Sir David Attenborough, attended Wimbledon just the other day with his daughter and when he went to take his seat he got a standing ovation from the crowd, he truly is a national treasure and world leaders should listen to his warnings of the state of our natural world , I've been watching his programmes all my life, by the way his brother was the famous British actor and director sir Richard Attenborough .
We often talk about rabbit holes for some careers of people appearing in these vids. Beware Davids' deep dive......you'll need plenty of tv snacks & several years of viewing time. All of your emotions will be exposed till they are quite raw. I've watched nearly all of his work over the years & now have grandchildren who are as enthralled as I have ever been watching his work. What can you say about or to this man......? Thank you seems to fall embarrassingly short. This man is revered.....as he should be.
David Attenborough was part of my childhood watching his TV programmes in the 1950s. Black & white TV in those days. There was a moment missing in the 10 in the video. When Sir David encountered a Silverback Gorilla. Lot more intense than the one shown.
A true national treasure is far more than, and far greater than, a celebrity. Luckily for him, us and the natural world he was also, for a period of time, the controller of BBC2 which, I believe (ask other commentators) is the reason he was able to allocate the budgets needed for natural history; the reason for the budgets to grow, with the best cameramen/women, plus naturalists being more than willing to work with him. Long Live Sir David.
Sir David is part of a greatly gifted British family. His older brother, Richard, Lord Attenborough, was an actor (The Great Escape) and film director (Jurassic Park, A Bridge Too Far, Gandhi, etc). His parents fostered Jewish refugee children during the Second World War, and was Principal of University College, Leicester.
A long career and a much loved figure , Sir David has been on tv for my entire life . I can actually remember the b& w clip. He was also made controller of the new 3rd channel BBC2 in 1969 , the programmes he commissioned helped shape British tv . He returned to his love of nature made so many fantastic series all over the world , He has many sets of the same outfit for continuity . As the narrator said he is an undisputed National treasure .
A few years ago I wrote to him to thank him for his work. I have most of his programmes on DVD. I grew up watching them as I have a love of nature and the environment. I received a short hand written reply from him thanking me for my thoughts on his programmes. I keep it with my exam certificates.
David is a world treasure. He makes the natural world accessible to all and he does it with brilliance and passion. He will be missed and mourned deeply on a global level when that time comes. No one comes close to Sir David when it comes to the natural world.
Most of us thought he’d be anointed as King last year, but genetics got in the way. We would have all voted for him as leader of the country - but he didn’t stand - he’s not a megalomaniac. He’s magnificent.
Sir David Attenborough was one of several presenters that focused on animals when I was a child in the 70s/80s. There was also David Bellamy and Johnny Morris, each with their own style of presenting that kids loved to watch.
I watched a Davis Attenborough documentary from like 60 years ago where he buys an orangutan that the locals had caged cos it was a pest, for a pouch of tobacco, which I believe is still at London zoo. He is a national treasure ❤ Ohh mad that clip is in here 😂😂
As divided as Britain is these days, I feel David Attenborough is truly one of the only people that is universally loved. I get so so sad at the thought of losing him, it will definitely feel like losing a beloved family member.
David Attenborough has a very soothing voice.. he's a National bloody treasure. I think he got a standing ovation yesterday when he attended Wimbledon to watch the tennis.. so cute 😍
I think us brits love David Athomborough because most of us grew up watching him in the enormous amount of wildlife programmes, he was working with the BBC way back in the 50’s and still does even at his advanced age. He genuinely is an incredible man and I think you should check out some of his many many other programmes he’s made over the years! Enjoy JP you will still be trying to watch his programs in 20 years if you don’t watch anything else lol 😊 love the way you are so respectful it’s refreshing 😊
Love David Attenborough. You need to check out his clip showing the amazing Lyre bird, imitating chain saws and car alarms. Really good. It's on UA-cam.
I was lucky enough to meet him when I did a stint via my uni course as a mature student. I was at the BBC Bristol studios helping with them cataloguing their miles and miles of footage. He was a lovely man, and his voice is just right for these nature programs. His shows are just amazing
I remember Lonely George, being the very last one of a species...it actually still bring out a couple of tears. As you say, I too need to "revisit" Sir David.
Sir David is really our national treasure, unofficial monarch:). If you enjoy natural history documentaries.....just watch anything he's done, its all terrific. This guy is a true original. An often overlooked fact about him is that when he was controller of BBC2 in the 1960's, he commissioned one of the most influential comedy shows of all time...Monty Python.
I first watched David Attenborough when I was a teenager in Black and white , I am now 71 and he is still the same interesting person . We tried never io miss any of his programmes .
