Great video. Just got my s5ii and not enough people talking about the real time luts for photos. I love shooting photos of my family all the time but i would tend to not edit those raws until a month later. Definitely a time saver once you find your preferred look.
Right?! This is a life saver for those types of shoot. I can post the pictures during or right after an event by simply sending them to my phone and if I want to do minor adjustments I can even just do them directly on the iPhone photos app! Suuuuper underrated feature.
I bought into the Fuji ecosystem in July, and by December I had sold both the Fujifilm X100V and the Fujifilm X-H2S. I tried very hard to vibe with both cameras, but it just wasn't working for me. What I truly need is a hybrid camera that will blend with my C70s. I think you found it!
I find my self looking forward to your videos. Bro… thank you for mentioning this LUT idea. I never even thought of using Fuji LUTS!!!!! Geeezzzze. That right there made the decision for me. I am totally the guy that HATES editing. Great stuff!
I love how laid back your videos are! To be honest, I think you won't be able to "import" Fujifilm recipes per say, as all simulations online are basically tweaking settings like highlights, rgb etc so I don't see a way to one for one import them. However you could easily find a similar LUT and have similar results. I also think the hype with x100v is more about the portability and the fact that you can just pocket the camera. For me, I prefer to take my X-T3 when travelling as it is a much cheaper camera with cheaper lenses, so when travelling I don't need to stress about losing or damaging my a-cam. I will be picking up the s5ii very soon for video work and I'd hate to take it in every single trip mostly because of its importance to my work. But like you said, it's very exciting to have more cameras to be able to give us good straight out of camera photos!
Appreciate the insight! I totally agree with you on portability part. Although you can use a pancake lens on the s5ii, the x100 series is so conveniently small! Also, with filmconvert I can add true film grain and tweak it to my hearts content in davinci as opposed to a simple LUT.
Love the content man! The S5ii looks extremely great, and I'm definitely considering one with the great reviews coming from ya...but I have to interject: as a fuji XS10 and GFX 50R shooter, Fuji "recipes" are basically Luts you add to the camera profile - the main difference between Fuji and other systems is the fine tuning you do to the recipe/LUT in camera. Coming from Panasonic and Sony, I found the fuji handling film grain and highlight rolloff/halation in a way I liked better than any of my other stills cameras. You can fine tune the LUT with a curves adjustment, and adjust grain size, style, and number. I couldn't do that on the Sony A7iii, not sure if the S5 has that level of adjustability. But the S5i was going to be my next purchase til I went with Fuji...the S5ii may swing me back towards Panny ;)
Thanks for the feedback! I can totally see the Fuji emulations being a step above but I also have programs like filmconvert where they are made out of true film stock and the grain and everything is emulated specifically for the sensor of the camera I’m using as well as can be tweaked to my hearts content.

