- Police Chase Black Corvette that baits them into chases at night. The Chevy Corvette comes with a 6.2L V8 that has a great power to weight ratio. With the right driver in a Corvette at night, it will all but disappear in a police chase. Most police pursuits are V6 making around 300hp - some are 5.7L V8 Hemi making 375hp range Give/Take making it impossible to keep up.

I think it's a bolt-on/tuned Z06 - so maybe around 650-700whp range.
That vette driver got some balls doing the chase on a wet road .

@@doughboygee6865 It's just excess fuel not being burned during the combustion stage of the cylinder strokes. He's running the fuel injection fat. There's pros and cons of running too lean or too fat, but it's all relative to the tune and targets. Probably just runs it a little more fat at higher rpm to make sure it never goes too lean and causes damage. It's safer at higher rpms to run a bit fat than to run lean and risk going too lean, that's where you can damage things. Nothing much is hurt by running too fat other than not getting the absolute optimal horsepower and using more fuel.

@@doughboygee6865 It can definitely catch a bumper on fire or melt paint if it's too excessive. Usually that happens to the 2-step kids who want a flamethrowing rev machine while parked, so the engine has less cooling and the fire isn't being drawn away from the bumper by air movement.

I'll say one thing this guys has a good combo of skill and common sense... He modulates throttle in the wet and doesn't give into the adrenaline rush of flooring it. He only seems to go fast enough to keep a head without constantly pushing the car to it's limits. That's why he's successful. He has a far superior machine and he doesn't go overboard because he doesn't have to. I will say that he does seem lucky he doesn't run into a second cop car or some concerted effort to catch him.

In my WBSP in (moderate) rain I go up to 110 on straightaways and moderate corner at 50-65 on 2-lane roads, no major issues. Not tooting my driving horn here, but I’ve had no serious issues with stock Pirelli P-Zero’s, which are now at 4/32 now after 10K miles. Aside from burnouts I don’t understand how guys are burning up tires faster than this! That being said, you do need serious tires to do what that C7Z is doing, for sure.
@@SilverBulletOBW I have 255 front and 275 back but I don’t play with rain or when the ground wet 😂 I’m a CDL class A driver so I see everything in my truck all types of cars think they good drivers until they are not,even if you drive good its unpredictable shit that pops up ( debris,and bad/slow drivers or just assholes that see you speed and jump in front of you on purpose)

Professional? That is the most ridiculous thing you could say. He is driving mostly in a straight line. The only skill I see is his ability to avoid other cars. And so what about the wet roads. The car has traction control and some of the most high tech suspension there is. No he is no professional. Put him in an Indy or rally car and you will see how professional he is .

I'm not being funny. I'm asking a legitimate question. Stability systems can only do so much. That's a RWD vehicle. If the back end kicks out because the tires are slipping, the stability systems of your more modern vehicles may correct the position of the car, but not before hitting the brakes for you - all of which are being done without your control.
In the video, we saw none of this. One may argue that we saw none of this because he disabled the stability systems (traction control, brake assist, etc), but that would just prove that it was the driver's skill that shone through and he outdrove the police officer.
In the end, I don't agree with you, but you're entitled to your opinion.

@gordocarbo Agreed! Depending on the vehicle, there are a few fail safes. However, it would've been indicative in the video that they had been activated because the fail safes were designed to preserve the life of the driver, not to save the appearance of the car. What does that mean?
That means that the vehicle would've come to a complete stop so that the driver can safely walk away from the situation, which, as you can see, did not happen in this video.
That brings me back to my original point. The driver's skill had a lot to do with it.
Even with those systems it still takes a lot of skill and composure to drive like that. Btw why are you hating on this guy in every comment? You one of the cops he gapped lol?

The blue flames are from running alcohol, even e-85 flames blue. It's a little rich.
It's actually the newer LT series engine being its a c7 corvette. But in general I think chevy LS/LT small block V8s are the best sounding V8s especially with exhausts, mods and cams. Little bit of exoctic sounding mixed with good old American muscle.

Of course higher speeds increases the risk, but EVERY DRIVER ON THE ROAD risks killing an innocent person. You get in a 3000+ pound hunk of metal and get it moving...you're creating risk.
This is more than just a Vette it's a Real Driver that has obviously done some Sports Car Racing like in the SCCA. Fast, But, Safe Slowing and Checking Corners.
I hate to tell you this but people who grew up driving go carts 4-wheelers and their dad's letting them drive the farm truck around the farm you would be surprised how sliding around in go carts prepares you to be a decent driver
