For me, FPV is a kind of meditation. I fly FPV drones to momentarily forget about the everyday routine. Building drones is as enjoyable for me as flying them. I'm not concerned about whether it's a current trend or not. I don't care if FPV drone footage is used in film or television productions. For me, it's simply a hobby, a way to spend my free time.

agreed.... it's therapeutic for me. I have no intentions of making it "big" in FPV, or becoming some professional drone pilot(though completing the part 107 interests me), I just love having something to take my mind away from all the bs. It's much healthier than video gaming, which it has fully replaced in my life.

I think vast majority of purchasers are same (include in this group - flying for excitement) I dont know real numbers but those who fly to make and sell footage that is professional has to be less than 10% especially when consider FPV racing also has a large following

I am a C7 quadriplegic. I fly FPV because I'm not disabled when I'm on the sticks, under the goggles. So its never gunna die for me :P Currently at 13 custom builds atm with plans for 6 more next year. Then I want to get into racing, for some extra adrenaline. But at the end of the day, for me, Freestyle is where its at. You don't need a reason to film. Just go fly and do tricks. Hit gaps. Fast proximity flying. Get that blood pumping. Ugh. Unmatched feeling! :)

Though I'm not quadriplegic, It's therapeutic for me as well.. sometimes just going for a drive can clear your head, imagine going for a flight... That's why i fly, I could care less about trends. Love ur comment, keep flying!

I agree with you 100%! I love the feeling it gives me when I'm flying and the problem solving of building them and making them fly smooth. The video recording is cool but not the reason I love to fly.. It will never die for me either.. Been flying RC since age 12, I'm 46 now and still cant get enough of it!

The Trend of "Getting cool FPV shots" is in my opinion dying off.

I don't think so. Filmmakers are barely scratching the surface and fpv footage is becoming industry standard in filmmaking and commercial products. Just like helicopters and then DJI... its easily accessible and cheaper then those alternatives. not to mention has ability to be cinematic AND action focused. it's more diverse in application and the market of products being designed and put out around it is staggering. @@PeterLindgren1

I agree on the usability of the footage and the hassle of maintaing FPV drones. But it is a great hobby to fly tinywhoops/micro drones just for fun and then get some insane drone clips here and there. I started FPV to get cool videos and still do it because flying is so much fun :)
Great thoughts Peter! I love playing around with my little Emax just for fun while I keep the dji one for client work. It's true that fpv shots are quite hard to add into a sequence unless you're doing some sort of action scene
I still prefer the FPV drones, because they are customizable and spare parts are easy to find. Unlike the DJIs, after 6 six years later, their spare parts are hardly to find and if you could find one, they are very expensive.

I'm relatively new to the hobby, but from my perspective it has a place in the wider world. It flows quite well in high action environments, traditional drones just simply work better for establishing shots, but if you're already in a high action scene FPV can flow quite smoothly. It just depends on the pacing of your video and the other shots around it. I think it's a fair criticism that it's probably gone a little overboard, so my guess is over the next 5 years or so we'll see it tastefully (for the most part) sprinkled in projects, just like every other form of media.
I started with an Avata shortly after it came out and then moved over to BaF cinewhoop and a 6" for longer missions 3 months ago. I shoot lines mountain surfing, skiing, etc. so I could care less about overdone youtube trends like split S intros to a driving car. It is crazy fun to just go out and figure out really cool circuits and lines to fly that could never be captured with a regular drone. Agreed that it has also made me a wildly better regular drone pilot that is much more comfortable around obstacles and able to incorporate much more complex flight patterns. It does have a steep learning curve and you will crash. Certainly requires more effort to build, fix and maintain than a regular drone. If you've ever thought what would it be like to proximity fly with a wingsuit, here is your chance to do so with none of the risk. From a cinematography point of view, it is like anything else, FPV is simply one tool for story telling and it is insufficient on it's own to tell a good story as is any other one dimensional story telling technique.
The learning curve gets you!! All the the "camera drones" you take 5 mins and you are in the air. FPV drones like you said you will spend hrs on hrs in the simulator and hrs on hrs learning how to fly. Then hrs on hrs learning how to get that perfect shot! Plus with all the camera drone features you can just set up to do pans, or follow me.. there's a dozen different ready to fly just you just press the button and done.
I wouldn't describe FPV as a trend but rather a niche in the world of videography. What I really agree on is the difficulty of integrating FPV footage into a video together with "normal" drones or DSLR cameras... maybe an idea for a future video?
I think maybe the FPV-hype among us Creators has reached its peak, but not FPV Shots as a service. Many Businesses and Locations like Hotels etc. are open for these kind of content projects to tell their visual story on their website/social media. It even reaches a new level of complexity, if you set up a staged FPV oneshot with actors etc.
But as always, just choose the right tool for your needs. No need to force FPV into every aspect of my content creation.

