nioh 2 (and nioh) has the title of being the best game i have ever played. I hadnt even played souls but i fell in love with nioh 2. Then i played ds3 ds2 and sekiro. And yes theyre all masterpieces, but i dont think i could ever say that i liked any of them more than nioh 2. sekiro is very close, but I desperately miss builds. DS3 is different but lacks the visual style and complexity that I love so much. DS2 is a slog, but being so unapolagetically slow makes it kinda its own thing in a way and I cherish it for that. But in ds2 I have been stuck on a boss for so long that I dont have a full picture of it. TLDR: Nioh 2 is great, if you havent played it you need to, if you havent played it in a while boot it up because i guarantee you still have plenty of content to play and plenty of time to spend before eldenring. (i think elden ring might tie for my favorite based on what ive seen)
Meh elden ring looks like a dark souls 3 clone very little difference from the games imo I'm excited but the fact it doesnt look like the new demon souls remake is saddening
Good to hear someone else say it. It took months of deciding, but in the end, Nioh 2 is my all time favorite game.... and I've been playing games since Pac-man on Atari
Playing through Nioh 2 again after not playing it since I finished the DLCs on their release, it's great, but Nioh 1 is my favourite by quite a fair bit.
@@dan_12 Nioh 1 was quite the challenge for me but I’m loving Nioh 2. The polish was immediately noticeable but the journey so far has either been easier, or my recent Nioh experience is helping. I’m loving the Switchglaive.
Seeing as this is available on ps plus I will pick it up. I'm a Soulsbourne vet but I've never played the Nioh series, so I'm looking forward to jumping in.
After playing a bunch of souls games, I was looking for another soulslike. But for some reasons, I avoided Nioh for a long time. Maybe it was the cartoon-like design, it made me think the combat is more like Devil May Cry where you have to do a lot of combos. Finally got to try it when it became available for PS+ subscribers, and am loving it. It scratches that souls itch and more. Still need to get used to the Ki mechanic and I'm sure when I get that locked down, I'll love it even more.
I have plowed through so many souls games this year. I had never played them before. Elden ring, bloodborne, ds3 and this are all so superb. My favorite is whichever I’m playing at that moment. I believe nioh 2 has the most satisfying combat
I remember when I first started Nioh 1. Game was brutal as fuck coming off dark souls. I actually quit it for a while to play dark souls and bloodborne, so I could level up as a player then rechallenge Nioh. I actually did manage to beat Nioh and was in love with it then 2 happened... Maybe this is the best game of all time. Problem with Nioh is it makes souls /elden ring playthrough extremely easy, cause you had to master all these combos and movement options you just don't have in a souls game or need cause of the extremely forgiving s on dodge rolls.enemies also moved at you much slower and in much more predictable manners in elden ring and so on, it felt like you were playing FFXV in comparison to Nioh.
850 h in . just started a new run. edit: the beginning is probably to hard. i still struggle with the 2 and 3 boss. you just don't have the damage . probably why its not more popular. even after all my h Enenra is hard. and just thinking about that boar fellow...
Played 2 first, and then I played 1. I like 1 more, it’s a fun play through, and every npc isn’t a mini boss. I’m 190/60 and it’s like work playing the game, but in 1 it’s relaxing to just play the story.
Quite the game then came back to beat it. Most underrated souls like IMO. Combat, skills, leveling system, gear crafting system, and bosses are all awesome. Only thing I hate are the level designs
Team Ninja’s Nioh, especially Nioh 2, curb stomps and Inzuna drops FromSoft’s Elden Ring and Sekiro. Nioh 2 may have its fair share of flaws but personally the pros significantly outweigh the cons, Nioh definitely possesses one of the most addicting combat systems I’ve ever touched. Team Ninja deserves a lot more recognition for Nioh. Unfortunately Nioh 3 isn’t going to be revealed anytime soon so I hope their upcoming spiritual successor to Nioh, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, is successful and gives Team Ninja the attention grabbing spotlight.
@@Raldoraan I haven’t touched the overrated masterpiece known as Elden Ring in over a year…so if you want that kind of wasteful experience, that’s definitely the one for ya lol. Sekiro is another contender and is probably a prime example of a game that isn’t worth playing more than once.

