  • This video explains the main differences between the effects of micro needling, pens, (like Skin Pen) vs derma rollers, radiofrequency micro needling, (devices like Morpheus 8, Potenza and Vivace) and resurfacing lasers, (C02, Fraxel, Halo). How do these devices work on the skin and what results do they achieve?

Puffiness Hollow dark circles deep deeep lines sagging skin fine lines and creepey skin. Everyday I wakeup depressed of having to look at the mirror. Can you please make some suggestions on this. My favorite for scarring is plain micro needling because it physically breaks up that scar tissue and causes it to restructure. Fraxel Dual or Halo would be a great choice also. C02 can be excellent but it's not for darker skin tones. Microneeling RF would not do too much because it doesn't make too many punctures and the heat does not remodel the scars.

      @@theocbeautymdhi, I'm a bit confused because my son had some scars form from fungal acne (which unfortunately looked like regular acne) and because we were initially treating it as regular acne, it delayed the appropriate treatment of prescription anti fungal topical ketocozanole 2% cream. Once we started using the cream, the skin starting healing quickly but because the fungus had sat there for about a month it caused some scarring. We had used infini RF micro needling a year earlier for a few spot treatments for fresh acne scars and it was like magic. He's young so it worked almost instantly and you could literally not even see where the indentation was. The dr said that the rf is not melting fat if it's pulses quick and the energy is low and the needle depth is 1.5 mm or less? I'm hoping it's true because we have done a couple again and it's taking longer this time- the lesions were bigger than regular acne. Perhaps we should do regular micro needling to continue- I had this thought before but we really need to fix this while they are fresh scars. Also I bought the cream adipleau that regrows facial fat . Thanks for your advice

    Hi Dr. Ania Marie! Im 31 years old. Caucasian, fair skin. Ive been using Tazarotene 0.1% 4x/week for the last four months. Have noticed a marked improvement in the health of my skin and even some fine lines. I wanted to go on accutane for sebum but my derm said that my skin condition didn’t warrant it (which I agree, although my sebum is crazy I never breakout) I also use Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliant a few times a week. My main issue is excess sebum production on my nose, forehead and cheeks. During the last four months on Tazarotene I noticed a decrease in sebum. But now that the hotter weather is here, it’s back to being out of control. Would any type of procedure you outlined help with sebum production? I do have large pores on my cheeks and nose and it just feels like the sebum gushes out this time of year. I don’t eat greasy foods, drink tons of matcha tea and water, eat keto, have a good skincare routine and it’s like I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. My sebum receptors are just crazy. Any guidance would be appreciated that I could take into my next appointment with my derm.

      yes! Find a provider educated by Dr. Zein Obagi. He is a huge proponent of low dose acutane. It doesn't even have to be taken daily. Look for ZO centers near you. Doctors/derms educated by Dr. Obagi prescribe it just for oil control. If you produce a lot of oil, your skincare will not penetrate.

    For rolling & boxcar scars, do you recommend using a microneedle stamp instead of a microneedling pen? My pitted scars are kind of all over my cheeks…I’m just wondering which is the safer method? I have heard that using a stamping motion with a pen works, but does that mean the pen should be off (like not plugged in)….otherwise doesn’t the pen move in & out too fast to control where exactly you’re stamping? I’m just trying to avoid drag. I hope that made sense!

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  2 роки тому

      Actually it did make sense! To avoid drag, or shearing, or tugging, you have to make sure you are getting treated with a high quality professional pen. That determines quality. Good pens cost several thousand dollars and would work very well. I would not stamp either I would use normal circular or linear motion with a high quality pen like SkinPen (as an example).

I have had mild sensi peels in the past, to be honest, my skin is sensitive with mild rosacea

      I love sculptra. I hope you will love the results. Regular microneedling will not affect fat and the microneedling is done with radio frequency it doesn't have to either. This is a great point, and very important. Ethnic skin is very prone to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, so I would advise you find a doctor that understands skin of color well. You can always ask what percentage of the clientele has ethnic skin or find a doctor who has a deeper skin tone. It's just a matter of understanding PIH and how to prevent it.