truth, back in the day they used to have to hire a helicopter pilot to fly a camera man around, now its drones and FPV.
Interesting perspectives. My thoughts with fpv is the wow factor is fading. People used to be wowed and amazed when they saw fpv footage when it was new and fresh. Nowadays, most people have seen all the unique shots that fpv has to offer, so it has become a more normal and regular type of shot. Not to mention all the rules and regulations the FAA has been killing the drone hobby for years and does not look like they are going to be stopping that anytime soon. Great video.

Crazy that you uploaded this today, I just filmed a whole video yesterday about the same topic. I am going to get rid of all my custom FPV quads, lipo’s, RC’s, FCs, ESCs, etc. All that crap we need to have to fly a custom built FPV drone. Why? Because flying the DJI FPV with a GoPro and/or the DJI Avata works well enough for me. Also, I live in NYC….. it’s so risky and hard to fly custom drones without that amazing failsafe feature of DJI products. Lastly, I want to poop my pants each time I fly, risky flight, not knowing if my quad is just going to disconnect and drop from the sky.
only started about 2-3 years ago but one thing I can say for sure, FPV is not a trend. It's in sports (drone racing), industrial applications (surveys and inspection), videography (duh) and purely as a hobby. for someone who has never built a drone from scratch and doesn't know how the components work, I don't think it's a good idea to bash FPV simply because you found limits you won't accept or can't get over. 04:38 - "I purchased a drone that wasn't compatible with my remote" - you could have checked if the receiver on the drone matched the transmitter on the controller and just select the right one. Or, just change the receiver on the drone, it's literally de-soldering and re-soldering 4 wires. Even if you want something to work out of the box, make sure you watch some tutorials before deciding what to buy.
Peter, may I suggest that FPV might be a fad for videographers but it s a growing technology for inspection, Search and Rescue, Public Safety and of course continues to grow in popularity in FPV racing. I lead FPV Freedom Coalition and Flite Test. DaveM

I thought that this video was great!...It was very entertaining, well thought out and very accurate....Great Job!!!......However, you left out an extremely important aspect of FPV that people need to be aware of ....and that is the difference in batteries and more importantly battery care...The typical DJI batteries are fairly idiot proof and fairly safe - but - when it comes to bare LIPO batteries, YOU BETTER LEARN BATTERY SAFETY...AND QUICKLY!!!...I feel that when discussing FPV, battery safety should be the very first topic of discussion!!!...again, I loved the video.
Great video! I agree the hype from FPV has died down but the feeling you get from getting that perfect line on an FPV drone is simply unmatched.

