You can blame FX for that. I've _still_ had people become hesitant whenever I recommend a Ryzen-equipped machine because they've either had bad experiences with FX or have heard of said experiences from other people.
Like what was mentioned earlier, the market won't shift overnight. More people will eventually realize that AMD products are so much better now, but it will take a good amount of time for that to happen.

Regardless of which team you're on, this is a good thing for consumers, assuming RDNA gets adopted.
Competition leads to innovation and lower prices.
Welcome back, AMD.
RDNA is automatically adopted as it's gonna be part next-gen consoles.
RDNA is also licensed to Samsung for mobile graphics too.
Right, totally forgot :) Now that you mention it I remember hearing it from somewhere can't remember where.

@Warm Soft Kitty The cores can actually be useful in productivity, so yes, they are needed. Saying that AMD is stagnating CPUs is the same as saying we don't need more than 4 cores. This view is very short sighted.
As for the GPUs, RDNA is actually more simplified than GCN. So, it's not overly complicated. Again, very short sighted perspective.
The fact that you are trying to say that AMD is stagnating CPUs, where Intel wouldn't innovate without a competitor just shows that you are in support of anti-competitive practices.

Old GTX1080ti is just slightly slower then the doble the price RTX2080ti... GTX1660ti performs just a little less then the 2060 at a much lower price, the whole RTX linup is just a scam as when you turn of any of the RTX featues fps drops down to unplayable.
@@a64738 I think you mean gtx 1080ti is slightly slower than the rtx 2080, not the rtx 2080ti...
@@a64738 That was also the case with the first generation ofrasterization cards. Mainly because the games at the moment didn't properly used the rasterization techniques. Rasterization is the process converting a vector into a pixel representation. The 2nd gen rasterization cards had the same performance as the bitmap based cards and from the 3rd generation performance went up quickly for 1080/1440p gaming.
Even the RTX2080TI cards has trouble with 4K rendering. 8K is on the horizon. So realtime raytracing an on-the-fly rescaling might nog be give the same performance as the older generation cards, but in 2 to 3 years thing are probably different. Also the fact that AMD is focussing on the budget marked will make it hard for them to find studios to implemenet RDNA. NVidia on the other hand has RTX from the midrange cards and up. NVidia also has according to the Steam market survey 75% of the market share. That is why game studios start to adopt RT/DLSS features..
As it currently stands, is NVidia the one doing new things. AMD is doing the same stuff in a different matter. I hope that AMD will add a heavier sku to their RNDA lineup. Because when a game comes out, people watch the reviews. It hard to sell GPU's if NVidia basically holds the top10.. It is the same with cards. Most people will buy a new car in the 15.000-20.000 dollar range. But that does not mean they are not looking at how the brand is doing in racing.. Being the best in something is a very good selling point. Even if you are more expensive..

@@RenniaTrayvold That's release drivers. Nvidia had problems with their drivers when the RTX cards came out so AMD isn't the only culprit here. And yes crimson drivers are astronomically better than green team's. Also their software has improved. It used to suck (I had to deal with that shit. I hated it.)
Hey Jay. Can you do a video about bios updates for new ryzen CPUs on b450 motherboards?
Soooooo, currently were I live only the reference rx5700 xt is available and if I want the custom cards would have to wait an extra month maybe more. Should I get the rx5700xt reference??
Any scores for content creating application? adobe premiere, blender?
Am I the only one that likes the "dent"? It's a nice aesthetic. Like curves on a car.
I think it's sexy tbh. And I dont hate the blower style cooler
yea, the flat one looks kinda.. flat
The dent looks really nice, I think it would look better if there was a dent on both sides
its something different but i would think it would look even better if they wouldnt have made it look like the dent is there accidently
I like it because it reminds me of the early 2000s pc gaming aesthetic, and i love that aesthetic
the aesthetic is nice but it's still a bad cooler that's gonna be replaced so it doesn't really matter much
Space Engineers would be a good bench-marking game.
Eh, it's more CPU intensive than GPU intensive and also it's a fairly unknown game which wouldn't benefit much people as in what performance they're looking for in games.
Vedran it sucks up everything. Whenever I’ve got it running it’s pulling ~10gb of RAM, most to all of my 7800x at 4.3, and all my 1060
Jay, I know you said you were comparing products based on price/performance. But could you do some benchmark comparisons between these new cards and the Vega 64/56 models? I have a Vega 64 (not currently installed or being used yet) and would like to know of these 5700 series cards perform better or worse than Vega. Thank you
hey Jay, i would like to see a diy custom air cooler mounted on a 5700XT . how big will be the difference in temperatures vs the stock cooler?
I'm excited for the innovation battle, not just the price point. I want to see both companies making great things so we can reap the benefits
Oh believe me I'm saving up for a 5700xt strix card when the aib launches the 4k performance on high settings is awesome from looking at the benchmarks. and you should add in final fantasy xiv shadowbringers benchmark they got a benchmark tool for download. :)
i'm biased towards the sapphire blue my self.
I don't believe you
@All my heroes are villains Is there anywhere to see how much your card is worth for trade in? I have a 1070 Ti Strix
You’re best just going in to Limsa Lominsa at peak times and seeing if any gpu doesn’t cry 👍
@All my heroes are villains Is this towards first gen Turing cards or will it be offered for the new Super cards as well?
My first card was voodoo3 3000 AGP. Do you remember those?
That was the exact card when I first owned a gpu.
Yeah mine too, used to love the 3dfx splash screen
wow we showing are age but i remember them cards lol...
I think AMD is on the right track and hope they continue, Not looking to get a new Card at this point got a EVGA 1080 tI FTW a long time ago and see no need to upgrade yet.
Hey Jay, I just wanted to let you know that I really like your Video style. TBH for raw benchmarking I still rather go to Hardware Unboxed and GN, But I really like your rambling about the video cards and what they mean for the market etc. Good Work, keep it up! :)
If you like rambling about video cards check rants from Not an apple fan

