Hi Anthony. I recently started using the GX85 with a 20mm f1.7 and was amazed at the quality of the pictures, I don't shoot video. As a little out and about camera it gives great results, is inconspicuous to use on the streets, and doesn't take up much space. Sohhhhhh, yes to Lumix. Sending good vibes from London.
I don't think that was a compliant at release. Remember it was released with a very restrictive time limit for video and that trashy 26mm manual focus lens, fixed aperture! That was an insult to the reviewers and what this camera is capable of! Lumix have now removed the time limit and now ship it with a much better lens.
So i"m working out at Rock in Rio (I work in sound). For each act there is a bunfight of like 50 photographers and videographers. And they need to get their pics and videos graded and uploaded immediately. I kid you not, the S9 would be best for this. Graded in camera. Quick transfer to your phone and boom. But the size and simplicity is what you need. I can tell you not one of these people is going anywhere near an evf or a flash. So when people say it is not a professional camera I completely disagree. On a side not you would be amazed how many are also using an Osmo Pocket 3. Saw one of the artists content guys chasing the lead singer along the stage wing and back. So easy to use and track a a fast moving artist. Obviosuly Sony (the Canon) is the most prevalent, but there are all manner of cameras and rigs being used.
I trusted "professional advice" in the beginning and all my cameras have EVF. I don't remember when I used it last time. Honestly, screens are bright and sharp enough and allow for hip and overhead shooting (if tilted). EVF is just not adding obvious advantages and limits extremely the perspective of the shot, unless I am willing to become acrobatic. So 🪛 you "professional gear fetishists".
Bro! I can't tell you how stoked I was to start taking photos with anamorphic. However, I bought a 35mm Siriu And it was just way too flat. I have an S5ii. I need to get your lens.
Great you love it, I sold mine as an old film guy I missed the viewfinder and real shutter experience too much. Did love the images and video but with a large full frame Lumix lens on it I just couldn't hold it out taking pics using the screen without arm ache after a while, just too heavy! Also loved what isn't talked about, the small MP4 files it produces, super fast to transfer and upload. If you are already in the L mount system then I can see it's a keeper.
I bought S9 body at ~USD1088, travel with S9+20-60mm kit lens, manual focus M-mount lens and it's not as heavy as my previous Full-frame camera set up. Besides I didn't get used to the missing of EVF sometimes, but I can still enjoy shooting photos and B-roll footages with it. Of course there are better options like Sony ZV-E1 / A7C / A7CII / A7CR But I love the best IBIS and colour science of Panasonic, S9 is close enough for my on-the-go full frame camera.
I'm first! This is a fascinating camera for real! When I get my money right, I could see myself getting that in addition to the S5II(X). For now, I still need to master my Canon M50 MKII & M6 MKII before I upgrade.
I'm glad you consider it an upgrade. I've been looking at Canon and the M6II and love the look and the M line looks amazing, but coming from Lumix GH6/7, G9ii and S9... I feel like they are upgrades, despite all I hear about Canon color, etc.
@@adidabax6809 I love Panasonic's colors and image quality. I'm more into photography than video right now, and the M6 MKII is great for that given its 32.5 MP sensor. The sensor works great with the Sigma lenses (I have the 16mm 1.4) and the EF-M 32mm 1.4 lens. That said, I can't wait to get my hands on the S5II when the time comes.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz used is not an option, just impossible to find one, please suggest lens for s9 coz its 400 dollars cheaper then s5ii, i am getting an s5ii with 20-60 and 50 mm lens for 2500 dollars though
What are the video codec differences than the S5iiX? If you could screen record while you scroll through the full codec screen, I can see it all. I was trying to find the difference because I was thinking of this as a gimbal camera to compliment the S5iiX. I would want to shoot this in MOV, 422 10-L at 60p. I am fine with the crop. I actually have a set of Canon EF-S lenses for the crop. And would you be able to do a deep dive video on this from the pro video perspective? I think the camera was totally misunderstood and mis-marketed during the launch. You are using it how I think it should be marketed as a small lightweight B or C Camera or a professional's daily carry.
The S9 has all the codec options of the S5ii (not S5iix) as far as I can tell on mine, plus 4k open gate in their new MP4 Lite wrapper. So the difference is it going to be no All-I options and no ProRes.
@@AnthonyRodriguezz "😂 that's what he said." Thanks guys! Sorry if my comment sounded like you should have screen recorded. I was half asleep and meant if you do a deep dive, I'd like to see it. Thank you again. I'm a fan of the channel.
Glad to see the S9 getting proper love. Im by no means a Lumix fan boy as I use cameras from all sorts of brands but I feel the S9 got terrible press out the gate for no good reason when it's such a decent little kit. Makes you wonder what else the internet is wrong about 😏
i just want a view finder. If it had that it would be amazing for me because I love taking photos. I used to have sony a6400 so this camera appeals to me alot
Tbh I can deal with no EVF, although I much prefer having one…. What I can’t forgive is that they gave it that awful side hinged flippy flappy screen. It’s like they wanted to fck us over twice.
Exactly! As a c cam for video this camera is perfect, i want it for anamorphic video. Almost about to pull the trigger on one. But as a hybrid camera I feel it is a big fail!!! The fact you cannot fit a flash, to me is the BIGGEST flaw, a $1500.00 stills camera that cannot do indoor shots? Your phone is better than that. Although, Lumix have listened and made this camera better with the removal of the time limit and better kit lens.
Rolling shutter due to a no stacked ibis sensor … no flash capabalities … no weather seeled !!! No evf …. No no no … Still prefer to keep my Iphone and my Gx8 …
I’ve never had an issue with rolling shutter, nor need a flash for this type of camera, weather sealing would be nice but not a deal breaker. The EVF Part is a little annoying!
No problem with rolling shutter ? Sure if you only shutting fix subject…. If not no way with such sensor and electronic shutter … Making photo without flash ?!? Are you joking ?!?

