Billy The Kid is now QLD Maroons coach looking at winning 3 series in a row as a coach.
We got this, 3-0 whitewash
That’s dope and I think it’s gonna happen 💪🏾
@@gohammtvI think so to. If QLD take out tomorrow night's opener, it's series over.
I think Billy Slater is next the Wayne Bennet in the making. He is going to be up there with the GOAT coach.
GO THE MIGHTY MAROONS! QUEENSLANDER!!!
3peat loading 💪🏾
I can tell you, that there were genuin fears among the Australian Rubgy League community around Queensland winning 4 series in a row, people were worried that if one team became overly dominant, the other state would lose interest and the spirit of Origin would die. That being said, as a born and raised Queenslander wearing both his heads proudly, go the Maroons!
We got this brah, 3-0 whitewash
State of origin started in 1980 with 1 game each in 1980 and 1981 as an experiment. From 1982 there was a 3 game series each year from then on. The sides were selected from where they were born or first played their senior football, in Qld or Nsw.
Before that the teams were selected by where players were currently playing for club football, either in the Australian states of Queensland or New South Wales. Considering that the money to play was way higher in Nsw most of good players from Qld went to play for clubs in Nsw and in turn had to play for Nsw. That meant the best players from Qld and Nsw were selected for Nsw from 1908 until 1980.
17:06 this guy Billy Slater is now the QLD coach. He got the job just last year for the first time, and we all know he won the series so hes back!!
He first coached QLD in 2022
Best 8 years of my life 🎉🎉🎉
Lesss Gooo Queensland 🎉
I can answer your question about how they pick the players for qld vs Nsw.
1. NSW(Blues) and QLD(Maroons) are 2 States in Australia.
.
Basically they pick the best players from each of those 2 states. They pick it based on mainly form and reputation.
.
Players are selected to represent the Australian state in which they played their first senior rugby league game a player must have been born in NSW or Queensland, or have moved there prior to turning 13 to represent their selected state
@@daveross1638 thank you for the extra info!
This first game coming up is going to be a block-buster.
Can’t wait for it
RESPECT BRO ❤ rugby league is the greatest game, I’m happy your enjoying it as much as us
You should check out Queensland coach Mel Meninga in his playing days, bro....one of the best ever players
I hope you enjoy it man. Go the maroons !
One thing about the 2005 origin was that Nevil Costigan who played number 17 for maroons never played a NRL game when he was selected to play Origin. At the time he was playing second grade footy.
You should react to the latest video of “the inspired unemployed”. They took big hits from Dylan Napa and Angus Crichton, both played for NSW and AUS. Truly depicts the strength of these players compared to average guys.
Also a really good laugh.
Nothing like origin footy. Can’t wait for tonight
LEGENDARY CONTEST! Glad you enjoy it too
Go the mighty QUEENSLAND MAROONS! cmon you QUEENSLANDER!
They have actually been playing since 1908 and NSW owns the record for 21years in a row. Origin is just a partial, tv contract record.
1980 was the first game of state of origin
Thanks bro
@@gohammtv before that, NSW stole all our players before they worked out eligibility rules.
im a NSW fan But Darren LOckyer is probley the greatest rugby player ever
The state of origin started as away to select the australian team .but its just got bigger and bigger ,love it ,our blues have it tonight i hope ,,go the blues .
They pick the best possible current players who played their first ever junior football in qld or nsw. So if they played junior footy in qld, they can’t be picked for nsw
Wherever the players played their first organised football determined the state they represent regardless of where they play currently.
The reason being is that prior to the state of origin concept (1980) New South Wales dominated every single year because the best players in the competition always moved to Sydney. In 1980 they started the concept so that it would give Queensland a competitive chance. In those days, it wasn’t a national sport. The interest was very high in Queensland and state of origin ignited the beginnings of the NRL.
2:42 the way they pick players is based on how well they perform. The place theyre eligible for depends on who they played for to kick off their professional careers in schools. For example, Reece Walsh played for a team in QLD which means he is eligible for Maroons. Usually they pick the best eligible players (also country eligibility comes into play, no NZ players can join)
Someone correct me if Im wrong
Pretty sure a warriors player was selected for blues this year.
@@bodycountplays2915 I mean players that have their alignment with New Zealand.
@@geki4269 yeah not sure of they weren't or not haha, but wasn't thier talk about origin taking nz players I've the last year or two?
@@bodycountplays2915Mitch Barnett is an Australian born in NSW. Playing for the warriors doesn't make him a nzder.
@packfanz2286 except if your Brent Webb lol
On 12 minute, the guy who jumped and scored is Israel falou.. should react to his highlights. He's a complete athlete. He's got both the height and built. He played in 3 different professional codes. He played AFL, Rugby Union and rugby league. And he was good at all of them.
First ever state of origin was in 1980.
And qld dominated ever since 😂
2 day bender - straight over the head - maybe a 2 day "Lager Frenzy" could explain / comprehend it.
Think bender is an Australian thing haha
@@bodycountplays2915 - Nah, also British, but a different thing - You Bender.
finch was also found in possession of child corn
Inaugural state of origin started in 1982 man
QLD: 24 series wins
NSW : 16 series wins.
1980 mate
Going by what Wikipedia says lol
@@bodycountplays2915 Everyone can put their opinions on Wikipedia
@@MicahBell_1860 1982 was when the first three game series was, they did it differntly before that
State of Origin started in 1980@@KalanSpanner In 1982, they started playing a 3 game series (you are right) but it was the same format that started in 2980
Let's go Queensland
Here for the rugby! Welcome to the game they play in heaven brother!🍻🙌💯❤
It isn't like players are signed on 'contracts' so much as they are selected for their representative side. Selections happen every year and basically every player who is eligible hopes to be selected.
It's basically akin to East vs West All Stars basketball games, except its not about what club you play for but where you are from (decided on those eligibility criteria you partially saw in the vid), and its taken MUCH more seriously. It is the most intense and skilful game all year and the passion is like nothing else.
Its great you love state of origin so much muh bruz! GO BLUES!!
GAME 1 2024!!
38 - 10 QUEENSLANDER!!!!❤️🎉🎉💪🏽😎 AHAH! YOU BEAUTAAAYY!!
THAT'S MY TEAM! MY STATE!. LET'S GO!!.❤️🎉💯😎💪🏽
I reacted to game one and loved every minute of it 😂 QUEENSLANDER 💪🏾💪🏾 hope u checkout the reaction to the game as well
Its where you play your junior footy. It's usually up to under 12's i think.
It’s where they play there first game
The coaches pick the sides and to be eligible for each team you have to have played your junior footy in either nsw or qld
I don’t know where people in these comments are getting their answers from about eligibility for State of Origin but it is based on a multitude of factors.
Eligibility doesn’t have to do necessarily with where you were born. I will use QLD for this example but the rules are the same for both states.
If a player was born in Queensland and did the majority of their junior rep football in QLD then they are eligible for QLD state team.
Alternatively If a player was born outside of QLD (they can even be born internationally) but moved to QLD prior to their 13th birthday and have stayed there since then,(as long as they did the majority of their schooling and junior rep football in QLD or even repped QLD in junior years) hence why QLD has multiple players who were born in NSW & NZ (as do NSW.) they are eligible to play for QLD.
If the above criteria is only partially met, players will need to submit an application to the NRL who will review their circumstances and provide an eligibility review.
The above rules however are completely disregarded should you have a parent who also played in the NRL and represented QLD. E.g. if your father played State of Origin for QLD but you were born, raised and played junior football in another state e.g. NSW you get the opportunity, unlike everybody else, to choose which state you would like to nominate to represent in your eligibility application. This is an extremely rare circumstance though as there’s not a lot of father/son players at this time.
The NRL have a table that outlines it if interested.
The term State of Origin doesn’t accurately represent the rules.
Bloody Billy Slater doesn't even play anymore and still f#*king with the Blues. The last thing NSW needs is a team of 'Billy the kid Slaters'. Respect though
Where they play there first game is the state they play for. And its the best players bassed on form
That is true players are from certain states and selection is based on previous performance at club level and representive levels, btw im a queenslander and am looking foward to the game
The team is picked based on your state of origin. Which state you played your junior footy.
Players from any team in the nrl are picked to play for their eligible state.
2:30, The team of coaches (managers) decide together to pick the squad with the head coach finalizing the team. It pretty much all depends on who is the head coach, So the (head) coaches that picked the QLD team is Billy Slater, who was recently a former QLD player himself, and the head coach for NSW is Michael Maguire. The fans don't get a part to choose the side which I think happens in the NBA. Also origin sides are mainly picked on form. Love the questions and up the mighty blues!!!
The gotta be mighty to be called mighty though 😝 they been pretty unmighty lately
LETS GO THE MIGHTY BLUES. NSW NSW NSW BABY!
State of Origin has been playing since 1980
Its crazy to think that QLD have won 14/18 State OF Origins.
Ingles the king one of the all time origin greats

