  • As the seasons change, so do my wardrobe needs. Summer calls for light, breezy clothing, while winter demands cozy, layered outfits. Instead of letting my closet overflow with a mix of seasonal clothes, I’ve decided to take an organized approach to managing my wardrobe. This process not only helps me declutter my space but also allows me to rediscover pieces I love, promoting sustainability and mindful shopping.
Step 1: Pick out my warm-weather clothes from the basement
I start by sorting my clothes in the basement. This might seem overwhelming, but it’s the best way to see exactly what I have.
Step 2: I'll make room in our master closet by taking out all my coats, sweaters and other cold-weather clothes.
Step 3: The swap! Cold-weather clothes go to the basement and warm-weather clothes go to my master closet.
Step 4: Final sorting and make sure I am only left with clothes I will actually wear for the season :)
    Benefits of closet cleanout:
    Embrace Slow Shopping
One of the biggest benefits of this process is that it helps me become more mindful of my wardrobe. By appreciating what I already have, I’ll feel less inclined to shop for unnecessary items. This practice, known as slow shopping, promotes sustainability by reducing waste and encouraging thoughtful purchasing decisions.
    Maintain My Organized Closet
To keep my closet in order, I make it a habit to regularly review and reorganize my clothes. At the end of each season, I repeat this process to switch out my wardrobe. By maintaining this routine, I’ll always have a clean and organized closet that reflects my current needs.
    Final Thoughts
Cleaning up my closet and organizing my seasonal clothes is a powerful exercise in mindfulness and sustainability. It allows me to reconnect with the pieces I love, avoid unnecessary purchases, and contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle. Embracing this process means I’ll not only enjoy a clutter-free closet but also a more intentional and satisfying approach to fashion. Happy organizing!

I’m kind of the same, I have attachment to my clothes. I’m trying my best to let go 😅 and yes don’t we all fall for “i’ll wear this later” I have a few clothes that still have tags. I keep saying i’ll wear them later but never get a chance. I hope you have a wonderful weekend ☺️❤️

they were in the basement 😅 it was already very cold when we moved to Edmonton Canada, so most of my summer clothes were stored there.

Oh girl hahaha! I was like what that’s her closet?? Looks like a garage lol but I get it I have a tiny “walk in” closet 😬 so most of the time instead of stressing about folding them or putting them away. I donate. I just started selling on Poshmark too. I also added some shelves from Lowe’s in my closet for my bags cuz I like looking at them in my closet.

@@JoJo_XoXo yep same, our closet is too narrow. Well the basement is practically a garage for everything we don’t need LOL ☺️ I used to sell on eBay, but stopped since are moved here inCanada.
I got a shelf from Ikea for my purses ☺️ they are at my office, motivates me to work harder 🙈🤣 ahaha

@@iamartsymomsy same! I got the ikea book case for my purses but it’s not enough and I can only put one book case in my tiny closet and then also added custom cut shelving to the built in ones. Luckily my husband didn’t mind measuring and Lowe’s cut them for free 😍
