The Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol is VERY potent. I'm a veteran of skin procedures, i.e., facelift, botox, Restalyne, red light, and currently going through a series of dual fraxel laser treatments. The Neutrogena RWRR product is very close to Rx tretinoin strength, based on my experience. It's available at drug stores, big box stores, and online. Best of luck with your laser procedure!
Hey Dr Ania, thanks for your informative video. I'd just like to share my experience as a prescription-strength retinoid user (been doing so nearly daily for acne since I was 17, I'm 28 now). I had RF microneedling done just yesterday, and my experience was perfectly as you described. My skin was red in the office immediately post-procedure, but when I reached home (about 30 minutes from the end of the procedure), my skin looked almost as per normal, just very lightly glowy and flushed. Right now (day 1 post-procedure), my skin isn't red at all; all I see are the little tiny scabs from the RF microneedling device. Cheers :)
Congratulations on your videos!!!!,I would like to ask you would you recommend fraxel laser for the undereye area and wrinkles or sylfirm microneedling? Thank you
I love your channel! Thank you so much! 🙏🏻❤️ My question is: When can I start Tretinoin again after a laser? I had a combo of fraxel, co2 and erbium. Laser was heavier around my eyes and mouth. Also, what would be a good microneedling regime to maintain with?
Hi Dr! Big fan here. Thanks to your precious advice, I have bought many Alastin products. I have normal skin, love Tret and dont react bc I sandwich it, now I want to address a light Melasma. I wonder in which order I should use them. I see you do use Nectar even outside of procedures. In the AM I cleanse and sometimes use ZO pads, then Restore face and eyes, Alastin Vit C, A-Luminate, Moisturizer and SPF. At night Restore face and eyes, Tretinoin, Moisturiser, Nectar. Should I use Vit C with A-Luminate? And is Nectar beneficial after the moisturiser? Thanks a million. A 2024 goal is to schedule a visit with you as I have many more questions on micro-needling etc. 🥰❤️✨🙏
Thank you SO much! Here's the order: HA Immerse, Restorative skin complex, A laminate, C radical, Retinol, hydrator I only use nectar before/after procedures and when my face is reacting to strong tretinoin xo
If you are of a darker skin tone and you experience hyperpigmentation after microneedling what do you suggest is best treatment to get rid of the hyperpigmentation?
that would be post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. You want to calm the skin, return it to balance, reduce inflammation and remove the excess pigment. That can be done with brightening creams like Brightalive, A-luminate and EvenTone from Skinbetter combined with a retinol and alpha hydroxy acids that will help exfoliate the pigmented skin. If you wanted to be aggressive, you could consider hydroquinone. I do virtual skin consults so if you are interested you can book an appointment and we can make a plan :)
Hello. For someone in their early 30s would u say getting a clear and brilliant laser once a year is a good idea to maintain collagen or rebuild any lost collagen and keep the skin clear and even? Thanks !
Hi Dr!! i’ve been having some skin colored bumps that look like texture on my skin. Yesterday a derm told me it looks like warts and that she recommends Vbeam laser. I looked at some pictures on the internet and it really doesn’t look like that. How could I be sure? Thank you!!
Hi Ania, According to this video the conclusion is: if you can’t tolerate retinol/retinal/ tretinoin or any other form of retinol (I can’t) you have to say goodbye to any in office procedure. So is no other way to prep your skin for Fraxel/microneedling etc. and if starting with tomorrow all form of retinol will disappear nobody can do anything before procedures. I am waiting for that day when somebody will recommend an alternative to retinol for younger looking skin. So far it seems that after your 30’s retinol is a must have and if you can’t tolerate it then bad luck for you. I have combo skin (normal with oily forehead), very sensitive and very reactive (prone to break outs). It took me ages to find a face cream because if it was too rich I had my face full of bumps and if it was too lightweight didn’t hydrate my skin. Finally I have a good cleanser, a face cream, an eye cream, a nice serum with a short and good list of ingredients (niacinamide, panthenol, urea, glycerine and few other) and a sunscreen. Also a good chemical exfoliant (gel formula) with Aha/bha combo. I have wrinkles under eyes and few fine lines on my forehead and I’m after some effective serum or cream in order to diminish these wrinkles. My eye cream is Zo grown factor for eyes. It is good for hydration but not good to diminish wrinkles. Anyways I’m sure your advice is useful for people who already use retinol and people like me have to keep looking for something suitable for sensitive skin. Have a nice day!
not necessarily. It does mean that deep peels are off the table but there are light peels and light lasers. As far as medium peels, lasers and microneedling, (depending on your skin tone) it could just mean that your down time will be a little longer. that's all
Thank you for including the info/cautions for deeper skin tones!
So strange why did my nurse tell me not to use retinol before hand ? She told me to stop, how many treatments do you need and how far apart are they ?

I would prefer 3 clear and brilliants or 1 fraxel yearly
Does tazorac work as well?
yes, any form of retinoid acid or strong retinol 👍🏼