You got some chill ass friends and it sounds like a good time. I almost forgot this was a s9 video.
Hahaha that’s awesome 😎
The audio quality is so good. Can you do a tutorial on how you use the EQ to achieve this?
I’m not that great at audio 😭

Superb Video ... Congrats !!! Which Lens are you using with the S9 in the Intro Section ... S9 footage ?
Thanks bro! I was using the Blazar 45mm and the 7 artisans 35mm f5.6
Wait was this sponsored

Excited for the new 18-40 paired with the s9. A good Ricoh GR alternative for street
I might pick up one of those lenses!
Yes, I think lumix are now making this camera a much better option than when it was initially released.
Great video! Might have to add the s9 to my arsenal of lumix cameras. It feels like a really good EDC vlogging camera

Great video! Thanks for sharing, quite useful.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful
A beast with the anamorphic lense🔥
My guy 💪🏼
All right, you just sold me on it :p I'm gonna pick one up this weekend
Woohoo!
I like mine. I'd buy a 2nd if Lumix does the Dark Silver with the 14-40 lens forthcoming. Lumix - don't deny me the coolest color!
That tiny zoom lens they’re coming out with is VERY exciting to me

a pancake lens 40mm f2 would be perfect for this camera, hopefully one day, one manufacture can come up with

Dope footage with anamorphic lens, i am going to buy my first camera. I am confused bw lumix s9 and sony a7c mark 1 which should i get?

What lens do you have on the S9 in this video? Looks like a nice size, smaller than the Sigma 24/45mm I tried.
7artisan 35mm f5.6
What anamorphic lenses were you using?
Blazar Remus 45mm

if only lumix can mak a detachable evf that can go with this
That would be great… no electronic attachments though
Was this episode shot with the FX3, or was it shot with the S5ii?
The fx3!
I had to grade it a bit more to make it look like my S5ii but it’s still a very solid camera.

Which camera would you recommend for photo and video lumix S 5-2 or S 5-2x? Is S9 suitable for photos, or is G9-2 better?
S5ii and I would say the s9 is better