Client wants shallow Depth of field- buy fast primes. Trend goes away - sell primes cheap- go back to f2.8 zooms.
Client wants epic moves, Buy gimbal- client now wants controlled hand held look because it feels more "there" Sell gimbal cheap.
Rig out your camera so you can flex like everyone else - realise that you are sick of everything being clunky and losing monitor connections and screws coming loose.. minimal set ups are now in fashion - sell Vlock batteries, rigs, monitors
Clients asking for FPV shots - Buy Fpv drone, learn it - trend gone. Sell FPV set up.
Clients asking for vertical video - .. do you see the pattern? - vertical video is going away!! hooray!
I think you’re spot on, it has peaked as a «new and exciting» thing, just like cinematic b-roll did, and have now turned into a comodity that «anyone» can buy, either for themselves or as a service from someone else, and novelty of swooping dives down mountains has worn off - the interesting thing though is what comes next … right now I can’t really see any new tech on the horizon, or camera technique/filming technique that might «replace it» in the creative space - it feels like we are now at the bottom of the curve, where things get better and cheaper and only improving in small increments while waiting for the curve to turn upwards again for innovation and new experiences. AI might be it, but at the same time it might wear off faster than we think. Film-photography might make a comeback, but it’s not *new*, just new to younger people. Excited to see what the next big thing will be though, my guess is we’ll see it here first ;)
I've just bought the avata to start with :) I don't really care about the trends but I agree it is probably fading . I think it is fun plus I can use it for some of my paid work :) Great video tho Pete🙌
Lots of great points......I still suck at FPV. Still in the SIM. One day I will get it. Mainly doing it for fun. Very expensive hobby for sure. My regular drone makes me more money for sure. No one really wants FPV. Great video as always!

FPV is expensive for me to get into as of now, but I will buy a Radio Controller soon to get started so I can practice in simulator first then someday hopefully I will build an FPV drone.

interesting point of view. FPV seems to be fizzling out as a trend. Only thing that carried it through COVID was DJI coming into the FPV space and bringing an influx of people with it. It is a fun hobby and fun to fly around. But as a UA-cam trend, I agree with your point of view.
I have 10+ 3 inch to 7 inch FPV quads mostly BNF. I also bought the DJI FPV drone which has 4 k 120fps and 2 axis gimbal. I can get very similar results especially in post as a GOPro on a 5 inch. DJI FPV (potato) also has 11+ mile range and can reach ~90 mph. I dont fly it in the same roles as a normal 5 inch or 7 inch with a GoPro such as on flights requiring less cinematic output and more acrobatic/aerobatic flippies etc and/or flight/role where there is a higher chance of a crash. There are however plenty of quad roles/flights that need to give cinematic video output and at same time you may need much more speed and maneuverability than a DJI Mavic etc. In these kinds of flights, the DJI FPV drone hits that spot very well - including mountain dives. The price on DJI FPV reconditioned or renewed has come way down. Often when a noob crashes the DJI fpv drone on their 2nd flight the drone is completely dismantled / mangled These noobs decide FPV is not for them and engages replacement drone option of DJI subscription. ~ 90 percent of these replacements are BN drones that can be bought for $300-400 on eBay. The goggles for the V2 are down to $300 similarly. So it can be pretty cost effective option if not flying it like a Steele wannabe
I think the problem FPV has the most is the dominant voices only care about Flippy floppy freestyle.
Cinematic flying is its own monster and greatly underappreciated
I downloaded a DJI Virtual Flight on my phone few days ago. Played with a normal and sport mode, everything with on-screen controls - that was fun. But changing to manual and learning everything from scratch, trying tricks and playing around… made me look for a FPV controller, to train and later build a drone by myself. Trend or not, it’s fun! And that’s what matters.
I promise you that the DJI sim absolutely sucks and doesn’t feel right or real. My friend who is a DJI guy got an Avata and he also thinks the DJI sim is off. FPV.skydive is much better on phones. Uncrashed is good for desktop

You described perfectly the best reason to do FPV. The focus and excitement of being in the moment flying thru tight gaps closer and closer.

That's why DJI made the Avata. It bridges the gap between mavic style drones and traditional FPV drones. It's also why Dji made the motion controllers. Now literally anybody can fly FPV.
I just got a MP4 and I’m looking into FPV. I really enjoyed this video and your perspective. I’m drawn to FPV a little bit but at the same time I’m a cave diver with a cave diver channel 🤣 so drone footage isn’t really a huge deal for me. At the same time I do like how you touched on the footage, how it can be used, limitations, etc. Really great stuff, thank you for putting this together.

