Started playing DCS 3 days ago. Bought FC3 2 days ago.
Played with the SU-27 and F-15 yesterday.
Just landed the SU-33 on the carrier in the training missions.
Slammed on the deck first try, broke landing gear. Hit the rear of the ship on the second try. Missed the wires on the third try, but was able to keep her flying and went around for another try, and stuck the landing 😁
Why go through pilot training when you can play DCS and do this shit lol /s
I’m late but hell yeah !! That’s the spirit. I bought the su-33, f-15 and a-10 today. I’m buying the f1-16, 14, and 18 soon. I haven’t even played the game but I watched plenty of videos on jets that’ll fit me. I’m no noob to air sims but Ik dcs will be a challenge. Can’t wait to play in a few days (building my pc)

"Special afterburner mode" ie "get rid of as much fuel as possible before leaving the deck." :)
VERY good. I did not know about the extra brake and extra power - thank you very much. It does make life a little easier if you initially go to the return point (mode RTN). When you get there, NAV changes automatically to LDN.

Also press left Alt + I to lower titanium protection screens in engine intakes to gain 10% more power.
Sentinel told them this before they started and was ignored.....

those screens give you regular amount of power-not extra,they limit you by around 7 percent for when flankers needed to take off in dirtier runway so they dont sweep the carrier deck as thorough
FOD screens are down by default. You only need them.on unprepared ground.
Personally fully loaded I would recommend grids up (+10% power, L alt +I), flaps up (allows u to get more speed), special afterburner mode (u had this), and mega brakes (also mentioned). As soon as you clear the ramp slam the stick back into your crotch and get the gear up. That should allow you to maintain a positive climb rate. Max takeoff weight is the 72k lbs also worth mentioning. Not sure if the blast deflectors actually do anything but they’re cool you can be teleported to the take off position using “u” key.
on the manual it states "Please do not use the air intake anti-FOD shields [LAlt + I] for deck takeoff because they decrease
engine efficiency thrust to 12%." so this confused me a little
did the landing first try. Heres what you have ot do:
Gear down, Flaps Full and Hook down at 300kmph
maintain the speed specified by the aircarft and just follow the circle it will lead you in
Works for CASE 1, 2 and 3
Would be interesting to see how a takeoff from the absolute rear most point of the flight deck would go. I know the Kuznetsov is not designed for that but the new british carriers can use their full 300m of length for a takeoff run. That way it might even be competitive compared to a CATOBAR carrier, at least in terms of aircraft payload - without the strain on the airframe created by the catapult launch.
They need to update the Kuznetzov like they did with the Nimitzes

I learned this today and did a great landing on like 5 try’s I had someone teach me tho it is now my favorite plane
Another thing is to NEVER land the Flanker D above 300km/h (~166.6kn) or forcing the aircraft to land despite being too high above the landing area.Doing so will either miss the wires or breaking the gears.Not smthin you want.
But if you do try to land at high speeds,activate the airbrake. If you are landing with the total weight of approx >29000kg ,USE FLAPS. I've tried landing with max weight w/o flaps.My gear broke 100% of the time.Note: The airbrakes take a few seconds to fully extend so don't extend it when you're just half kilometer from the carrier.
If your flaps are blown out somehow,simply smash that afterburner and wait till the weight reduce.Or throw away the unused payload and missiles.
Somehow I feel the 'Smaller Circle should be inside the Big Circle' method becomes irrelevant when you're less than a kilometer away from the carrier.By then,i would judge the optimal landing angle it from my memory.(idk how to explain this but the point is i try to remember at what angle did i land successfully before,and compare it with the current angle)
I usually always have special after burner mode engaged until I get up to 200+ kn and 2000ft
Great vid as usual! One question I wanna ask You is how You manage to have fighters parked on the side of the Kuz? In the editor the only thing I can manage to put up is one Su-33 in one of the only 3 park spot ready to take off....
Thanks for the video bro, but what did you do to make the wheels stop on the red stops? That's my problem. I can't get the jet blast deflector benefit as long as those red stops which are not animated to rise, block the wheels. Pressing the U (takeoff position) key, or re-asking the tower for takeoff wont make those stops work.
I'd be grateful if someone knows the right steps to have the stops do their job, otherwise you cannot benefit from the jet blast deflector doors, because the thrust increase by having the deflectors risen is a scripted feature in DCS. You must get the stops to activate in order to trigger the thrust increase script of the deflectors!
how come my lights in the Cockpit are @ low visibility, and yours are bright af? is there a key I need to press to get them so bright?

As long as you use the More powerful of the two wheel brakes and Special afterburner mode then I've not manage to over-load her, but will investigate.
@@grimreapers as far as I've experimented, AI cannot takeoff from 1/2 ramps when over 26800Kg, I am able to do it consistently only when around 29500
What i find funny. Is i was bitching all day yesterday trying to get one of these in the air. Also. If one obly had FC3 due to lack of Head tracking would that prevent flying with you
Greetings, in the Su-33s settings there is an entry next to the refueling boom command labled 'Receive Mode', is this command part of the refueling sequence? I did not see it mentioned in this video.

OOC, I notice you and your teammates tend to land a little faster than "onspeed AOA" (green circle AOA) when doing carrier landings. Any specific reasons why?

No catapults on Kuznetsov? Tried launching today from the deck but nothing. Just taxied to the back and used breaks+full throttle... it works but a cat launch would be cooler.
Also, can you use catapults on the US carriers with SU33? (Only carrier capable plane i got at the moment). Practicing landings/takeoff right now.
NVM, saw a documentary and apparently they use full AB and the jump launch.
Where can I do carrier landing? I can't find a Mission or something like that.

So what carrier can you take off from if you have only bought the Su-33? Don't you need Supercarrier to take off in the Su-33?
U need SC module if you want to operate from the high fidelity USA or Rus carrier. Can sill land on the old carriers without SC nmodule.

This is old, but as far as I know, the su-33 cant take off fully loaded from the carrier, thats why you almost crashed, I think the limit is around half load.

I have no idea what ur talking about. I’ve taken 90% fuel, a fuck ton of 250kg bombs under the engines, and 4 missiles. Still took off
I thought DCS was supposed to be a serious sim, but the Admiral Kuznetsov being seaworthy and fully operational is simply too unrealistic

It's made by a (formerly) Russian company. They had to pretend that Admiral K can go faster than 20 knots without putting a hole in the ozone layer.

How do you unfold the wings? Like I’m literally trying it but for some reason it won’t work?
Right-Shift + P, also im pretty sure you need engines and electrical systems. It might not work if there isnt enough space either
so my special afterburner wont work am I doing something wrong its bound to my hotas and keyboard and the button wont work:(

@@julianneumann5760 f-15 cannot land on carriers. It has hook just for emergency landings, but it is probably just esthetic thing in dcs. Su 27 vs 33, i would take 33 for carrier landings :D

Sincerely, looking forward for this plane one day to get fully clickable (not just partially thanks to Redk0d mod) but also full starting procedure, switching off, autopilot setting, tanking ops, use of the various weapons radar etc in O.V. (original version) of course and localized. It would be amazing. I wish they allowed to crowdfund the reasearch and development fro 1 year to launch a 5\6 year project so to have it come to life (and maybe then get the work be transfered also to other Sukhoi family) however I stress how would be cool to have Su 27 in a deep professional ASM, I understand I will need to be patient or put my expectation to rest if not to dig them, but dreaming is a must, for simulators and not.

Just learning this myself, turns out its default Left Shift + W, you need to hold it turn. The actual keybinding is called 'Wheel Brake Start'.
