Hey you do not have to remove the dash board to replace the clutch master cylinder, and its not an issue if the connecting rod is corroded as it is an external part.

In this case the brake master cylinder had to be replaced and then the dimensions for the metal line to the clutch master changed as well. Fortunately all has been working well with both. Calipers at the front were changed and also drum cylinders. The clutch slave was replaced as well.

Well it turns out that there is another much slower leak. Since the clutch master cylinder was replaced, any further leak could be the clutch slave cylinder at the rear underneath of the vehicle. It being dry enough to get underneath and check, the slave cylinder is also leaking, if only slightly. A replacement has been ordered, from the wholesale supplier in the east. Video has been taken, with more clips once it arrives, to show the process.

We made a few of America's Volvos Great Again! RobertDIY has a great channel focusing on these durable, economical cars. Two of these were abandoned as unfixable by other mechanics, but they just didn't know what they were doing.

@@vanstechcorral yes I have talked to Robert in the past. Very nice guy. He’s the king of YT Volvo Repair videos! Back when the timing belt on my 2000 v70 wagon slipped off and bent all 20 valves it was one of his videos that inspired me to pull the head and reinstall it myself. I have since put another 75k miles on that car.

@@fiveable I have to admit I am no fan of interference engines timed by rubber bands. Every Subaru owner I've personally known has lost an engine to them, even one recently changed by a dealer. It's why I'm still on the waterboxer, which was only $100 three years ago because he was installing a Subaru. His conversion's still not in!