5700XT with different cooler i will definetly consider it. Saphire Nitro, Asus Strix, MSI designs... AMD please take note!!
my first AMD GPU was the ATI Rage 128 1998 made in Canada
No, that was an ATi Rage 128, just ATi bro. AMD bought Ati in 2006
Me too. The good ole days....
AMD needs something to compete in the high end, I'm going to be buying a ryzen CPU I would like an AMD GPU to go with it but I game at 4k and they have nothing for me
What's games are you playing that you need to play at 4k? If you say fps then it's makes no sense at all. You need higher frames per second for that. Even rts needs more frames than resolution.
Im just happy my hunch to purchase 30 shares of AMD stock back in 2018 is finally paying dividends
what did you make?
.
@Anna Crume Pretty much, I got in at around $16 and it's currently sitting at $33/ share
Nit
I bought 750 shares when they were $6.75 3 years ago. Sold 250 when they were $15 and kind of regret it now lol.
what I really want, is a new sub $200 card, like the old 1050 and 1050ti without having to buy used
Klaevin get a Cirrus Logic, they are awesome 😎
The years of sub 200$ good valued decent performing cards are dead. Its 2019 and prices will never go down from here. Millions of people will continue to buy cards at high prices so those years are long long gone man. Cheers / pour one for the old dead price to performance past monsters! Go buy a used vega 56 or used 1070ti for 200$.
It's there. RX 570 8 gb is around 170.00. New.
You can find 4gig 570s new for sub 150.... but yeah we need some more budget cards.
RX 580 ,RX 570
3:37 That just looks like someone mishandled the card and dented it. I can't unsee the dent.
Great video Jay. Fresh take on how to compare the cards against competition. Extra 100+ dollhairs can be absolute nono formany customers that look for upgrade. I would still wait for aib cards with proper cooling and ...like XFX RX480 GTR from few years backwards. Still running that beast of a card.
My main issue with the AMD 5700 cards is that I keep hearing about stability issues and crashes which makes me hesitant to buy one
Bakz I don’t have any problems with mine 5700xt
Those problems should go away with better drivers. But what you should really worry about are the blower fans of you don’t want your pc to sound like a leaf blower when you’re actually using it.
5700 is fine even with the blower but if you want xt and aren't going to mod it for better cooling wait for the aib cards which should be out in a week or so.
Wow, I'm not even near Jay's age but my first ATI card was the 9700 Pro
Mine was a Speedstar
The 9700 pro was amazing bang for the buck back then.
May be he was Nvidia follower at that time? My first Graphics card was Cirrus Logic with 1 Mb of video ram. My first AMD card was ATI's Mobility Radeon X1600 - which wasn't even AMD back then -)))) But hey I was able to overclock in nicely and it run Oblivion/Skyrim without any problems -)
Voodoo card 👌
my first card was the ati all in wonder 9700 pro, even had a tv tuner, it was bad ass. first fps i ever played was half-life on that card :)
Does anyone know if the 5700/5700xt was tested with PCIe 3 or PCIe 4 on a x570 board
I think Linus? tested them with a PCIe 4 board and the variance on fps was on the 2% tops
Thank you! Being new to computer building having just built my first computer and my first GPU was the Radeon 580, this video along with all of yours have helped me make good informed decisions. Thanks for explaining so well and so thoroughly.
Who wants to see JayzTwoCents doing a overclocking guide from scratch on this 2 big boys ?
just leave the Thumbs up :D
and a ryzen 3000 series overclocking guide too!
@@roygfs indeed that would be perfect :D
he did and there SHIT
top banana *they’re
Don’t @my dude like that
AMD FTW.
Vega 64 is a fabulous in today's same price range. Vega 56 is Great buy too.
Nvidia need to give something to audience or they are gonna go out of business after Google and Apple standing behind AMD.
Amd are backed by Google and apple?
@@anishabisht4213 yes
Ew, why is Apple behind mad 🤮
How Loud are the fans at 100% for Gaming? to keep the temp at 60c
Hi jay great video, but i need to ask a question all the benchmarks ive seen are on an intel based machine which is ok but what do the new amd cards bench like on the new x570 boards with pcie4.0 as the 5700xt are pcie4.0?
