There’s a company in Vancouver Washington state that will make custom tent poles for people. I wanted to have a tent that I could pack easier into bicycle panniers but the individual tent pole sections measured 19” long which were too long but a 14 1/2” would work. I still have the same overall length of pole as before but now more 14.5” sections instead of 19” sections. The company can provide different end’s for the type of fitting you need on a tent fly also, can also do different colours. They are called Tent Pole Technologies check them out, they do great work.
I broke a pole section of 18.5mm alloy pole and was unable to replace the pole. Inspired by your video ,I sourced a replacement section that was too long and cut it down to size and used it to repair the pole. Happy with the result
@@BackPackHack my little rigid one has a deburring tip built in as do all of them plus it cuts perfectly straight. I use it every day at work cutting tubing.

Thanks excellent video there is a happy tent in Scotland now.
amazon, $20. I just found poles for a 20 year old tent, found the perfect size. You can use a tubing cutter too. Good video though, thanks.
A tubing cutter will create a very large, sharp burr all the way around the inside. It's much more work to eliminate that.
