Beautiful PRS. And that thing he said about affordability is much appreciated. So many signature guitars are so well appointed and high end, only rock stars can afford them.
I had really seriously looked at buying this guitar a couple of years ago but got lost in the sea of guitar choices we all have now. The top is growing on me but the natural look of the back, sides, and headstock are classic and gorgeous. I want to see the wood. Zach seems like a cool and humble dude and the fact that these sell really well should tell us all something. Now, not always, but a lot of the time if people are buying this guitar, Zach and PRS must be doing something right. Great job on the video! Sweetwater is a very cool place. Been there and loved it!
I got to demo it at a guitar store on the pedal display and it is an extremely versatile guitar. So impressed by how much went into giving the consumers a great product!
@@grouchosays that's why it's an SE model. if Shinedown were to explode in popularity tomorrow, there would be Core version in his hands inside a week. he might be a great musician, but he's a mid-tier "rock star", he get's a mid-tier signature model ONLY. for reference. Mark Tremonti has an SE signature series AND a Core model signature series. because he spent time in the top-tier of rock stars. granted that was 20 years ago, and you've likely never heard of him either. you're gonna have to take it on trust he has a "bigger" name.
@@grouchosays oh. i'm not a young player, by any means. unless 50 counts as young. puts my Tremonti statement in perspctive, you probably HAVEN'T heard of him.
I got one of these a couple of years ago. Had a bad back and my Les Paul was killing me. Found this guitar, like many others, I didn't know who Zach Myers was but loved the guitar. It's similar to a Les Paul only the knobs are arranged so it's easier to reach the volume knobs while playing than on the Gibson. Mine weighs in at 6.5 lbs which is one of the lighter ones. They are often in the low 7.x lbs. A really nice guitar, only thing I changed so far is the knobs for reflector knobs and put plain brass studs and a better nut on it. So mostly aesthetic changes.
Owned mine for almost 3 years now, and she keeps getting better and better. My #1. Opposite of Zach, I went ahead and changed the tuners, nut, toggle, input jack, pots and caps, and soon I'll have my #7 pickups from a pre lawsuit Singlecut installed. Didn't have to do all that, but wanted to make it my own and in short, I don't see myself parting ways with it. Every time I take it out to play, it just feels like me, like I'm home.
I had mine for 3 years, I like it more every day. I love the thicker neck and the "fender like" tone when desired. The look is exceptional! I let go of my three Les Pauls when I got this baby, never missed those.
"What you bought was what I play" Having your own signature guitar is good enough, but actually using them for the live shows is such a king move. Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World does this too ever since his signature model from Fender came out.
I just ordered one of these today, wow it sounds so very clear and nice, im thinking replacing pickups is a mind set I am going to get past with this guitar, and to me those sound a lot like 57 classics, except they are not chirpy as those can be, I cant wait to get it, thanks for the review,
This might sound crazy, but I traded in a Gibson Les Paul for this one. The bridge pickup on this sings unlike any humbucker I've heard. Korean made too. It's funny listening to him talk about the brass saddles because that's actually the one thing I'd change lol. They vibrate a little too much and produce too much twang.
I had a lot of issues with mine. The neck pickup wouldn’t stay level and it wouldn’t stay in tune. I had to replace the pickup springs with stronger ones and have the nut replaced. The main appeal of a PRS SE is that they claim to setup the guitars before they send them out, but I beg to differ. I want emphasize I received the guitar through a local business who just handed me the box unopened from PRS. Sweetwater, has never sent me a guitar that is unplayable.
Been looking at this guitar ever since it was released. Finally got it last week in Myers Blue. Playability is great, especially with the satin neck. Sounds awesome. Love the feedback you can get from the semi hollow body and the neck pickup is total Eric Clapton Woman Tone.
I have one in a limited run sunburst finish. Overall, a nice guitar, but really doesn't like to stay in tune. If you replace the nut, tuners and maybe pickups, would be very nice.
Would be really cool if they came out with a few more colors for this model. I would rewire it to be single volume and tone and mini toggles for each pickup
Tbone Shredder His band is well known in the industry for using a lot of backing tracks live. In other words, a lot of what you hear coming from the stage is not being played live. You may as well stay home and crank your hone stereo.
Did he say he owns a couple 59 Les Pauls? I wonder if he meant custom shop reissues? I know Shinedown had a few hits but I wouldn't think he did that well. Or maybe he wrote the hits what do I know.
I'd imagine the nut is filed down to fit the strings. I think when he means it's not modified, he means he plays it with the SE nut, he doesn't swap it for a core nut or a different brand/material.
Hello! As of now, the PRS SE Zach Myers Signature guitars are only available as right handed models. There aren't very many PRS models that are produced as left handed versions at this time, but we'd be glad to discuss options and availability if you'd like to reach out directly. Feel free to call in any time. Thanks for your interest! Larry Reed, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3091, Larry_Reed@sweeater.com
Talking about how a coloured knobs would take you away from the beautiful top. Okay, then how about that ugly zebra pick ups? Amber color is still woody clor and would match the trampas green top. But damn that cream and black zebra pickups just look so damn ugly, and plasticy, and cheap, etc. Call it homage to the vintage or not, it doesn't look good no matter what guitar it's in.
I have no idea who this guy is but I know one thing for sure PRS will give a signature model to anyone with basic guitar talent. By the way the color is very bad.
@@juanvaldez5422 You couldn't pay me to play a PRS on stage as I have always thought they look like very bad cheap Strat copies from the early 80's. Yes I'd play one in the studio as they play nice but look crap.
The fact that he does not want his signature guitar to be expensive really wins my approval.
Just got mine yesterday it’s amazing
He’s probably made so much more money by keeping it cheap

His explanation of the aesthetic of the instrument is really well presented. Maybe he should be a guitar designer?
