I love the way you have sketched a beautiful bright and cheerful sketch on a day which seems to be very grey and dull. I will also remember that it’s ok to make changes to a scene when you are sketching outside. That hadn’t really occurred to me! Your canal boat is great and fits in really well with the rest of your sketch. I would love to see your other sketch. Thanks Toby.
I agree! I love bridges and rivers. This one has a lot of history and the chapel in the middle has had various uses in it's time, even once as a 'bawdy house'.
I know what you mean about worrying that you’ve made a mess of your sketch then suddenly it’s all ok again. The watercolour paint makes such a lovely difference. I’m not good at sketching that loose, more practice needed. Your sketch is so happy looking. ☺️
Another fab video. So interesting to see how the paper affects the outcome - another great result. Thanks for sharing. I definitely want to see the café sketch.
Wonderful sketch. As always, I love your balance of color and negative space. I really like how you DIDN’T put color on the 2 main buildings/focal points. Please do share your other sketch!
Your minimalist urban sketching kit looks great as does your sketching. HOWEVER I’ve just spent the morning researching my Christmas present - a backpack that will fit as much kit in as I can squeeze🙈 There’s some smashing camera bags with pags of compartments out there ….. Maybe this is a separate hobby!!
Wonderful! And thank you for saying it’s ok to have wonky perspective in a sketch. I find it soooo boring to try to have correct perspective that I have shied away from doing outdoor scenes. Not anymore! If you can change the course and width of a river, I feel ok drawing slanted buildings and imaginary coastlines. Thank you!
Think that's "Ouse" - lol - thanks for making these videos as I am trying to get back into art. I used to do precise detailed things and really don't like that style and want to produce a looser calmer style of work, just for my own benefit, relaxation etc.

Such a gentle tutor without ego 😊
Always so inspiring and calming to see you draw and listen to your thought process. I find it very freeing, so thank you!
Please do share your other sketch, always so interesting and love seeing other places.

The controller in me must admit to being a tad squirmy with the initial sketch 🤣 but goodness me it looks great. Really made me smile.
Wish that I can also travel beautiful places and sketch with minimal kits.
Beautiful! SO relaxing to watch. Looking forward to Bath, I really want to get the guts to go straight in with pen and get quicker and looser… L
Beautiful work, as always in my opinion :) Also, I would love to see that other sketch as well. Thanks again!👌
On it's way :)

Hi Toby. I enjoyed watching. Is it easier to sketch on a cloudy day? Or is it better to have the sun and all of the shadows etc.? Have a good week. 😊
I always struggle with which bits…. NOT to paint… sometimes I don’t paint so I don’t ruin my sketch 😂
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