      @@Sana-np7sy I would love to and I have been thinking about it for some time but I do not have an answer. Here is why: some board certified dermatologists have no special training in cosmetic medicine. Some non-dermatologists are extensively well trained. Some nurse practitioners and physician assistants are better than some doctors and there is no way for a patient to know how to assess the skills of the practitioner. On instagram, there are so many people doing crazy dangerous techniques but the untrained eye won't recognize that.
      I really do wish I had an answer. The best I can do, is suggest looking up credentials AND seeing the results of their work AND asking extensive questions during a consultation as well as looking them up on social media. If you can find someone that does a lot of teaching, they will likely be current and up to date and likely have a passion for it. If they are not in your area, they may be able to recommend someone they know.

    If you wanted to do a laser treatment and a RF Microneedling treatment- which should you do first?

    • @theocbeautymd

      It doesn't matter since they work of different levels of skin.

    Half of the providers who talk about RF microneedling discuss the potential benefits of fat burning and the other half warn about fat burning leaving loose and hollow skin. Can you offer insight on this ?

      yes, over time I am leaning toward moving away from all radio frequency devices because they destroy too much subcutaneous fat. I think pain old and much cheaper microneedling is better for thickening the skin

    Thinking about getting Morpheus 8 do you think the benefits are worth the price tag?

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  2 роки тому +2

      I am honestly not sure. Some people find it intolerably painful. If you are thinking about it, inquire that they numb you for at least 1-1.5 hr and laughing gas can be used to help reduce discomfort as well. Some places offer that as well. It's very important that the operator is excellent, because burns and PIH are common if the settings are too high.
      As far as morpheus 8, I don't think the brand name matters. All RF microneedling systems do pretty much the same thing.
      The biggest benefit I have seen, is skin tightening and mild fat reduction. It probably is the best way to tighten at the moment.

    What do you recommend to a 30 year old for wrinkle prevention? ❤

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  Рік тому

      Tretinoin or retinol. If you have the budget, I'd recommend skinbetter science Alto Advanced, an Alpharet product, Trio, Even tone and a good sunscreen. I love their sunscreens as well.
      If you're on a budget, I would say retinol/tretinoin/alpharet and an excellent sunscreen are priority.

    i did co2 laser. already 3 times in three months. but my scar is not gone. even more scars. what treatment is good Please help me. thank you

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  Рік тому +1

      3 CO2 lasers in three months sounds like a LOT. So if the setting was low, the results would be slow. If the settings were high, the treatments seem to be spaced tightly together. It's impossible to speak on behalf of another provider.
      It's hard to know why you have more scars. Did the laser cause more damage than good? I would suggest going to see a few specialists and getting multiple opinions.

      That's so stressful!! I've researched a lot about facial scars and it seems micro needling is a very good solution. My teenage son is getting it for recent scars but we've been using infini RF micro needling. I have concern about it affecting facial fat and CONSTANTLY ask the dr to be very careful about it. According to the dr , the fat melting would only occur if the energy was turned up too high, the pulse was too long and the needle depth was too. He suggests not going deeper than 1.5 mm and pulsing super fast which I closely watch. It is very effective but I don't know enough to know if it can affect facial fat. To be proactive I've been watching and learning and purchased a cream that stimulates fat cells from inside the hair follicles. This is my current learning curve so just sharing everything. Regular micro needling is very effective too and we are considering using it. Definitely be careful about facial fat loss! I don't know enough but yes RF can cause it especially if the technician is not aware so finding someone who knows about it is important.

    What is Opus?

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  2 роки тому

      If you mean Opus Plasma, it's a fractionated resurfacing device that does not use laser light but micro plasma energy instead. It is a very superficial skin resurfacing treatment with additional radio frequency.

I am not in a place yet where I could hire someone for editing but if you want to go to my website and send me an email, I'll have your info for the future. Thank you.
