People hop on PvP servers to do air-to-air shenanigans, but then there's these people that re-enact the Swedish national defense strategy which forces players to do more air-to-ground than air-to-air.
Harrier, four AIM-9M and a reduced fuel loadout. You’ll get up and down quickly. No radar or datalink, but has the rest of the capability nailed if you’re only using Fox 2.
I think he probably got a lock, but fired too late so the missile just didn't have time to track. Even with rear aspect missiles you can get front aspect locks sometimes, but it's so shortly before the merge that it doesn't really help you. I don't know how much this applies to DCS' F5, though.
@@wurfyy Sure, it still is "possible", but I've flown F5 enough to know that the AIM9P that it shoots (I assumed he shot the best version), will go dumb 95% of the time head on let alone even from behind if you're not shooting at a good aspect angle.
i like to imagine that when he's landed and just sitting waiting for a person to fly over the pilot is just sitting there eating lunch or on his phone vibing as if he's fishing.
I'm almost sure that turning off the radar in the Su-27/33 also turns off your IFF, so that might be the reason why you keep getting killed by friendlies. Anyway, they could've checked the F10 map for friendlies in the area.
So when's the VTOL version of this coming out? If they're (sometimes) watching for sneaki breekis using roads as runways, fly a plane that doesn't need a runway
This is super cool, I'm gonna check out your other DCS videos as well. Quick question though, have you ever heard of IL-2 Sturmovik? It's among the most realistic flight sims out there, and it has a WW2 setting. There are basically no instructions though, and with earlier planes you have to learn how to manually control the airflow to the radiator among other things. Someone had to dig up an old manual on the ME262 just to learn how to turn it on without the engines blowing up (which is apparently a thing that could happen irl) which I think adds to the charm and draw of the game.
But there are basically instructions on how to operate your plane in IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles... It's called the specifications tab on the map screen, where it shows you it's max limits, it's optimal operating limits, and even specific quirks and features of the plane. Also the startup procedure for most planes are completely automated, as there aren't really any binds for the switches you would need to flip for startup. The only thing you really need to worry about on startup are jet ignitions (me262), fuel mix, and prop pitch, whenever they need to be controlled manually. For air water and oil controls, all you need to reference is the specifications tab, and keep the cooling within those limits described there with the corresponding control and you won't have any problems.
@@webweaver3015 though the one thing DCS doesn't have is the crazy wing to wing dogfighting that you get from the WWI flying circus modules. Plus in IL2 Great Battles there is a much more extensive and varied selection of WWII planes, 56 to 9 (which is still baby numbers compared to IL2 1946's 388 aircraft), with damage models built for gunfighting, and being far more inviting to potential new sim pilots with simplification options. Then again, I'm pretty biased towards gameplay centered around true dogfighting and not press button to win at little triangles on a tiny screen. ;P
I mean, it's difficult to see what's below you, especially at high speed. You are right though, DCS players rely on radar a little too much. You can see a lot with your eyes lol.

@@verticalflyingb737 why would that be a ban?
@@lucasZr113 Simply put, it completely ruins the fun.
Blue Flag and Growling Sidewinder (plus pretty much every PvP server) was completely unplayable for like a week after Drewski put out the first road strategy video because everyone and their grandmas were doing it before the servers banned it.
People hop on PvP servers to do air-to-air shenanigans, but then there's these people that re-enact the Swedish national defense strategy which forces players to do more air-to-ground than air-to-air.
@@verticalflyingb737 oh, I can see why now. Thanks for the answer

Absolutely love this. You got me into DCS, rock on!
The echoing “nooooooo” in the valley at the end had me LOL’ing out loud. 😂
This tactic would be so good if there was a Harrier variant with radar in game like Sea Harrier FA.2 or AV-8B Harrier II Plus
Yup, but he is using ER fox2s for no emissions, you could load a Harrier with 4 Aim9's and the gunpod.......
Harrier, four AIM-9M and a reduced fuel loadout. You’ll get up and down quickly. No radar or datalink, but has the rest of the capability nailed if you’re only using Fox 2.
First rookie didn't realize that there's a difference between rear aspect and all aspect missiles, of which the F5 fox 2s are only rear... tis a shame

It's just so good. Don't stop Drewski, feeeeeeeed ussssss moooooore!!!! Lulz
Omg the Quality of the the video have just been getting better and better , beautiful work
So when's the VTOL version of this coming out? If they're (sometimes) watching for sneaki breekis using roads as runways, fly a plane that doesn't need a runway
Omg yes! Your last dcs video when you did this is one of my all time favorite vids on yt. So excited to watch this.
Il2 is good, but pales in comparison to DCS
@@webweaver3015 though the one thing DCS doesn't have is the crazy wing to wing dogfighting that you get from the WWI flying circus modules. Plus in IL2 Great Battles there is a much more extensive and varied selection of WWII planes, 56 to 9 (which is still baby numbers compared to IL2 1946's 388 aircraft), with damage models built for gunfighting, and being far more inviting to potential new sim pilots with simplification options.
Then again, I'm pretty biased towards gameplay centered around true dogfighting and not press button to win at little triangles on a tiny screen. ;P
@@SavannahBanana i loved IL 1946, but couldnt get into the newer ones
@@webweaver3015 the damage model in il 2 is wayyy better

Alternative title: "Drewski intentionally practices Ukraine's air defense strategy"
You need a bush plane outfitted with a bunch of AtA missiles. That looks like it would be the ultimate version of this strat.
I mean, it's difficult to see what's below you, especially at high speed. You are right though, DCS players rely on radar a little too much. You can see a lot with your eyes lol.
They could learn a thing or two from WW2 pilots.
i rely too much on eyes
it might be why im horrible in modern dogfights and why i do well in ww2 flight sims
this radar stuff aint for me