Can anyone who played Sekiro comment on whether or not this has a similar level of satisfaction when it comes to parry/counter mechanics? Sekiro is my favorite game of all time, my only wish was that it had more RPG elements and well... Nioh looks like exactly what I'm looking for
Nioh isn't built around a parry/counter system the way Sekiro is, so you're not expected to parry everything. However, there are several ways to parry in Nioh, and I would say it takes a bit more practice, but once you get it down the parrying is very satisfying, especially the Burst Counters and the bare-handed parries against human enemies.
I played nioh 2 almost 70 hours Just for one playthrough without dlcs. It has the best Combat system of any Games i played. Better than from Software... BUT I dislike that the loot has Zero Impact on my build. What am i doing wrong? Is the difficulty too Low?
Sorry for being late: The Real Game starts with the 2nd play-through where levelling up the gear gets hard a.f. Selling alone etc. won’t cut it anymore. :D
yeah, I can see that, I think they do a decent job of restructuring them a bit each time but it would have been nice for them to be all unique. Thanks for watching!
I Love a game like this, but I wish some of the fighting Mechanics worked Automatically, it gets old Memorizing 400 different Combos to use in Combat!!
Once you know what the game wants from you, and how to succeed... It's actually much easier than a lot of other Souls games I've played since. Now that could be because Nioh 1 was my entry into the Soulslike genre... But grinding this game's bones comes down to using the immense set of tools, with an (over)importance of gear, properly using and switching between stances, properly Ki-pulsing, and mastering the Yokai shift counter. That's all easier said than done... But it's very doable from almost anyone. But once you get that down, and you start delving into Omnyo magic and Ninjutsu tools, you can make short work of Nioh 2. There is just a lot of freedom regarding how you approach and play the game, and it's not nearly as rigid and mechanical in its approach and demands as From Soft games and most other Soulslikes. I say all of that to say... It's not that hard if you don't play it like other Soulslikes and take FULL advantage of, and engage with all of the systems the game has in place. But it does suck that a big portion of "maximizing your potential" is done via the endless gear grind and spending lots of time in about 2 dozen different menus. At a certain point you're not even getting mechanically better... You've just mastered the loot-loop and the time intensive, menu-based upgrade system...
I highly recommend the completed edition for nioh 2 and 1 😌and nioh 2 is a great game I’ve played it multiple times currently on the hardest ng+ difficultie
After 2000 plus hours there are still days when I feel like starting a new game.. But the grind to get to level 750 again is too much.. Love this game. Top 5 of all time..

This looks so good to me but I know it's going to be souls-like. I think of Ninja Gaiden when I hear Team Ninja and I loved NG1 and 2, I loved them to death but I just don't know if I should try this game. I'm afraid I'll waste my money like I did with Elden Ring. I played it for 3,4 hours and realized I don't have time for this ...
I'm here because of the ps+ november 2022 games and my god I'm enjoying the F out of this game even if it's beating the shit out of me. Souls-like is my favorite genre, I guess incorporating a more arcade-y gameplay into the formula makes it even more enjoyable.
What frustrated me about this game the most(other than giant health bars of almost every one who isn't you) is how the game breaks it's rules even harder when going against human bosses, a human like myself shouldn't need 40 hits to kill when he's one shoting you ,I wish they handled that with a bit more care like mutating them or something to atleast make them seem believable
Nioh 2 came in at my #1 for the entire PS4 generation, Bloodborne being a close 2nd. I’m a die hard Souls player since Demon’s and this game has me hooked, Elden Ring being the only game able to pry me away from it. Just a week ago I decided to check my playtime and was 20 minutes away from logging exactly 600 hours and I’m still only half way through DotW. Yes I know, I haven’t even reached the underworld yet. I didn’t say I was a professional Souls player, just a diehard.
if u want to get annihilated, try to play nioh 2 counting on darksouls or sekiro difficulty level. youll make execuses about your quit, on your way out within less than 2 to 3 hours of playing the game. you just dont die here ull get punished in this game like a mental attack. (trust me ng++++ depths of the underworld is fully mental).
It's the best Diablo game ever made, IMHO. It's exactly how I wanted the next evolution of Diablo to be. Shame that the actual Diablo IV looks so uninspired and just to be there because they figured out that they can make a service-based Diablo game (which is what Diablo IV will be).
