This is one recipe I love. I was lucky enough to have a mum from Scotland who made this. The best bit was scraping the pan after it had cooled, before the main event was chilled! Delicious!
My Mum's Granny would make this treat for her, when she was little. I have also made this lovely Scottish tablet, but only since my Mum died, I know, I do upset myself about that, that sadly she didn't get to try mine and I've made some fabulous batches and some not so fabulous batches. The mixture has to be stirred perfectly and exactly just so, to get the correct consistency and that crumbly texture. With mine I add also a dash of vanilla essence, which I think makes it just lovely :-)
I adore tablet, but I've diabetes so it's really not good for me, although I occasionally am naughty. When I've made it I faffed about with a thermometer and poured a little into a cup of cold water to see if it would form a ball. Your way is so simple, thanks so much 💖
I have condensed milk, tomorrow I will make some Scottish Tablet. When I was a kid, we called it ‘ Swiss Milk Toffee’ either name, I love it!🏴🇨🇦🤞
I have not heard of Scottish tablet before. I am a bit Leary of making this as once before I used that condensed milk and that was all I could taste. But I will try this though, it will be interesting and this cook knows what he is doing. Maybe that is how you make the coconut ice that I used to have when I was little. Do you have a video to make coconut ice?
I can imagine this would be lovely with a dash of vanilla extract. I've never made candy before but this looks easy enough that even I couldn't muck it up!
Great recipe and instructions were very simple to follow, although the strong accent was a little hard to understand, so i had to keep going back and listening closely 😂 u earn a subscription man 👊
Looks great takes me back to my childhood in Scotland
Me too! 🙋♀️🏴🇨🇦

A nice soft fudge type. Carmel
Memories. My Scottish mother would make this often. Her handwritten recipe called it Swiss milk tablet.

Oh yummy yummy
Mmmmm Tablet YUMMY YUM!😋
If this is similar to fudge, can I put some chopped walnuts in it?
Would live to make this, but the grandkids are hyper enough they would go through the roof lol. What I would like is your take on potato scone.
Looks delicious. Any chance of a low calorie sugar free version for us diabetics?
I can have a look for you but not sure
There are granulated sweeteners out there that should work in stead of the sugar but I doubt there's an alternative for the condensed milk

I got tickled at your caution on giving to wee ones before bed.

There’s a lot of diabetes in Bonny Scotland!!!
This is no where near tablet 😕 its more fudge
Thats the palest worst tablet I’ve ever saw. It’s just not right. The colour and texture are awful. Please try again and update your video.
