Can't even sugarcoat.. This video made me tear up. My father and I were supposed to build a Camaro together, but he passed away before we started.. I was 14. I'm 27 now..
I had a 85 IrocZ with t tops the same blue color just graduated high school my first car bought it with my own money coolest car I’ve ever owned in my opinion the best color for an IrocZ
man I can't believe you did that in a regular garage with no paint booth but you know way more than me so bravo. These 3rd gens are such great project cars, the styling is iconic, parts a plenty, easy to work on
17 years ago I was 14 and bought a 84 berlinetta and didn't tell my dad till I got it home. We had a rough relationship but the one thing that brought us together was that car before he passed. So awesome to see this
Well done guys , car looks awesome , my dad bought me a 75 camaro back in the early 80’s , we spent 8 months tearing down the car and rebuilding it , my dad dropped in an 83 corvette motor in it , what a fast car I had , I wish I still had the camaro and my dad , we lost him to cancer August of 2022 , 😞
When I was 19 (back in 1994) I almost bought an 1988 IROC in really nice condition, but the guy wanted 8 Grand for it and I just didn't have that kind of money. And my Dad reminded me that it snowed a lot in the winter in BC. So I opted for a Chevy Beretta GT instead. A good reliable car, but it would have been more fun to have the IROC!
It's good you took it down to bare metal because even if a car looks great, it can hide lots of nasty surprises that will catch up with you sooner or later. You really did an excellent job. It looks even better than new!
Man that brought back so many memories of me and my dad thanks for sharing I would give anything for just one more build with my dad beautiful car too always liked them Iroc-z camaros
It's great you to are working together please keep in mind when you're done with that beautiful camaro put a aftermarket alarm on it I've had seven from 1987 up to 2002 and they all were stolen. I miss my babies. Now I have a 2017 with a aftermarket alarm. 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Enjoy the vehicle buddy! Love the restoration work you to did together also the color blue pop's
Bringing back memories of driving halfway across the contry to pick up his red 1990 Iroc in 2007. A few years later I brought home a 1984 Z28. We still enjoy our Camaro's and yes his is faster then mine.
Overall decent job. I'm a body tech and custom painter. I'm very picky. Get rid of the white letter tires, and put the IROC stickers on it. It could be dropped 2" all around, as well.
Absolutely awesome! The best part, of course.... is that this is an amazing Father-Son project. But man oh man.... do I want one of these great American Sports Cars! That baby is just absolutely gorgeous!! Subbing.
My favorite Camaro body style, I had finally gotten one about 18 years ago and lost it In less then a couple months! I guess it wasn't meant to be😢 it only needed a paint job and minor interior work. So mad about it.
omg i want to have this as my project car so badddd. I was interested in the new camaro ZL1, but i always felt like something was missing, i have a snack for older cars, so i fell in absolute love with the IROC-Z camaro. Now its my life and i want it so bad.
Nice Job! Working on a project with your Dad or Son is special. I painted few in that color, definitely one of Chevrolets best color. Painting in the garage brings back memories. The only thing I would've done differently is replace the hood. I have yet to see bondo on a hood that didn't eventually crack.
Gentlemen, very, very Super well done ! AWESOME ! The choice of color is great but I'd have rather choosen US Summer light Sky Blue metallic. What ever you've done very good, nice job and car project.
My mum and dad had one back in 91 a 87 350 Iroc z with bilstein suspension and had a cobra painted on the hood. If you saw it in Florida back in the late 80’you wouldn’t forget that . This one’s great, I wouldn’t have the white lettering but everything else looks kushti

It is truly an amazing father son project that was great to see from start to finish! Amazing machine!
Thank you we really enjoyed building this car.

I get the sneaky suspicion that Dad has done this before??? Absolutely outstanding work! Gorgeous car!!
Just magnificent...makes me appreciate my 1988 5.7 Iroc-Z...wish I had your hood louvers and your beautiful paint job
That's some exceptional body work
One of my favs in high school. I loved the canary yellow with dark tint!!!

Nice job. Thanks for not pimping our that car. Keeping it close to stock. Have 86 IROC, 86 WS6 TA and 92 RS. Love third gens.

I had one of those. Bought it new in 1986. Red exterior and red interior, tuned port injected. Loved that car.
Almost $20,000 lol
Honestly blown away from the amazing transformation , she is perfect n I really love the colour n those vents .

Great project guys, love it.

Overall decent job. I'm a body tech and custom painter. I'm very picky. Get rid of the white letter tires, and put the IROC stickers on it. It could be dropped 2" all around, as well.
Awesome, thanks for bringing 1 back I love the IROC Z28. Your work and passion is showing in the car.

Outstanding job. Your father son project is a success. My son lasted about a day. Lol. Well done.