I have never shot real film but I assume it has been like that, that the film stocks had a fixed white balance they came with?
I think this is going to eat into Fuji's dominance in the out-of-camera film look. I enjoy their films sims, but being able to upload ANY LUT to the camera, rather than 'just' being able to tweak the ones they provide, will surely be the deciding factor for a lot of people. I have an X-H2, but find myself picking up my OM-1 more as I prefer the shooting experience. Have also been considering ditching APSC and having MFT at one end and FF at the other. With Lumix I could do this across formats - ditch the OM-1 for a G9ii and keep all the lenses, then add an S5ii for FF at the other. Two formats, yet two cameras that are essentially the same, albeit with different sensor sizes.
As for Fuji, part of why they are popular is that most of them don't use a straight up regular bayer sensor, but rather their own way of mapping colors, so the sensor itself will highlight colors in a different way than most other cmos sensors. so does the camera actually take the LUT in account to choose exposure if in manual mode? (you said if you apply filters in lightroom you often have to adjust exposure)
Yeah! What you see is what you get SOOC. Used it yesterday on a shoot and was thoroughly impressed again! I’m going to be tweaking my LUT to have more film grain and slightly more contrast as I like my pictures to be more “contrasty” than my videos
Few days ago I purchased S5 II and loaded some luts from Panasonic and some I purchased. There is an issue with them I got. When exposure compensation is set to default they all look overexposed and washed out. I have to lower exposure compensation significantly to make them look ok. But this makes my raw files very underexposed.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz I’ve worked it out. I was applying lut in real time lut section of photo style. Which applies lut on the top of vlog. For photography custom lut should be set in “my photo styles”.
Awesome video, this is a feature that I didn't expected when I bought the camera last week and I can't wait to test it for real. I have a question though: you seems to use the legacy luts files on your camera. Why ? Thanks man!
Thanks man! I like my pictures to have a bit more contrast than my videos and legacy does that for me. I’m actually going to be redoing some of the phantom LUTs to have film grain and more contrast specifically for my pictures
There is definitely a secret sauce in Fuji jpegs. I've been a photographer for 10 years and I'm completely unable to replicate the look you get with a jpeg recipe in editing the RAW. Coincidentally, I also own an S5 II and this really intrigues me.
Nice video!! .. I'm learning with the real time out now. Do you use the standard variant of the luts that came in with the bundle or the white balance offset ones ?. I think the white balance offset versions are too green, since the s5II leans more to green than magenta.
Is the lut applied to Raw photo and the photo still remains a raw image? I want to apply a monochrome lut but still wants the raw capabilities after that baked in lut to do minor adjustments.
It is not. It’s applied to whatever picture profile you choose while in RTL and is written to your card as a jpeg image. One thing you can do though is record the RTL pictures AND raw to your card at the same time so you’ll have both, just an option 🤷🏽♂️
If I’m ever doing client work, I would 100% choose to shoot my photos in raw of the RTL… keep in mind that the client is paying for the best IQ possible 🙂
Not for my videos, no. Not unless the client wants baked in footage. I personally love color grading and believe it’s one of the most important parts of a film so I would rather have the most latitude and flexibility possible
Keep in mind that the subject of this video is creating in-camera looks for photos, to bake them in. If you shoot RAW+JPEG your RAW file will be available for post editing. And yes you can load and use monitor LUTs on LUMIX cameras dating back to the GH5.
I have heard and read that dust problem is very common in Sigma 24 70. I want to buy a sigma 24 70 for my old lumix s5 but this dust problem worries me. Since I live in a place where there is more soil and sand, I hesitate to buy extra. What is your advice on this?.

One of them is shooting video and photos at music festivals and selling my photos to people on the spot. My second shooter wants to do it badly, but I’ve been super iffy on it, because I’m going to want to edit them first, but if I could apply my own luts to them!!??? I will be making a lot more money a lot faster at night clubs and music festivals. Just usb/sd card dongle the photos right to their phone, transaction done in 2 minutes. No editing, no losing which customer is which online later on, just on spot transaction done. Super sold. @@AnthonyRodriguezz oh no, I have a few G Master lenses. When I sell them and my body I should have around $8k, and Lumix lenses are cheaper. I’d be saving money really.
Wait a minute. You could use resolve to make a new lut. Convert V-Log to F-Log on one node and then one of F-Log to Fuji Eterna or other Fujifilm lut. Make some adjustments and save a new lut.
That´s how you do it - remember to save it as a 33 cube. you can do the conversion as you said or just find any V-Log Lut throw it on 1 node and then export your 33 cube :)
I don't have an S5iiX yet but I'm planning on making film print/film emulation LUTs myself in Resolve, I use them for fun in some productions and it would be awesome to have that in the Panasonic. Stay tuned!

Less dynamic range that jpegs?? Because that’s how RTL pops out the images anyways. I could see it having less DR than raw images but not jpegs. Have you tested this by any chance??

You know you can export a Lightroom preset as lut and use it on Premiere and vice versa? You don't need a camera for taht. Just software. But the live lut feature is kinda useful indeed.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz Ohhh yeah it's faster. Not quite precise editing and something I would do professionally but for fun it's great. I won't buy this camera just for fun tho hehe.
I usually set my exposure how I want it, then my desired contrast, I almost always desaturate green and lean them a little blue, then I add some color contrast by finessing a very faint orange and teal over the image.
I hope there will be some surprise with the Panasonic S5ii X, like "4k 60p uncrop". That will change anything, and Will be far better than the unbeating Canon Eos R6ii on this price range.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz yeahl agree!! S5ii is way better than R6ii. Just only lil problem is the 4k 60p crop, and the bad autofocus in 120p and Up. Unforunately there is no alternative for x100v/vi. Most compact Lumix S9 doesn't have flash, ND filter and there is no good lenses - they are big or garbage like Lumix S 26mm f/8. Lumix is on the good way but Fuji for daily point'n'shoot is 10/10
I agree on the lenses and it suck that it doesn’t have an EVF but to say it’s not an alternative is a little steep because it actually works better than just an alternative for me 😉 I use it for professional shoots because of the video capabilities