Just finished Elden ring and picked this up and it’s fantastic don’t be put off by people saying it’s too hard plenty of chance to build your character up to make the game very easy
I actually just started playing again because I don't think there is a game as good as this. Played ER but it just can't compare to the combat and variety of nioh. I have more hours in nioh than any other game
Personally I found the more Diablo-flavoured number crunch/optimization aspect of the first Nioh really detrimental to the overall experience - does this game lean more into that, or is that toned down a bit so that the gameplay is more skill focused? In the first game, everything in the late-/postgame boiled down to proccing that one status effect that let you deal ludicrous amounts of damage for a short burst of time and it was ultimately just about getting those coloured numbers higher and higher.

@@huehoualee4730 well that explains how you to dotw so quickly...I mainly play during the weekends cuz i got work that's why i am still progressing at a slow rate....dotd is killing me currently lol...is the immovable mission on dotd any good or should i keep doing refined man of the underworld?
@@richikchatterjee2252 underworld or immovable works, and also depends on your build as well. Nioh is a good game, but very grindy
122 hours of play only for first run. Lost in it. Amazing
You haven't even mentioned the deeper mechanics beside the gigantic talent trees...or the real endgame in NG+++++ Way of the Nioh^^Yes it's an absolute masterpiece!
Dam lol!
nioh 2 (and nioh) has the title of being the best game i have ever played.
Try bloodborne as well it’s great but mostly horror with werewolves and beasts
I think they are all masterpiece and different. But nioh combact system.... wow
Meh elden ring looks like a dark souls 3 clone very little difference from the games imo I'm excited but the fact it doesnt look like the new demon souls remake is saddening
@@jackrodriguez3404 bloodborne got me into the souls Universum . Such a great game , now I’m on sekiro :)
Amazing content!
Thank you!
Very in-depth review. Thanks! I’m almost finished with Nioh, and I’m looking forward to sucking in Nioh 2.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it, I liked Nioh 1 too but I definitely think they improved the overall game in Nioh 2
@@dan_12 Nioh 1 was quite the challenge for me but I’m loving Nioh 2. The polish was immediately noticeable but the journey so far has either been easier, or my recent Nioh experience is helping. I’m loving the Switchglaive.
I'm using the odachi
Best review I’ve ever seen🙌🏼
Seeing as this is available on ps plus I will pick it up. I'm a Soulsbourne vet but I've never played the Nioh series, so I'm looking forward to jumping in.
I 100% both nioh games and I gotta say I’m ready for a nioh 3 if it happens
Oh, I’d be right on Nioh 3 and I’m kinda curious about the Final Fantasy game they’re working on. Might be my way into that franchise.
Well maybe not Nioh 3 as you presented but they announced Wo Long Fallen Dynasty idk I think its will like Sekiro + Nioh
Great vid. Consider lowering music volume when speaking.
You will.
I have plowed through so many souls games this year. I had never played them before. Elden ring, bloodborne, ds3 and this are all so superb. My favorite is whichever I’m playing at that moment. I believe nioh 2 has the most satisfying combat
One of the best game I ve ever played.. Masterpiece..
probably my favorite game. the combat mechanics are just too good.
So like, I know I've already commented on this video but I just want to say one more time; thank you; this is *exactly* how I feel.
850 h in . just started a new run. edit: the beginning is probably to hard. i still struggle with the 2 and 3 boss. you just don't have the damage . probably why its not more popular. even after all my h Enenra is hard. and just thinking about that boar fellow...
lesgoo, new video
Excellent review. Underrsted channel
Played 2 first, and then I played 1. I like 1 more, it’s a fun play through, and every npc isn’t a mini boss. I’m 190/60 and it’s like work playing the game, but in 1 it’s relaxing to just play the story.
Is the weapon upgrade and infusion as crappy as nioh1? Spent hours into savescum in order to save stones
Great review!
Thanks! Good to see you're still around.
Quite the game then came back to beat it. Most underrated souls like IMO. Combat, skills, leveling system, gear crafting system, and bosses are all awesome. Only thing I hate are the level designs
0:04 this is the only way to describe nioh in general lol
Sekiro and Elden Ring are great games
Your comment has convinced me that Nioh 2 is a waste of time
@@Raldoraan I haven’t touched the overrated masterpiece known as Elden Ring in over a year…so if you want that kind of wasteful experience, that’s definitely the one for ya lol. Sekiro is another contender and is probably a prime example of a game that isn’t worth playing more than once.