David Attenborough is a great man and has made so many superb videos over the years. Having watched this clip, one thing I would say to him is never stand below a bird with your mouth open! They have a habit of dropping messages from above!
Hi Joel. It's only within the last twenty years that David Attenborough has stayed largely away from in front of the cameras. Prior to that he spent forty years trekking from the Arctic to the jungle presenting the programmes on location, interacting with the animals and even hauling some of the equipment and supplies through rugged terrain.
He got a standing ovation at Wimbledon the other day. I actually had a cup of tea with him following a book signing in Birmiongham for his Life on Earth book perhaps 40 years ago - he was very nice.
Because of the progress in filming technologies, the latest few series in recent years has given us extraordinary quality in the filming of wildlife. Drones for example with their high definition cameras have shown us breath taking shots in areas that a few years ago would have been very difficult, if not impossible to film.
My favourite David Attenborough video is of the Australian Lyrebird. These birds are great mimics and can copy the sounds of man-made objects such as chainsaws, car alarms, and camera shutters.
Thanks for warming my heart with your kind words and obvious respect for him. This wonderful man is so talented and such a legend and is loved by both young and old. ❤
I was introduced to him when I was about 6 or 7 when Life on Earth was first broadcast at the end of the 70's and he was instrumental in inculcating a love of natural history in me. If you really want to follow through on his works, Joel, then Life on Earth would be a good (if long) place to start. It's dated, of course, and has no special effects but it charts life on our planet from the very beginnings right the way through and the majesty of his language and the acuity which he brings to the subject will, I hope, blow you away. It certainly did me as a kid.
Sadly, Sir David's documentaries and series are frequently accused of faking scenes, which the BBC confirm. The wolf call sequence, for instance, is made up of many sequences of wolves in different locations at different times, with additional wold calls dubbed on top. Most nature documentaries do this on a regular basis.
DA was given a very generous 89th birthday audience by President Obama. Nine years on, it is wonderful that DA is still with us both physically and more importantly, mentally. Amazing that he has +17 years on President Biden. Age is definitely not just a number. Thank you for the appreciation.
Sir David was born twenty days before my wonderful mother. 1926 was a year for making some wonderful people. The world certainly owes that man a debt it can never repay. Thank you Sir David and thank you Joel for yet another great reaction.
Were you aware that David Attenborough’s brother was Richard Attenborough, a very well known film star. Have you ever seen “The Great Escape”? Although David has always been my favourite, he is one of those people who, liking him comes natural to everyone.
Not watched this yet, but you cannot go wrong with Sir David. My lifelong hero since watcing black and white TV on BBC2 in the 70s and 80s. Not just a voice over!! He is well travelled expert and initiated many of the biggest wildlife organisations like WWF! What long and well spent life. I walked past his house in Surrey once. 🇬🇧✌️😍
I remember when I was about 10 I'm 78 now he was standing in a cave somewhere on top of a massive mound of bat poo his eyes Warter g his nose running the smell was so bad now that is dedication, wonderful man
Although Attenborough is now a conservationist, it was not always like this. In his early career he worked for London Zoo and was given a shopping list of many different animals to capture for the zoo
I'm 73, and he was already a 'face' on television when my family got its first telly when I was 6. Before him, nature programmes meant bringing animals from London Zoo into the studio for filming. I've grown up with him my whole life.
David Attenborough was also senior manager at the BBC, having served as controller of BBC Two and director of programming for BBC Television in the 1960s and 1970s. To be honest, my own view is that was the BBC's best period and has since remarkably declined.
@@JonathanReynolds1 Well, there had been colour series before, such as The Avengers and The Saint, but they were shot in colour for export as well as the home market. Of course, we saw them in monochrome until we all gradually started to buy colour TVs. My family didn't afford one until Christmas 1982. The first time that I saw anything in colour was round my godmother's and I saw an episode of UFO broadcast on Anglia TV. She was well off.
That reminds me.... I must watch American History X again sometime. Sorry, dude. It was literally my first thought when seeing the thumbnail. 😉 With that thought exercised. Now I shall watch the video and enjoy your usual appreciation of British people and stuff!
Hi JP Ijust wanted to see if you have watched the great British comedy series of films called The Carry on films, they were really popular in their day, also you should definitely check out Paul O’Grady who’s character Lilli Savage was another national treasure who was also a great animal lover too. I think you will love it it’s hilarious 🤣
It will be a sad day when he passes. Truly the best naturalist since Darwin. I've watched almost all of his series since I was born over 60 years ago (in Leicester, his home town) and have loved every one.
"Life in the Freezer" was my favourite. I watched it in the late 1990s, and woke up my four children when I laughed loudly at the massive colony of penguins! I think this is the scene: ua-cam.com/video/EiQzls8YQcw/v-deo.html