@@AnthonyRodriguezz how about the photos of your wife in the video using the real time lut? Is it eastman rm? Nice colors
@@JapYzawA yes
so does the camera actually take the LUT in account to choose exposure if in manual mode?
I’m trying to follow here… what’s the issue? They are underexposed?
@@AnthonyRodriguezz I’ve worked it out. I was applying lut in real time lut section of photo style. Which applies lut on the top of vlog. For photography custom lut should be set in “my photo styles”.
@@kamilpotato3764where is my photo styles located under ?
I have an S1 one and i am thinking about switching to the s5iiX when its out
The difference between the s5ii and s5iix isn’t too drastic
@@AnthonyRodriguezz i know but i like the design and its better for filmmaking like to record to ssds
@@marionxah fair enough! I love the blacked out s5
At 1:25 how did u set up your iphone to get it to upload from your iPhone to Mac computer?
Airdrop!
I use the standard!
@@AnthonyRodriguezz Fantastic. Thank you.
I'm reallly wanting to move from Canon EOS R to the new Lumix S5 Mii. I just got done editing over 200 raw images for a client.
If I’m ever doing client work, I would 100% choose to shoot my photos in raw of the RTL… keep in mind that the client is paying for the best IQ possible 🙂
hey hi im real timelut shooter also 😊 I have one question 🙋🏻♂️ did you use phantom lut to example photos? thanks
Yes sir!
Hey Anthony, great viseo. Are you using real time lut section or the my photo style section?
Hey man! I’m using the RTL
How we can download or buy fuji film stimulation ? So I can try something that you mentioned in my camera ?
I’m not too sure!
I use the phantom luts!
@@AnthonyRodriguezz where I can purchase those?
@@ryanseif they are linked in the description 👆🏼
You can't. I own Sony, Panasonic and Fuji and there is nothing quite like the Fuji unfortunate
Do you use real time luts in your video (baked in).
Not for my videos, no. Not unless the client wants baked in footage.
I personally love color grading and believe it’s one of the most important parts of a film so I would rather have the most latitude and flexibility possible
@@AnthonyRodriguezz so do you use the view assist.
@@markshirley01 yes I use view assist and color grade in post!
Does it have a lut view only option?
It does, yes!
Keep in mind that the subject of this video is creating in-camera looks for photos, to bake them in.
If you shoot RAW+JPEG your RAW file will be available for post editing.
And yes you can load and use monitor LUTs on LUMIX cameras dating back to the GH5.
Can you add grain in camera on top of the real time LUT?
Not in camera but you can add whatever grain you’d like in the editing software you’re using to create/tweak your luts
I have heard and read that dust problem is very common in Sigma 24 70. I want to buy a sigma 24 70 for my old lumix s5 but this dust problem worries me. Since I live in a place where there is more soil and sand, I hesitate to buy extra. What is your advice on this?.
I never really think about it 🤷🏽♂️ It should be a bit better after sigma has updated their lenses!
It’s an amazing lens
If your model is one of those that is affected, Sigma will clean it for free.
@@genesisjlopez2854 I live in Turkey and although camera brands give importance here, lens brands unfortunately do not give much importance. There is no support for Sigma and other lenses, I will have to send the lens abroad, which is a long and difficult process.
Exactly which lut did you use from the pack?
The Eastman RM from the film pack
Are you just adding the LUT or also using a Vlog_709 with it?
Using v log with it!
@@AnthonyRodriguezz can you show how you put it all together? Appreciate you for sharing your take on the S5ii!