@@christopheryanez I decided you could be right, so I actually committed myself and beat the game. The combat is more varied than other games. I almost had fun, but it still wasn't worth it.
@@christopheryanezcalling something popular "overrated" isn't gonna make you look cool. It just makes you look like an edgelord. Just a bit of advice before you grow up ;)
Is this a boss fight simulator or like souls having regular enemies?
1st souls game I had is the nioh game then nioh2 so far I’m cheesing all souls game because of Nioh
A masterpiece of a game.
Too complicated for the masses to enjoy it.
Let them play Elden.
"i dislike the popular thing so I'm different from others and cool"
Is it worth playing if i completed the game in 2020? Completed dream of the nioh ofcourse, got into the depths and stopped after some floors, didnt like that you can skip the entire dlc before going into the depths, that was a huge mistake of TN imo
I love Nioh 2. Pity it's not as popular as the games it's used for inspiration. But man, if it's one of the best games I've ever played.
It bothers me that people would rather play Dark Souls mods than an actually good Soulslike.
@@codafett dark souls 1 and 2 are absolutely horrible 3 is good but the first 2 are horrible can’t believe they get praise and this doesn’t
@@tr6sh95L take, 1 is a great game, not a masterpiece but great, 2 sucks and 3 is a masterpiece. Amazing stories, rewarding gameplay, genius level designs, beautiful artstyles and gorgeous soundtracks. Overall the ds trilogy is really good, and better than most of the soulles garbage that is released nowadays. Also skill issue.
@@alfredvonraven how is me not liking ds 1 and 2 a skill issue i just hate the horrible graphics and mediocre gameplay of 1 and the horrible gameplay of 2
@@tr6sh95 Well, the gameplay isn't mediocre, it's fun and rewarding. Also horrible graphics? Did we play the same game?
So Nioh 2 is like a souls game but with "Oops, all bosses!" vibes. You've convinced me.
*spec dexterity
*acquire ninjutsu
*gear supports poison accumulation and ninjutsu strength
profit
this game is masterpiece without a doubt and it also has awesome lore awesome fights and like awesome everything
I've had this game for almost 2 years and I still haven't beat it yet it so hard. I'm on a boss battle and it's not going good.
Been saying this for a time, dont play nioh with the minset of a soulslike, more like a high risk Devil may cry. The combos you can archive are insane, The deeper tech like stance pre shifting a literal new way to play.
Give you a tip right away, you can find soul cores with yokai ability ki pulse. They already function as animation cancel, with this, you even get ki back. Making your gameplay that much faster
Why don't more people play it?
Because it is just way too difficult for average player. The mechanics are punishing, even regular mobs are able to hand you your ass on a platter. Learning curve is steep and there are just way too many things to worry about when it is your first time picking up the game. Not everyone has the skill or the patience or much more often the time to struggle for 2-3 hours and end up going absolutely nowhere many a time. This category of game is designed for a very specific kind of player who is just much much more serious about the game mechanics and finds meaning in the masochistic level of suffering the souls genre very often inflicts on you.
Many players just hate the feeling of utter frustration (even though the feeling of reward is equally strong) that originates from these games all too often. They are many a time looking for a much more relaxing, casual, fun inducing, moderately rewarding activity that they can indulge in after a long day of work for a short while before they head back to other stresses of their life.
Souls games can just never be that and all avid fans know it.
It's like how some people really love heating insanely spicy food that just flat out feels like tasting death to most people.
Insanely spicy as in ghost pepper level spicy can never ever have mass appeal. That's just how niche it is.
Just look at completion stats on the vast elden ring player base and that is the most accessible and one of the easiest one of all souls like games.
Just saying, unless they took stances out this tuber isn't using any of the other two stances on the weapons.
High stance kusarigama go brrrr
@@yurtthesilentgod1225 bored
I agree nioh 2 is a masterpiece the combat is intricate and imo not matched by other soulslike games
I dunno man. At some point you might wanna try a stance other than mid...
Why is that?
@@Reiko_Takahashi keeps the combat more entertaining and it’s more fluid
5:13 dude, you're playing with death himself.
for real, love this game
I played nioh 2 almost 70 hours Just for one playthrough without dlcs. It has the best Combat system of any Games i played. Better than from Software... BUT
I dislike that the loot has Zero Impact on my build. What am i doing wrong? Is the difficulty too Low?
