Such a little known hypercar. I remember having a 1:16 model and poster on my wall as a teenager in the late 80s / early 90s, right between to my F40 and ginger lynn posters.
It's a SuperCar. HyperCar is a term used since the Veyron. And a true SuperCar, not just any sportscar being named that way lately. SuperCar is something like F40, XJ220 or Pagani. Cars like Huracàn or 720 McLaren are SuperSport, they lack the exclusivity of true SuperCar that EB110 represents.
You know, I could live there and take care of Jays collection every single day of my life. All I ask is to drive the vehicles when required. I’ll manage them, care for them and ensure they live on in the collection for ever. Jay Leno is a remarkable man, and he lives the life I could only dream of. Keep it up Jay. Love the show.

With absolute respect to Derek and his professional accomplishments, it seems as though people never realize who he is and the racing lineage he comes from being the son of Phil Hill. Perhaps because his career is not as celebrated as that of his dad's by some. Always enjoy listening to Derek recall his experience with these cars however, he speaks with an eloquence very reminiscent of his father.
@MonsieurHiroshima The factory Bugatti EB110 had 560hp. Considering the Jaguar XJ220 had 550 from an engine of the same displacement (and racing derived) it was decent but hardly revolutionary at the time.
Favorite car from childhood! There were so many great supercars in the 1990s! An Italian attempt to revive the famous Bugatti brand is worthy of respect!
It was an Italian attempt to bring back Bugatti to the country it belonged 90 years before .. Pity Artioli didn't open in Milan, Ettore Bugatti's hometown... ;)
I like the contrast of the EB110, to the moving commuter cars and the row of parked RV's (everytime I drive down that area, I get the feeling that the people living in those RV's are barely scraping by in LA).

28:38 Leno knows his stuff, Yamaha was also stuffing 5 valves per cylinder into engines of this era. Some even made it into Toyotas with the 20v 4A-GE (with Yamaha designing the head)
This and the LFA have always seemed very similar to me. Both have strange, somewhat understated yet outlandish designs! I never liked either of them when I first saw them but they grew on me to the point where I absolutely love their designs. They both also seem to be underrated by super car lovers
Hi Jay, I sat in a brand new EB110 in a warehouse in Lawrenceville, GA which belonged to Lotus USA. I was friends with the parts manager for Lotus and he called me when it arrived. Would have taken it for a drive but it was blocked in by 40 or so new Lotus Esprit's. The entire US allotment in one place. :) Love your videos, thank you for putting the effort into creating this content.
I recall watching one of the many “car shows” which aired on their respective channels back when the EB110 came out. As a 19 year old young man back then, I immediately fell in love with this car. I recall using it as motivation to “succeed”. Many years later and I still absolutely love this car...and I’m still approximately a million short on buying one. Not all dreams have to come true for them to have motivated. This car is timeless and so are my dreams.

I actually met the owner of this car at the la outo show and the car looks so much better than on video.The owner of this car is very Wise and respectful and did not want me to show his face and I do respect that and did not I was the first person to take a picture with the doors up I think at the show and I had a good time and I hope that I am able to see it again but next time being able to drive Thanks to the owner

Great video as always, great to hear Jay and Derek Bell properly 'talking cars', but interesting they seldom referred to the McLaren F1, a contemporary. And interesting that Jay's more recent videos don't have Jay showing us the controls, or details of him going through the starting procedure of the engine anymore. But we're just so fortunate to have these videos - we are not complaining! Many thanks.

I used to not know how to feel about the looks of this car back in the day. but as time has gone on, it’s gotten better and better looking. I’m actually in the market to buy one of these as soon as I can find one... in 1/64th scale.

After the team won its class (on a Porsche 962) in Le Mans, Porsche allowed him to build a (detuned) 600hp street version based on that car. In the same year, Dauer bought the Bugatti leftovers and upgraded the cars as shown in this clip. The later models did not have the Bugatti badge because by then Volkswagen aquired the naming rights. He made huge losses with all ventures and went bankrupt. Several years later, he was sentenced to three years for tax evasion.
I love when jay says- 4 turbos No Waiting! I remember seeing one in a book of exotic cars in the 90s in French blue.. From then on I was in love!! still such an amazing car today and for Very Many Years to come!
Theres a documentary about EB110 somewhere on youtube, the main thing that killed this car was Ferrari, Bugatti and Ferarri had a few of the same parts suppliers, Ferrari threatened to pull their contracts if they didnt stop making parts for Bugatti. It was really heart breaking seeing these former Bugatti employees talk about it and how upset they still are, there was so much passion that went into building these cars.
I have been waiting this for so long... Only Dauer 962LM left to go. There is company called Auto Bionics LTD in UK restoring one. Hoping Jay contacts them when it's restored.
Thank you Derek and Jay for showing us this art + engineering masterpiece on wheels. Can't imaging how many hours of design, engineering and fabrication to build that car. The carbon fiber and engine are a joy to look at.
That car just needed recognition, its still an unknown car for a lot of people but its nice that Bugatti just did a Chiron with this inspiration, I believe that is the most beautiful of the new special editions.
Need to bring back Derek again for a more proper test drive to open this thing up on swisty roads and last freeways😀 also, Derek seems very humble and down to earth and would love to hear more stories about his racing and family ties to it😀

I saw exact this car live, with another EB 110 in Blue, between 1999 abd 2001 in Nuremberg/Germany, at the Parking lot from the Grand Hotel. The Dauer Company (by Jochen Dauer) was in Nuremberg, thats why you could see a EB 110 from time to time. A few weeks ago i saw another Blue one in a Showroom of a small Car Dealer in Roth, near Nuremberg, together with some Isdera, SL 300 Gullwing and another very special Cars. A absolute Dreamcar

It's true, with just a few cosmetic tweaks this car would fit right in with modern day super/hyper cars. Mainly just the headlights/taillights.

The turbo lag is embarrassing, a pushbike could overtake you while you ars waiting for something to happen.
Lee Van Cleefe just replace the old turbos with modern day rollable bearing turbo is then a good set up on a rolling road problem solved 👍

I’m on the other side of this discussion. I would rather hear them talk about how it’s built and how it differs from the “standard” model. All cars drive. I want to know the minutiae why this car is special.

l can't believe l did not appreciate these cars when they first came out.... they are so beautiful now, way better interpretation of a modern day Bugatti than the veyron or chiron. Derek... what a great guest. He reminds me of his father, so knowledgeable and so self effacing.

I saw exact this car live, with another EB 110 in Blue, between 1999 abd 2001 in Nuremberg/Germany, at the Parking lot from the Grand Hotel. The Dauer Company (by Jochen Dauer) was in Nuremberg, thats why you could see a
EB 110 from time to time. A few weeks ago i saw another Blue one in a Showroom of a small Car Dealer in Roth, near Nuremberg, together with some Isdera, SL 300 Gullwing and another very special Cars. A absolute Dreamcar