I have the same setup and noticed that the iso seems to hover around 6400
Not sure what you mean by “it seems to hover above 6400”
Holy shit…..I think you just sold me on the Lumix. I’ve been in the fence. I have an A7iv and want a second body, I’m iffy on the ZVE1 and decided the next camera must be the FX3 (cinema camera with mechanical shutter for quick photos indoors, FX30 is electronic shutter only). For $4k I could get two s5iis, plus have 6k open gate and better ibis. I’ve been on the fence, playing out scenarios in my head. Super sold. The only two Sony features I will miss is the batter life and the 14mm 1.8 GM ( literally the main reason I kept my Sony. The lens is sooooo gorgeous. But oh well, I’ll make do with that 18mm 1.8 )
Hahaha! It’s is my honor to make you spend more money 😂
@@AnthonyRodriguezz oh no, I have a few G Master lenses. When I sell them and my body I should have around $8k, and Lumix lenses are cheaper. I’d be saving money really.
Heck yeah! The sigma 16-28 & 28-70 are 🔥as well!
Wait a minute. You could use resolve to make a new lut. Convert V-Log to F-Log on one node and then one of F-Log to Fuji Eterna or other Fujifilm lut. Make some adjustments and save a new lut.
Yes you can literally do that…. Wild, right?!
Stay tuned!
Is the LUT only for the s5ii and not the original s5?
It can work with both. There are two version in the pack
Killer feature!
Right?!
Great video and content. Keep it going 😊
Thanks man!
love this bro!
Thanks!
Does your lut disappear if you format your card in camera?
Once it’s saved in camera it’s there forever until you delete it in camera
Price difference between S5ii and x100v is colossal. Therefore, the comparison is unreasonable. Will it replace Sony A7iv?
It’s actually not… retail the difference is 600$ and you can’t find the x100v anywhere nowadays for retail so you’re looking at 1600$ roughly used
But yeah I totally get where you’re coming from! Although that wasn’t the main purpose of the video :/
Yeah you must not be on any Fuji pages on fb. People sell them regularly for 1600-1800 and the V just is not worth that much. Just UA-cam hype
@@AnthonyRodriguezz Nah.. Ur content is good bro.. keep it up.. I just shared a perspective.. that's all.. personally I don't understand the hype with fuji cameras.. I mean yeah they are good and capable.. but practically speaking full frame produces much cleaner images than apscs.. then there is the cost of fuji lenses.. taking everything into account, I think I would go for even used older full-frame dslrs over fuji compact apscs.. but if run and gun photography is the motto, then Fujis are great street monsters.
@@Wileyinthestreets Yeah wont you agreee. I have used fuji cameras occasionally.. people talk so much on YT about these cameras.. but I don't know I don't get similar or even anywhere close to those results.. maybe I lack some photography skills.. Idk..
Nice brother

using log for photos produces lower Dynamic Range since v-log is tweaked differently for video...but for some fun its ok, just saying cause people take advices and go to the other extreme part, hehe
Less dynamic range that jpegs?? Because that’s how RTL pops out the images anyways. I could see it having less DR than raw images but not jpegs. Have you tested this by any chance??
@@AnthonyRodriguezz not really i havent, waiting my s5ii next week ... its a classic advice i see in the groups, i cant explain it but there is a limitation to use log profile on pictures, as i said for fun its ok... maybe you are right and this affects raws only...not quite sure since i dont shoot photos a lot :)
Will this work with Lumix GF10?
It will not
heyy can i import lut from ssd?? for lumix s5 mark ii x
No need to. Just put it on any old sd card and import it that way 🙌🏼

You know you can export a Lightroom preset as lut and use it on Premiere and vice versa? You don't need a camera for taht. Just software. But the live lut feature is kinda useful indeed.
Lol this is for photos.
What you’re saying is for video.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz you can also load your custom lut on Lightroom 🤔 or was it cube? I'm sure there's a way there's always a way hahaha cheers
You can’t upload a LUT directly onto your photos when you’re taking them though, which is the main draw to this feature and the video I made 😉
@@AnthonyRodriguezz Ohhh yeah it's faster. Not quite precise editing and something I would do professionally but for fun it's great. I won't buy this camera just for fun tho hehe.
How do you grade your photos.
I usually set my exposure how I want it, then my desired contrast, I almost always desaturate green and lean them a little blue, then I add some color contrast by finessing a very faint orange and teal over the image.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz this is done in your photo editing software (Lightroom or Captureone)
Yes but for the most part I’m using phantom LUTs which are linked in the description
I hope there will be some surprise with the Panasonic S5ii X, like "4k 60p uncrop". That will change anything, and Will be far better than the unbeating Canon Eos R6ii on this price range.

Unforunately there is no alternative for x100v/vi.
Most compact Lumix S9 doesn't have flash, ND filter and there is no good lenses - they are big or garbage like Lumix S 26mm f/8.
Lumix is on the good way but Fuji for daily point'n'shoot is 10/10
I agree on the lenses and it suck that it doesn’t have an EVF but to say it’s not an alternative is a little steep because it actually works better than just an alternative for me 😉
I use it for professional shoots because of the video capabilities
Fuji x100v has leaf shutter that produces unique photo, so not outright x100v killer, more like Film simulation killer
I’m not too sure what a leaf shutter is and how a shutter would affect your images