Sorry for being late: The Real Game starts with the 2nd play-through where levelling up the gear gets hard a.f. Selling alone etc. won’t cut it anymore. :D
I completed nioh 1 and am currently playing nioh2.
The only thing that bothers me a little is the repetition of maps.
yeah, I can see that, I think they do a decent job of restructuring them a bit each time but it would have been nice for them to be all unique. Thanks for watching!
Get the dlc
The season pass is like 10 dollars right now with all three dlc new weapons and spells I can recommend the dlc enough it totally changes the game
@@HDGaminTutorials Worth it for the fist weapons alone. You feel like Bruce Lee on magical crack.
I Love a game like this, but I wish some of the fighting Mechanics worked Automatically, it gets old Memorizing 400 different Combos to use in Combat!!
Ninja Gaiden Souls
So it’s basically if bloodborne was set place in Japan
The switchglaive was op
Speed(cyclone move ) , range , damage and it scale with magic (the most broken thing in Nioh2)
what a good review!
I highly recommend the completed edition for nioh 2 and 1 😌and nioh 2 is a great game I’ve played it multiple times currently on the hardest ng+ difficultie
How are you guys just now realizing this lol
After 2000 plus hours there are still days when I feel like starting a new game.. But the grind to get to level 750 again is too much.. Love this game. Top 5 of all time..

I don't know...I kind of like Dark Souls and now I tried Elden Ring and it's ok I guess but I don't know if I can really say I'm a fan.
I've only loved this game, not had a hate moment yet!
I love this game
What frustrated me about this game the most(other than giant health bars of almost every one who isn't you) is how the game breaks it's rules even harder when going against human bosses, a human like myself shouldn't need 40 hits to kill when he's one shoting you ,I wish they handled that with a bit more care like mutating them or something to atleast make them seem believable
Such a good game. Got 400 hours into it and I still enjoy every second of it.
Nioh is a grind samurai
Nioh 2 came in at my #1 for the entire PS4 generation, Bloodborne being a close 2nd. I’m a die hard Souls player since Demon’s and this game has me hooked, Elden Ring being the only game able to pry me away from it. Just a week ago I decided to check my playtime and was 20 minutes away from logging exactly 600 hours and I’m still only half way through DotW. Yes I know, I haven’t even reached the underworld yet. I didn’t say I was a professional Souls player, just a diehard.
We need more medieval-based combat games. Let all the martial arts dorks move to Asia.
Nioh 2 combat feels like an evolve kingdom hearts 2. It beats dmc5 to me hands down!!!!
if u want to get annihilated, try to play nioh 2 counting on darksouls or sekiro difficulty level.
youll make execuses about your quit, on your way out within less than 2 to 3 hours of playing the game.
you just dont die here ull get punished in this game like a mental attack. (trust me ng++++ depths of the underworld is fully mental).
I hope Wo Long Fallen Dynasty will not so hard
It's the best Diablo game ever made, IMHO. It's exactly how I wanted the next evolution of Diablo to be.
Shame that the actual Diablo IV looks so uninspired and just to be there because they figured out that they can make a service-based Diablo game (which is what Diablo IV will be).
I stared Nioh 2 after finishing Nioh 1….I just want to give up. Find 2 really hard and died 8 times first boss only
Just finished Elden ring and picked this up and it’s fantastic don’t be put off by people saying it’s too hard plenty of chance to build your character up to make the game very easy
Goat game
ya que no habia reseñas en español xd
I actually just started playing again because I don't think there is a game as good as this. Played ER but it just can't compare to the combat and variety of nioh. I have more hours in nioh than any other game
Personally I found the more Diablo-flavoured number crunch/optimization aspect of the first Nioh really detrimental to the overall experience - does this game lean more into that, or is that toned down a bit so that the gameplay is more skill focused? In the first game, everything in the late-/postgame boiled down to proccing that one status effect that let you deal ludicrous amounts of damage for a short burst of time and it was ultimately just about getting those coloured numbers higher and higher.
better get it on discount while i can.
Don't mind me, I haven't even watched the video yet. I'm just here to slurp up all the Nioh 2 love.
