    No, NAD is NOT the future of hifi. I don't want to pay an extra $1000 for features I don't want, compared to an Emotiva or Schiit amp.

      Schiit Tyr is the best case for traditional separates on the "affordable" hifi market.

    I have an NAD C-700 I Agree with your assesment. I have moved the tone controls to adjust a little less trebel and a little more bass. It helps some. I do like the unit. I'm very sorry to hear about MQA When i think about the money I've spent.😢

    For the 3 people that still pays for MQA 😂

    I have the M10 v1. I’ve enjoyed it now for over a year. Now I pair it with the NAD C298. Happy camper kinda stuff. That said, I’ve used the touch screen twice, and am happy there is no remote to clutter with the others. I’m very handy in BluOS now and can manage all settings from there. I enjoyed your review!

    Good morning ☕️☕️
    A tad rich for my blood ..so I went with a Wiim Pro Streamer and added that to my gear …but I must admit this NAD looks amazing..and has the slightly dry sound that is their signature.
    Take care ☕️🍕

    Excellent review as always. Overall, at this price point it is a well rounded all-in-one unit. Wish NAD came with a V2 to address the clinical sound. Did you feel the M10 V2 sounded better (not counting the superb frequency correction abilities of Dirac)? How is that dedicated room coming along? Thanks!

    • @davids2214
      @davids2214 Рік тому

      I had the latest Powernode (which I believe is identical internally to t C700) and upgraded to the M10. Dirac was definitely the biggest difference. Besides that, the M10 sounded very slightly better, but not a big difference. Not sure if it was the superior DAC, amp chip, or extra power.

      @@davids2214 - thank you so much David. I will go for the M10. I was waiting for a (second) opinion as I have no NAD dealers nearby. It will have to be through Crutchfield.

    A screen with voice control will surely be the way that design is going, with an option for very large text you can read from across the room, as you shout it ou, and a t flip up screen could help in the interim as the height most people set their amp makes it an awkward position to read

    With the M10 you can just program any spare IR remote. Set up all the button functions as desired. probably this unit allows the same... Also i wonder if this unit uses hypex ncore or older ucd class D might explain dry top end.

    Blu os is the killer app but much like the powernode they lack a digital out so your stuck with the onboard dac...if it had digital outs it'd be a no brainer.

    Class D needs to be fixed with a tube or Class A solid state input stage…or it sounds as Ronald has described. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    What about phase distortion? Best site for detailed reviews on this model? High-end" audio equipment is often over-priced and over-rated. I do appreciate your critical review. We need more reviews like this on prosumer and consumer products. I am an audiophile on a budget, but too lazy to roll my own, in my old age. ;`{

    The M10 v2 does indeed include a remote now. I must say, however, that my "old" Yamaha R-n803 does sound sweeter, if not perfect. I can't help but wonder which part of the NAD causes the hyper-detail - the pre or amp. I'd like to try a nice juicy A/B amp with it to find out, but it's getting a bit crowded here...

      I’m currently running an Onkyo RZ740 in sort of a hybrid setup - two channels of Hypex UcD driving a pair of small passive subs, 3channels of ICEPower AC200 for the main front row, and the receiver for 4 surrounds. Based on my experience setting this up, several other classD amps over the past half dozen or so years, and a small (65@8ohm) class AB amp in upstairs music system, my money’s on the difference being the amp stage. I think that unless a major portion of one’s multichannel system use is music only, the hyper detailed / analytical/ lean (pick your favourite audiophile jargon) presentation of the better of modern classD is swamped by the visuals of big screen movies, sports, or BBC /National Geographic nature films.

    • @billd9667
      @billd9667 Рік тому

      @@fonkenful I hear you. I often say this about 3D PC games - once you are wrapped up in a personal drama and "fighting for your life", you could give a damn about resolution, ray tracing and color accuracy. All that really matters then is latency (performance). The same applies to watching a good show on TV. If you are being critical of the image and audio, as long as both are of decent quality, the show must not be very interesting.
      I've never given much thought to the fact that the vast majority of HT systems are Class D. They are more than adequate to the task at hand as long as the amps can handle your speakers impedance and are of sufficient power. My apartment neighbors would come out with torches and pitchforks if I exceeded about 85dB, which even my "ancient" Yamaha low end 5.1 receiver (RXV-465) can provide distortion-free. I also am fortunate to be able to afford upper "mid-fi" dedicated stereo equipment for music alone, though as I've shared, it's getting crowded here lol.
      I will take heed to your observation and, once I've cleared out some unused stereo equipment, try an A/B amp with the NAD. I'm thinking Schiit Vidar, or better yet, Aegir to get an answer to this question as both are "affordable" and compact enough to match with the small M10.

    I didn't realize this until he got fired, and I saw some of his clips, but you sound a lot like Tucker Carlson, or he sounds like you. Anything to this?

  • @goodsound4756
    @goodsound4756 Рік тому

    Probably decent if used as a preamp connected to an external class AB instead of the internal class D with the usual downsides.

    • @Audiorevue

      Yeah but why spend all that money on it only to combine it with an amplifier?
      You're much better off just getting something like the vidar 2 and the freya
      From schiit.

      Still very much in fashion for some, but bankrupt and soon to be gone unless they find a buyer. I for one am looking forward to seeing the feature dropped along with several hundred bucks off the price tag of new gear (I've heard it was quite the markup) though the latter might be hoping against all odds.

    Admit it you are a tube guy now. The Bluesound Powernode is half the price and does have a sub out but not full MQA without the screen you do not need. Sound will be
    the same 80 wpc.

    • @maar73n79
      @maar73n79 Рік тому

      It is night and day. I had a listen at my local audio shop and the Powernode sounded nice but nowhere near in clarity that the N700 offered. Also people tend to forget that the speakers you connect to it make a big difference. I had the listening test with DALI Oberon 5, and it was such a difference, so I went ahead and bought them. Is it worth the price hike over the Powernode? Jury's still out on that, but so far, don't regret buying