So they select the players based on where they first played 1st grade footy
UP THE BLUES!!!
Down the poos
You have to be born in QLD or NsW to play or from where you started playing junior footy …
Bro just get a south sydney jersey and hit up that dude in last Vegas go the BUNNIES
State of Origin is essentially the All-Stars game of the NRL but players have an eligibility criteria to fit first before being selected. Players must pledge their allegiance to the Kangaroos (Australia's National team), not have represented any other country at representative level or have played club rugby for a team in the state they wish to pledge to before the age of 13. The rules have been bent multiple times by both teams but thats neither here nor there
And unlike the nba all stars, the players actually care lol
Nsw won 2014 but.... 2015 game 3 is forever eched in blues nightmares
It’s been going since 1980
Lol. 4 (Paul) galion per (Nate) mile. Usa conversion.

You should watch NSW 2014
Question: can you guys watch The State Of Origin live from the US?
1980 this series started.

Let’s go QLD
be careful streaming NRL on twitch bro, they've been banning a lot of the streams recently
Go NSW⭕⭕⭕
False advertising, our game is soft as now
Queensland only won 1 between 1999-2006. Noonee talks about that. Just saying.
I'M sure that background elevator music/tune was as distracting and annoying as 99% of viewers would think. A young fellow describing 21 games. Do's not give it justice. Nothing to do with your reactions , all the best. Ken Arthurson Said Brookvale Oval was the home of Rugby league. Queenslanders had a problem with that geriatric Dictator. Lang Park was the home to us. Even after they said our comp was dead. ua-cam.com/video/kaMIRJhgkdc/v-deo.html
Still a great documentary though
State of origin is a 3 game series.. so blues won 3 series before 2006
8 years in a row of winning 2 of 3 games