What you are describing while flying your FPV is called being in the flow. There's a great book from author Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi called "Flow" the psychology of optimal experience. This book explores a state of mind when in Flow, the feeling of complete engagement in a creative or playful activity.
There is even a movie about FPV-flying called "Flow State".

I typically use gps camera drones for b-roll and FPV for main content. GPS is great for establishing shots, but FPV captures the action. I gotta disagree on price tho...entry level gps is $1000, entry level fpv is $300. My fpv batteries for $20 a pop, the DJI batteries are $130-170...if i crash my fpv it might cost $3 for props or $25 for a motor,and I can fix them in 5-10 minutes, in the field. My Fpv frame has a lifetime replacement warranty,...DJI charges hundreds for Aftercare warranty, and more for repairs and replacements.
I'm different. I started working on drones because of work. Now, I am researching to see if it's fun.

I have just gotten into drones and recently bought a Mini 4 Pro. FPV is one of the areas that has really piqued my interest. The other day I watched a video review of the Cetus X and immediately thought that having something like that to fly and crash without breaking it every time might help immensely in developing my pilot skills. Haven't bought one yet but I'm seriously considering it.

I have always been a photography. I have never made it my profession. I never wanted to have people demand things I could not deliver. I have started with a Mini 3 pro that became boring the moment I mastered the limites of its capabilities and with the release of the Avata. I have not stayed for the b-roll and production values drones can provide but for the fun they deliver. The community of enthusiasts and the incredible amount of nature and action shots I can watch at while also analyzing some other peoples flying skills and line choices. It has just become such a fun and recreational thing to me to go out and get an aerial shot and some manvouvers. I will not hurt myself nor will I put myself into any danger like I used to do in my 20s and 30s. FPV is pure fun and enjoyment.
As a Ukrainian, I can say - take fpv as much as you can 👀

@@TheCivildecay seems both sides are using FPV in a combat role. This is partially what is driving fear in the US and pushing the regulations. They are worried about Hamas style attacks here in the US homeland from FPV jihadis. Let one of those guys fly an EID into a large gathering and the whole hobby gets shut down.
FPV is awesome it's like anything not for everyone, but it open up the world to a different eye. Also allow you to go on adventure to find new location. I went to so many place this summer that i would never went before.

Interesting video Peter. I think maybe you feel that way because being a UA-camr, you need to get clicks, subs and likes just like all of the other UA-camrs. I'm interested in getting an FPV drone because it seems like a lot of fun. I have a 107 and have owned several Mavic drones and after awhile they do get boring to fly and you just want to get the shot and leave. Once I get good at FPV then I'll be able to fly both and that should be fun.

A fellow Lindgren... didn't expect to find one of us on my curiosity dive into FPV. I'm debating going the drone or RC car route. if anyone has experience in both id be interested to hear your opinion. I'm interested purely as a hobbyist. Which is more fun?
I’m on the fence with this, mostly due to cost. I could spend $300 on a Cetus X to begin but I know that if I get hooked a lot of money is gonna go into this hobby. Money I don’t have, so it’ll be frustrating. Optionally, I could get a DJI mini 2 with the Fly More pack for 500 and it’ll last me a long time for personal use. But it won’t be as exciting. What a dilemma.
I just bought someone's collection for a deal. I got 4 5in and a 175mm and a tinyhawk and it came with 4 sets of goggles and 3 controllers. First time flying i lost one. I looked for hours out in the fields and nothin. Ive been on the simulator practicing before i fly again.
First shots in movies does not always work, but you do not see that either. Sports are probably the best use for FPV and cinematic ( which is what you do. No disrespect you fly great) FPV to me is racing or freestyle. It is certainly a very involved hobby. It is a passion for flying, the hobby, and the community. I think purchases and hoe much people are flying is because of the current prices. There has been a big movement towards Open Source parts and electronics. This will help with compatibility, cost, and hopefully simplify things. Today in FPV there are updates, firmware, software, electronics, and on and on, radios goggles, tools, supplies. Oh yeah time. STOP CALLING IT A TREND!!. Maybe FPV for cinematic stuff is dying but I see it in all the sports I watch, and a crap load of commercials were it is great. Did you consider it is not the quad but the type of you film with it. There seems to be a lot of business out there. With your investment in equipment it's worth a look. Spread your wings man, spread them. Screw the movies fly that thing for you not anyone else.🐥