It's from a documentary about conservation and a tree planting initiative she set up. I have the documentary and will be putting it up on Friday
my mother was born in 1926 and still alive
i WROTE TO HIM VIA THE BBC, AS-TO WHY HE HADN'T MADE A SERIES ON THE WORLDS BUTTERFLIES, AND TO MY SURPRISE, HE WROTE BACK TO ME. SAYING, AS HE WAS ''NOW 80'' , AND WOULDN'T BE MAKING ANY MORE LONG TREKS ABROAD. BUT OF COURSE, HE WAS TALKED INTO OTHER'S, BUT NOW, MOSTLY VOICE OVER'S.

Mel Brooks just joined the 98 clubs, with Sir David and Dick van Dyke

You've beaten me to it, I was going to add the same comment. I hope he watches this touching scene.
Richard Attenborough was ennobled - he became Lord Attenborough.
We often talk about rabbit holes for some careers of people appearing in these vids. Beware Davids' deep dive......you'll need plenty of tv snacks & several years of viewing time. Didn't think people like you would find acting a noble profession.
He was John Hammond so he basically is jurrasic park altogether
Theres a recent clip of him attending Wimbledon, and everyone stopping and applauding him as he comes in x
Watched it a few times. Wasn't it fantastic . So much love for a wonderful man. 🥰
Yes. He was there just yesterday.
David Attenborough is a world treasure. His nature shows are the standard for which all others are judged. Great video Jp!!!
Lovely reaction , Jps . I am 71 , my first recollection of Sir David was when he captured a Komodo dragon! What a man!

The best of the best. I always watch his shows. He's had an amazing life, going virtually everywhere and seeing everything. A national treasure.

Sir David started his career capturing animals for zoos. This was filmed and when the presenter was injured, he took over and never looked back.

Hi JP. As a German i grew up with Heinz Sielmann. He was the german Attenborough of my youth. Maybe you can have a look at him, too.
His brother was Sir Richard Attenborough, an actor and director. Both famous in their own right. Incredible brothers.
If there ever was a legend in documantaries, Sir David is it! :)
David genuinely is my favourite person in the world aside from my family lol, i really just wish people listened to him…
My favourite David Attenborough video is of the Australian Lyrebird. These birds are great mimics and can copy the sounds of man-made objects such as chainsaws, car alarms, and camera shutters.
David and his brother richard are and were both amazing
Since we got a video on him, I hope we get one on Jane Goodall and her interview with John Oliver.
National Treasure... long may he continue to be so.
Thanks for warming my heart with your kind words and obvious respect for him. This wonderful man is so talented and such a legend and is loved by both young and old. ❤

What an awesome video and reaction. I so enjoy when you are leading us to learn more. Thanks Peace
Yes,Sir David really is a national treasure. Abd a pioneer of television, not just in nature
He got a standing ovation at Wimbledon earlier this week when sitting next to David Beckham.
Sir David is a national treasure ❤
Your haircut looks really awesome Joel such another amazing video man
My favourite Sir David production is A night at the Natural History Museum in London; it is brilliant. 😊
Sadly, Sir David's documentaries and series are frequently accused of faking scenes, which the BBC confirm. National treasure. I will shed a tear when he goes. Been around my whole life.
Standing ovation at Wimbledon on Monday. Walking without a stick.
DA was given a very generous 89th birthday audience by President Obama. Nine years on, it is wonderful that DA is still with us both physically and more importantly, mentally. Amazing that he has +17 years on President Biden. Age is definitely not just a number. Thank you for the appreciation.

