Skin Better Science is WAY overhyped. I never got results from the line and then my dermatologist told me the formulations are ver elegant & super basic. Made sense why I never got results. Alastin, in the other hand…EXCELLENT!
Thank you very much Dr. Marie. This was perhaps the most important video guide to skin care purchasing that I have watched. I am a neuropharmacologist researcher and very much appreciate your high quality videos. I will be placing my orders through your web site and will recommend your videos. Again, thank you for the excellent information.
This video was fantastic. Thank you for being so detailed. Unless you’re a professional or a skincare junkie, this sort of product and ingredient knowledge is very hard to come by. I appreciate you putting the most value on science and evidence in your videos rather than promoting a high end brand simply because it’s high end. Also love that you give accessible and affordable options. You’re very genuine!
I like the explanation of skin care ingredients. A lot of marketing of products are so deceiving and a lot of people are oblivious to this and need to learn effective ingredients versus useless ones. Good point about ingredient penetration to the dermis, where it really matters.
Thank you for this video. It’s so helpful and very informative. I spent a lot of money on Growth Factors and other products with great formulation. Now I have to think if I really need my growth factor if I’m also using these excellent products in my current routine.
Wow the part of HA makes so much sense. That’s prob why all the HA’s I’ve tried in the past have dried out my already dry skin like nothing before. They made me look older instead plump and hydrated. I might give that skin better science 👍🏼
I literally started binging on your channel because I started having insanely dehydrated skin. I use mainly IS Clinical and skin critical skin, Skinmedica products for a good two years can’t figure out what I did. I recently bought the new HA intensifier from Skin ceuticals and wasn’t aware I need to have wet skin when applying….I just put it on my face when you started saying it’s a waste of money and can cause dehydration 😳😳😳 dear lord it’s so expensive and I thought it was ideal for my skin during winter. Going to apply I hydrate sheet mask in the hopes of this helping to add more moisture.
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. If you've been dry since you added this product it may be the culprit! Sometimes you can get a refund, (just something to consider). I'm glad you like the channel, I appreciate it ☺️
I am glad you mention Curology 😊 I am using Curology for about 7 years and I am very happy with the Company my prescription is Tretinoin 0.14% Niacinamide 4% and Azelaic acid 5% . I receive the large bottle for almost $60 is supposed to last 3 months but last longer. What do you think about Timeless Vitamin C and their CoQ 10 have you had a chance to try them?
Just found your channel and its rich content ! Lucky to be here. While I'm more than happy splurging on skincare, it's hard for me to justify the price for Skinbetter alto defense. I am in search of other antioxidant cocktails on the market, and was wondering whether you have come across Regimen Lab's Vitamin X serum or NIOD's Survival 0 serum? :)
I have heard of them but have yet to try them. The Niod survival line has really stellar anti oxidants and looks like a fantastic antioxidant serum. It does not have vitamin C to the best of my knowledge but if your skin can tolerate ascorbic acid, you could add the Timeless 20% vitamin C serum, it's very reasonably priced, or the Maelove vitamin C serum. The Regimen labs also has really good antioxidants and a low pH of 3 which ascorbic acid needs. I'm not sure what the concentration of Vitamin c is though. I think both of these options are excellent alternatives to Alto 👍🏼
@Donate Iron I say go in on the Alto Defense! It is amazing. I'm a minimalist on skincare, but also have sensitive skin with a slew of other issues (PIH, pre-aging, large pores, mostly oily). I purchased the smaller one (2 pack-with the Alpharet Night cream) and I tell you, its the best of the best! I use it in the am-wash my face with IS Clinical cleanser, add Alto and Isdin SPF 55 sunscreen....boom, done! I can see the difference in my skin for sure.
The best skincare buying guide I have come across so far on UA-cam. I’m really interested in the brand Skinbetter Science and will be buying them through you. Would you be able to prescribe Prescription Retin-A thru maybe online consultation? Thanks for your great and knowledgeable videos.
Thank you! You are a few steps ahead of me! I am working on starting virtual consultations. DM me on Instagram or email via my website. As far as prescription tretinoin, I have to look into the details, but I can prescribe in California for sure. I do know that if you need a prescription you can get tretinoin from an online brand called Curology. (curology.com) They compound it individually and send it my mail.
Excellent video Dr. Marie! I love your content and your honesty. What high quality sunscreen you would recommend for combination/dry skin? Thank you for your hard work and excellent recommendations!
It really depends on what you are looking for. I think Colorescinece and Skin Better have the best sunscreens out there. You might want to see a video I did recently on the best sunscreen for your skin type. It depends on if you want a tint, a silicone feel and water resistance. But you really can't go wrong with those two brands ☺️
I'm not a fan. While I do love some skinceuticals products, this is not one of them. It does have many hydrating ingredients and silicones but also a high concentration of preservatives. Glycerin is also high in concentration and that is a great hydrator. Overall, it's a good moisturizer but nothing special.
I love ZO Retinols, I feel those are the best ones I've tried in all products that I've tried. Is Skinbetter Science as effective of ZO or better? I've never tried Skinbetter Science brand, I want to try but I'm so loyal to ZO brands lol
Great video doc! I have tried many vitamin C serum‘s to no avail. Even the SkinCeuticals brand. My skin cannot tolerate any kind of vitamin C. Is there anything you can think of that I should replace for antioxidant? I can tolerate retinol and AHA’s. I wanted vit C to help/prevent hyperpigmentation on my latin skin.
Wait, what are your thoughts on Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (THD)? I find it interesting how skinceuticals still has their very expensive vitamin c serum that has the potential of oxidizing in a dropper bottle 🤔
you know, I do too. I can NOT understand it! It is without a doubt the best vitamin C out of all the L ascorbic acids out there and they hold the patent so no-one can copy it. But they won't spend the money on better packaging! THD is great for stability and those with sensitive skin. The problem with THD is that there aren't any real good studies to show how effective it is in morphing into ascorbic acid once in the skin. We need more research!
Hello, I just started watching your videos. I want to start using the Skinbetter Alto defense advanced. I was thinking of replacing my vitamin c serum in the morning with the alto? Then I use my Finacea. Can I still use the Finacea after the Alto? I can’t wait to try it
I'm not sure if you are talking about the Alastin sunscreen but if so, you coulnd combine with an untainted sunscreen, although that doesn't usually give the best results.
@@nancydrake423 I have heard this from other fair skin people. Look into the Fair shade of Colorescience Flex. I wonder if that might be light enough for you ☺️
I don't know too much about Paul Lebreque products but they are not medical grade and I can not find any research or results info. I think its a spa brand.
True. If you are on a budget and want to add a glycolic acid to your routine you can easily find an inexpensive product to do the job. The difference with a medical grade skin care line like Zo is, you are paying for the additional ingeridients in the formulation. So for example the Accelerator has vit E, glycerin, squalene, allantoin, aloe and flower extracts to soothe skin, hydrate and minimize irritation. And that's a personal choice, but I really want people to know that they can get an AHA at a low price point that will be just as effective 😊
@@theocbeautymd okay, thank you for explaining that to me as this will help me decide. I buy growth factors once a year, I’ll have to find where to buy peptides. Should it be ZO or Vivier Pharma?💋

Love Alastin too♥️. It’s great for reactive skin and they have a super gentle retinol that doesn’t dry out the skin
💯🙌

Any insight into HA Immerse?
