    Very informative video Vidya, you have covered important points. Just putting it out there that there is a support group called Breastfeeding Support for Indian Mothers(BSIM) on Facebook. It was a life saver and such a confidence builder. There are mothers and mother-moderators who help out with all kind of doubts/problems with respect to breastfeeding. Because of this group I could exclusively breastfeed my son for 6months and still going strong. I did this without any help at home for 4 of those 6 months. Please check it out :)

    Breastfeeding doesn’t come naturally to everyone. This is so so true. I tried breastfeeding my first kid but I failed when everyone said , oh.....it’s natural, why did u fail to do it. It left me with so much guilt. With my second one I tried to get as much knowledge as I can and finished 1 month of successful breastfeeding. I don’t know how long I can do it but i definitely feel it as an achievement.
    I use nipple shield too. When baby sleeps while feeding they don’t latch properly but nipple shield helps to get good latch even when the baby sleeps during feeding.

    • @Feelgoodmama
      @Feelgoodmama  5 років тому

      Good for you for getting it the second time, and don't feel guilty about not doing it the first time, you did your best, and will always do so for both your kids, it maybe in different ways but doesn't make it any less. People will always find things to say. You won't believe it, but I heard comments for breastfeeding for too long! Congrats on you second little one mama!

    Very helpful. My baby is 2 months old and I have a midwife. I wish she told me some of the things. Even at the hospital no one told us how to breastfeed. I ended up giving formula from the getgo. Wtf. No wonder it's been difficult. Appreciate your insight!

      @@Feelgoodmama after 2 months it still takes 40min of sucking each breast for my baby to be satisfied. Even after that, most of the time he's hungry and then I need to feed formula (120ml-150ml on average).
      When I pump I only get 10-20ml per breast so I gave up on it. I get more from hand pumping but not enough to sustain him.
      Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I know the latch is correct cuz the midwife inspected it. I take Fennel tea, Malt beer, oats and lots of water. I feed him every 2-3 hrs.
      At nights, my husband feeds our baby formula milk once.
      Any ideas? I don't have thyroid or diabetes issues. Just fyi, I had a c section and it was painful healing and breast milk came in a week. We fed our baby formula from getgo. I had no idea I should've breastfed him continuously for milk to flow 😒

    • @Feelgoodmama
      @Feelgoodmama  5 років тому +1

      Looks like you're doing everything right. Formula is not the worst thing, so don't stress too much. For someone who started with formula, you're doing really great by breastfeeding as much as you can, so do as much as you can and relax.

    Hi Vidya. Nice information. Can you tell me during night feedings my baby just wakes me once. My baby prefers only one breast at a time and so what happens for example if I feed at 9:30pm and then another at 4:30am and another at 6:30am so the time gap for one breast is almost 9-10hrs. What do you suggest about the long gap during night. Pediatrician suggested no need of waking her up and feeding unless she asks as she is gaining good weight

My little boy is now 2.5 months old and I've been using a nipple shield as he could not latch on the bare breast. I'm trying to wean him from the shield now. I would like to know your experience on weaning your baby from the nipple shield. How long did it take your baby to breastfeed directly? And how did your baby respond to it?

The taste is very different so it takes time for the baby to get used to it. I tried giving him the taste with a spoon. After a few weeks he got used to it, and now he loves it. Breast feeding is my endless nightmare .. My first baby is 20 days today and I still can't find a comfortable position for both of us ! , I don't know when I should/n't b feed my baby and how many times ! really depressed & I feel selfish and bad all the time ! I've been learning so many tasks with my baby for the first time and I am sucessful so far at them all , so I feel breast feeding is a burden and a distraction !! I even feel so bad when I talk this way !

      Oh dear, you are not alone in feeling down, many women go through baby blues a few weeks after delivery. I have too, see my video on postpartum experience. And breastfeeding will fall into a rhythm slowly, for now, just feed often when the baby is awake and rooting (google it), and burp after. It gets easier in a few weeks, hang in there!

    Hi vidya maam. I delivered a baby girl last week. I want to know how often we need to feed our baby. The docs at the hospital advised to feed atleast within two hour and even early as required . But here in my home my sister in law and other are forcing me to feed Every half an hour. According to them baby tounge will get dry. Even when she sleep they ask me to wake her up. I dont find this right. I think sleep is also equally important for babies growth. Plz share ur advise. Waiting for ur rply.

    • @Feelgoodmama
      @Feelgoodmama  5 років тому

      I'm not a doctor and don't know your baby's weight so can't give advise. But in my case we were feeding whenever baby woke up, which was between every 1-2 hours. If he didn't wake up after 2-3 hours I would wake him to feed. This was only in the initial 1-2 weeks. After that, he got back to his birth weight and my milk production increased, and feeding was every 2-3 hours.

      Hey just another viewer here.. don't give up. Have you asked your doctor about pumping? You can do that while still getting your baby to latch so that your milk supply stays up. There's nothing wrong with formula feeding but if you want to breastfeed, there are plenty of options to consider before you decide to give up. You are not alone !

    • @8663ra
      @8663ra 5 років тому

      I am pumping whatever I can but it seems like all the healthcare workers + mothers make it seem like you can eventually breastfeed if u keep trying.
      I am starting to accept reality and be happy that I have a healthy baby.
