Tried this for an hour with no luck, then finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Or maybe an easier way for those like me. Face right while on the platform. Then tap left on the d-pad and do the dash & attack trick. Should work for ya. I can also confirm walking off the roof on the right after the glitch will get the achievement. No need to fight the boss.
Extra tip for anyone struggling with the glitch: Once you get to the top of the first screen, keep holding up+X after performing the somersault all the way into the next screen, otherwise Maxim will load in his default stance and get moved to the entrance of the room instead of falling down to the treasury.
If you're solely trying for the achievement, once you're on the top of the screen @ 3:29 you can walk off the right edge and the game will give you the maxim achievement. Discovered that by happy accident lol. Also for getting on the top of the screen the timing isn't backdash then weapon at the same time, it's more like backdash then weapon in the air.

If anyone else was getting a black screen of death after the somersault from the roof, it was because I was trying this trick in the wrong castle! Make sure you’re doing it in Castle A!

Congratulations! hahaha yeah, it's quite gratifying xD. It works on most platforms and even with Juste (although you may have to use subweapons), but that the place you will arrive could be either a black screen or another place similar to the one you already found. If you like, you can check the other short video that I uploaded to the guide .. you can even take a variation of it and go directly to the fight with Dracula in castle B. I recommend you watch the speedruns so you can try better times!

Falling off the roof did not pop the trophy for me. Fought the boss instead
Walking off the roof didn't work for me. What did was trying to jump and somersault into the top right corner.

Looks like I’m going to have to do this stupid trophy the hard way. Giving up after trying for over an hour an and half. Just can’t get it to work.
Face right on the platform, tap left then try the trick. It’s what finally worked for me.
