Amazing teaching talent. As a retired 32 year college chemistry teacher, I see more natural teaching talent on youtube than I observed during my 32 year career. No ego, just natural flluency of speech, very organized, well planned delivery etc. Having watched teachers over the years, I am not sure most teachers could learn what this fellow has as a natural teaching talent. But they could watch him and try. Very impressive. Thanks for the lesson.

I was a shoemaker in Cuba, and when I move to US I learn how to do upholstery for car, furniture, boats and much more. I love it take time and effort to learn this profession but is a great job take care keep your videos coming cheers.

Also, I did not make my own cover but instead ordered a fitting new cover only for less than $50. Thank you for your detailed instructions, very helpful, professional, and it looks and sits perfect.

(I say semi btw because I have worked with fabric that thick before in a diy capacity and I know how hard it can be with a non-professional machine. And man, once you make a mistake with leather or leather-like fabric, you feel like the world's biggest fool! Because there is no hiding it, most times.) I would like to see you do something in an automobile seat re-covering sometime.

I See this thread is 5 years old now this guy Is a professional no doubt, but for someone who just wants to fix their atv seat most of them can be repaired without sewing with no wrinkles just takes extra stretching, I've completed over 20 seats some are to curvy and need sewing done, best material that I have found is marine grade vinyl it holds up great.

how come the factory cover has one seam around the edge. These videos are so amazing to watch, and the final product looks so beautiful. Wish I had that skill!

if the divots in the foam are any deeper than 1/8", you need to patch them first. Any deeper than that and they will show through even the 1/2" layer of foam.

But what sewing machine do you use? I’m a bag maker & have an industrial Juki machine but I’m always looking at what other people use & what other types of walking foot machines are out there ☺️. It’s just curiosity 😉.
What would be the minimal sewing machine for doing this kind of work? I'm not sure if they're rated in classes or motor horsepower but I've always been interested in upholstery and making leather goods.
You'll want a machine with a compound walking-foot. Also, make sure it has reverse- there are a few machines out there that wont reverse stitch. As far as horse power, just look for an "industrial" sewing machine but make sure it's 110 V, single phase, and not a 3-phase motor. A lot of sewing factories used 3 phase power but very few people have 3-phase at their home. Good brands to look for are Pfaff, Adler, Juki, and Consew.
Local upholstery shops should be able to get it for you, but they'll likely charge you retail for it. I'd try Ebay and see if you can pick up some there. You'll only need a yard.
Yes, the industrial sewing machine is a big expense but it's also a long term investment. A good one will outlast your grandchildren if properly lubricated and once you have one, you'll find all sorts of uses for it.

You are very good but out of curiosity what do you charge to make a seat cover for a Polaris sportsman 400 and the year is 2004.
That seat cover will out last the bike. And it's a Honda so that will be till the end of time lol. Great Job, very impressive.

They heat-mold the factory covers to stretch the fabric into shape without seams. The problem is this creates thin spots on an already thin cover.

I just need to replace the heavily weathered vinyl cover on my bike, the foam is good. Where do you find the right material(arctic vinyl)?

If you have to heat it to get it to fit, you did it wrong in my opinion. In 25 years, Ive never had to heat a cover to get it to fit.

It's just light poly-foam. Probably around a 25 or 30 density.