I think you are missing something about the trend: the price was going down and down as components were getting more common (flight controllers and analog gear). queue some political issues that put tarrifs on imports from china and drove up costs (for some countries), which killed a lot of small companies and middle man distributors. Then the digital systems came in that drove up pricing for components, but also weren't (at the time) usable in races.
COVID also killed several local racing leagues (my own included).
So the barrier to entry went up (cost), the systems we've used for years and years that were tried and true are harder to get.. so the years we've invested in tech and building and setups is sunk cost; do we want to invest again and start over with new systems and new hardware? nope. do we want to race as fast as possible with even more expensive/harder to repair digital systems ? (not me, personally nope).
Is it still as incredible as ever to get out and fly and feel free and push your limits? heck yes. but I don't fly for other people or because it's a trend. I fly for my sanity and stress relief.
Ive been flying FPV since 2014. The hype train has definitely slowed down since then but its still a very exhilarating hobby! #NEVERSTOPFLYING 👊🏻

I think the "trend" was everyone trying to get into it because the avata came around with decent onboard camera and was simple to setup. FPV should definitely be approached as a hobby first, before diving the rest of the way in, because like you said in the video, it gets reallllll expensive real quick. BUT there are definitely much more affordable ways to try out FPV instead of shelling out for an avata or bigger bind and fly quads, I mean you woulndn't go out and buy and ARRI or RED if you were just "trying out" cinematography ;)
That being said, FPV has an amazing community and resources so I definitely think anyone who is interested should check it out
I`ve flown trainers, I`ve flown sports and acro planes, I`ve flown gliders and motorized gliders, I`ve flown heli`s, a nitro fuel tank, and a plank and I`ve flown one of my rc cars. (didn`t end well)
Then FPV became a thing and now I fly quads, and I`ll probably keep going untli I can`t fly anymore (:
Although my next couple of projects are an ultralight fixed wing and a boat, quads will also be on the agenda 😎
Camera drones and FPV quadcopters are in my bag. My Parrot ANAFI captures shots that would be impossible for me to do in FPV and vice versa.
I really dont see this to be the case, i think perhaps youre seeing the drop off post pandemic but overall we are seeing the biggest names in film getting in to using FPV in the biggest films. This has a MAJOR impact. Sales are obviously wayyyyyy up for a specific reason... but even with the awful nature of this reason it does expose more and more people to fpv around the world
I don't care about bit how currently "hip" or popular it is, but I completely agree that people need to know it's a huge time and monetary commitment.

Sometimes its not about content creation but more about just having fun. FPV doesn't have to be about getting the best video. Go out and just fly around have fun that is true, FPV taught me how to fly a drone I take my mavic super close to objects and its also boring lol
FPV footage is great when it has a reason for being in a video, it needs to be motivated and used to enhance a story, not just thrown in as a gimmick, the same with any other camera technique and tool really.
Funny, I consider a homebuilt quadcopter as a REAL drone. The "Mavic" type drones I call tripods that you can push around the sky. Don't get me wrong, I own as use both. But real flying = real drone. You've got some great footage!