He had a brother. Richard Attenbourug. Known as the actor, who created Jurrasic Park.
As Queen Elizabeth was our nation's grandma, David Attenborough is our collective grandad. Prepare for an outpouring of grief when he pops his clogs.
Were you aware that David Attenborough’s brother was Richard Attenborough, a very well known film star. Have you ever seen “The Great Escape”? Although David has always been my favourite, he is one of those people who, liking him comes natural to everyone.

When he went to Buckingham palace as a close friend to the royals he once pointed out that the sundial in her garden was in the shade from a tree 😂

Great reaction Joel. David Attenborough himself is a wonder of the world. You have indeed got a lot of catching up to do !! 😊😊😊
A true professional, committed naturalist and beautiful human being.
Loved this.❤
There’s a lovely clip where George, Charlotte and Louis are asking him questions.
Attenborough has been studying animals in their natural habitat since he was your age.
"Life on Earth" was the first series that captivated me as a child.
Sir david attenborough really is a british national treasure. Hes part of our culture. His brother played Hammond in Jurassic Park 1+2
David Attenborough was also senior manager at the BBC, having served as controller of BBC Two and director of programming for BBC Television in the 1960s and 1970s. To be honest, my own view is that was the BBC's best period and has since remarkably declined.
He commissioned Kenneth Clark's 'Civilisation', just for one example.
As Controller of BBC2 he introduced colour TV to Britain!

With that thought exercised.
Recommended if you can see it: an early 'Zoo Quest' episode in Indonesia to catch a Komodo dragon.
Oh you must watch Blue Planet by DA .. it’s brilliant… the best of his work in my opinion
Hello Joel. Check David's role managing a BCC TV channel, back when some of the classic shows got started.
You should search out the mating of slugs in David Attenborough’s ‘Life In The Undergrowth’ it’s a sensuous ballet to behold!
check out Attenborough with the Lyrebird.....you will be as we say gobsmacked
98 and still going.
Just thought I'd let you know Sir David has a brother Sir Richard, he was an actor.
It will be a sad day when he passes. Truly the best naturalist since Darwin. I've watched almost all of his series since I was born over 60 years ago (in Leicester, his home town) and have loved every one.
He is a great friend of the Royal Family because as you know from Prince Phillip onwards they love the wildlife and have always protected it.
He was at Wimbledon tennis this week
Joel as a 10 y/ò in 1955 i saw the episode of him being confronted with a Komodo Dragon 🇬🇧
looking good, JPS.
8:28 Greg James the legend
David Attenborough has this majestic voice.
Edit: HE IS 98 YEARS OLD?! WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?
Gorilla pee mixed with a few gallons of gin
You really need to check out the manikin bird, whose mating dance resembles Michael Jackson's moonwalk. Its hilarious
You should watch the Blue Planet.
Hi Joel , I enjoyed watching this interesting video (pierre)
Everyone is a big softy when it comes to David Attenborough, even Derek Vinyard
David should be king
You crazy they would be no paper and energy prices would go through the roof
David Attenborough is a legend. As for your hair, well it's obviously warm where you are so go for it.
Where is he located that would justify that haircut?
Attenborough is the reason tennis balls are yellow. Absolutely true. Look it up
He is a national treasure
The new haircut…yikes! Are you moving to Alabama?
🤣🤣
Also JP wearing that vest, he looks like he’s living on a Council Estate somewhere in the U.K.🤣🤣
@@timglennon6814 Brings back memories of Onslow in 'Keeping up Appearances'.🙂
OH NICE!
"Life in the Freezer" was my favourite. I watched it in the late 1990s, and woke up my four children when I laughed loudly at the massive colony of penguins! I think this is the scene:

I’m sorry, I know it’s wrong, but this guy is hot.
It’s not wrong to point out the obvious. He’s a stud
To sound English Joel, you pronounce it as "At en bra".
OOF, crew cut and vest is a naff look.
Yeh Richard died almost a decade ago now 😢❤
