- Watch this New York old brick building collapse in a 3D earthquake simulation!
This incredible 3D simulation shows how older buildings may not withstand significant seismic activity. Learn about the importance of building safety and retrofitting as we observe the dramatic collapse. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more interesting videos on engineering and earthquake safety!

I hope my simulations will educate the general public about potential earthquake related hazards and create more curiosity about Earth Science in general. I do also hope that my videos will inspire a future generation of amazing architects, engineers and scientists! We all need to peacefully work together to make this world a better place. :)
My goal is to show people around the world the effects of different earthquake shaking levels on various buildings and structures.
These simulations along with my piano music (Spotify/UA-cam: @pardonmypiano ) are part of my lifelong project called "In Terra Pax" that aims to bring financial and emotional support to victims affected by earthquakes around the world.

Cadilac should make this an official ad.
This reminds me of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in Santa Cruz, California with many of the brick buildings.
Awesome bro! The simulations keep on getting better every time!
Yo how do you make these these are so cool :)
Interesting
A quake like what happened in Whittier Narrows in 1987 (5.8m) would be complete catastrophe in NYC. Most of the well built office towers would be fine, but so many of the old buildings made of mortar would collapse within seconds before the shaking would even stop. The death toll would likely be higher than the Cascadia Quake (9.0 to 9.2m) when the time comes. Literally, these buildings made with mortar would crumble and entomb the occupants. I believe buildings like ESB would hold up fine especially for the occupants inside, but the limestone facade would likely crumble in some areas and rain death at countless people below. I am pretty sure the new WTC would be fine even if hit by a much larger quake like we have in CA, simply because of the way its built, with 4' thick concrete core. Turner who built the WTC also built the Intercontinental in DTLA with the same kind of 4' thick core walls.
Historical buildings in Italy be like.
Oh hey Earthquakesim, Its been months I am not commenting to you and watching your vids, Remember me? Im Eryx Matthew
Many people die because of bricks 😭😭
For some reason my brother and I are ant an earthquake to happen here in Southern California.
It’s weird.
OMG
why do we start at intensity 8 and never go up?