i luckely have ONE, were i can fly and no one wil bother me for long, cops also dont seeem to even bother to drive to the place.
i dont think it wil die, people have to be lucky with open spots and be creative with the shots and choise of music
its also sad that people that could be good, are held back by the cost of losing a drone or 2 and quit
I definitely can see the majority losing interest because of the complexity but to someone like me there's endless possibilities. Granted I know micro boards, and programming software but even without all that, simple tinkering (replacing parts or easy upgrades) and just flying it is all it takes. Helps I already have a passion for flying as well but overall a boom industry, just not as widely populated as imagined.
todays fpvflyers has an huge advantage when i started 10+ years ago there where no simulators and when the first drone showed up i the simulators it was far far away from flying a real one. the amount of money spent on drones that flew 5 min was huge
I fly fpv because it gives a sense of achievement. And when you tell people that you're an FPV pilot, they'll go wow! And of course it's for different purpose to flying a dji camera drone. I use them to get higher more cinematic shots. FPV for dramatic low to the ground shots. Once you have the skill, you'll never lose it after you gain muscle memory. It's like learning to ride a bicycle. The skill stays with you for life. I'm not worrying about trends.
Exactly, it is a true skill, therefore there will always be value in it. Not everyone can be an fvp pilot, unlike camera pilots. Camera drone pilots who see fvp for the first time think it must be simple to do, until they first try flying in manual/acro then their perspective changes and their respect level towards the fvp pilot skyrockets! ..They realize they are watching someone at work with their craft(art), obtaining mastery, something piloting camera drones don't provide, not to such a high degree. There is true skill involved with flying fvp thus you need some sort of passion in order to learn and master, like all true skills. You got to really want it to keep going crash after crash in a simulator for hours that amounts to days, even weeks before being able to fly for more than 10 seconds. I had 30 hours logged in liftoff sim and 6 hours in Dji sim before everything clicked. Still remember the moment, it was empowering.

I think it's a trend for people who aren't really into getting in the weeds building, repairing and tuning. I think for the most part, those aren't enthusiasts and will most likely consider it a "trend" and get out as soon as the people around them stop flying after they have broken their quad and can't repair it.

Regulation is hard in Germany for FPV drones. You are not allowed to fly alone with goggles on. There is always a spotter necessary with clear line of sight. Bummer. I will start with the Mini 4 Pro it seems to get the hang of it.
That rule is applicable in most countries. It's just that most pilots ignore that rule

@@Tepnox Regulators have no time, resources, or authority to come after rule breakers. It's only when something goes terribly wrong that people can get busted in the aftermath. I.e. when damage has already been done.
no FPV pilot follows that rule and no cop regulates it :) same goes with maximum speed limits or 250gram weight limit.
Cops have much more important stuff to do, and most of them have no idea what the rules are anyway.
As FPV pilot you just need to not draw too much attention (so don't go chasing little kids at the local playground or powerloop through all your neighbours gardens) and you will be just fine.
An FPV drone is definitely more REAL than any other drone in terms of being a hobby and flying just for fun! I never heard anyone telling "Flying a Mavic is my passion".
FPV just looks way better. They are the future. Smooth fast shots are way cooler than slow movie scenes.
FPV vs AI automated Drones is like Phone vs Computer.
Everyone is upgrading to devices with high refresh rate (Phones/Tablets/Monitors). FPV creates a whole new creative potential for film making.
Thank you for your useful information, but please try referring to those drones as Camera/ Cinema Drones as thats what they are. If a stigma is placed around fpv that they are not "real drones" then it makes it harder for people to understand the difference that are not inside of the hobby. There are plenty of different types of aircraft from fixed wings, rotary wings, and gliders, but they are all "Real Aircraft".
And ANYONE can learn to fly FPV if they are willing to practice. I highly suggest everyone try to learn FPV. The freedom it brings is undescribable and the action shot capabilities far out surpass anything that a automated Cinema drone can do.
Don't get me wrong, cinema drones have a place. As a professional pilot and Drone Racer I have an DJI Air 3 along with multiple fpv Race, Freestyle, and long range drones, you just need to know when to use which tool at your disposal

@@PeterLindgren1 I didn't say anybody could be a professional pilot, but fpv is not impossible to learn and have fun with at a recreational level. Anyone can play a game but it doesn't necessarily mean they have to be a professional to enjoy it
I understand, but it's hard to invest your time in to something if there's no end goal. A hobby is great, but i've seen a LOT of people start FPV only to stop because it's not cool anymore lol.

From the perspective of a film maker, you missed the value of fpv that will only make fpv fade from favortism of the unskilled. The small cinnewhoop that you started with or something similar allows a film maker to achieve the same sort of shots that can only be done with far far more expensive camera rigs. Personally i can fly that slow, ducted drone in circles around a subject, indoors or outside, replacing rails, dollies, booms. $2000 fpv > $50000 camera boom. Power to the little guys. Skillz/bills

I don't think I'd say the trend is dying so much as the barrier to entry keeps climbing (at least here in the USA) as the restrictions keep expanding exponentially. Currently, you can pretty much only legally get footage of empty public land. That is because of the restrictions about flying over, around, or near, populated areas, roads, buildings etc etc etc. So while the trend may be "dying" I don't think it's a result of a lack of effort or just the life cycle of the footage style. I for one would love to use some FPV/Drone footage in my videos but the cost vs actual use with limitations just doesn't make any sense to pursue!
with tools like the DJI Avata and DJI FPV drone, the barrier to entry is almost removed.
Im in the US. Ive been an fpv pilot for 3yrs, & i assure you can fly where ever you want wherever you want ive flown in all kinds of different states from south FL, ATL, TN, Virginia, Alabama,NC etc. never been bothered by authorities never been fined or anything of the sort I’ve flown at races car races, motorcross races, concerts etc. i just do it. There is no regulation on this hobby/sport at all no remote id. Even if there was I wouldn’t and never will use it. You have to ignore all that shit. As long as u aren’t hurting someone or damaging cars & shit then there’s nothing to worry about. Hell ive even flown at Demo tnt blast sights. Never had any issues man there really is no regulations. But sure if you dont wanna have flying fun i guess listen to what our no good bullshit gov. Wants lol thats definitely not who i am. Im an American but I don’t get vaccines,but i do own guns & drones & i live freely fuc U.S. gov. 🎉🎉🎉
Your main point is that FPV will not growth due to the barriers to entry. This would make sense if these barriers are increasing. But barriers are actually decreasing since producs are slowly maturing. So if there was an x% of population entering FPV each month while compatability of products was much worse, we can only assume this % will increase as fpv becomes more user friendly.
It's more about the hours you need to spend to fly that people don't want to put in.

I also find the argument about following trends to be quite weak. You don’t have to be the best to enjoy the hobby; it’s just fun to fly. Moreover, tinkering with parts and building and flying different drones is enjoyable.
Additionally, the argument that FPV is expensive and you can get a good camera drone for the same money - yes, FPV can be costly, but the parts you showed in the video are the most expensive ones available. Overall, it probably adds up to around €2000, but that’s for top-of-the-line equipment. The DJI Mavic 3 Pro costs more.
A lot of people don’t care about building drones, myself included. We just want to bind and fly

depends on whyyou're flying FPV, it's a trend if you're doing it "for the gram" or for tiktok or videography. If it's a hobby you're taking on for the thrill/skill of flight, FPV is probably the better bang for your buck. Right!?
trend or not doesnt really matter, for me i got into a really bad motorcycle accident when i was 17 and almost died, still ride after i recovered but i needed something safer that gave me that adrenaline, and let me tell you after flying for 4-5 months now, i am now able to balance my adrenaline hunger safely, due to my accident i would wake up and be extremely anxious till i went to go do 170mph i felt like nothing not thinking about anything but me and the bike, now i dont think about anything but me and the drone and day dream about little spots im at when im not flying… fpv for me really made life feel alot less anxious and i feel like its an amazing hobby for people whos brains move a little too fast and a need a little extra work todo to stay calm !!!!

Well I just fly fpv because of the fun of it 😂 and yeh nothing makes me fell as present and focused on the moment as fpv does!

I think people are trying to hard to make FPV drones a professional tool and way of making money.
Maybe FPV should just be seen as skydiving, motorcross, BMX, skateboarding etc.... you can attach a cam to it and it will look great on social media, but if you want generic (but pleasing) B-roll shots that the general audience can use/enjoy, just use a regular camera drone.
