@debbief5951 I bought clear gell for canning with the intention of water bath canning apple pie filling. I can't water bath this year, so think I'll freeze and then when I'm ready to make a pie, I'll make the apple pie filling and that should thicken it up nicely!!
I watched this in bed with my son who has bad anxiety, your soothing voice and calm demeanour was just what he and I needed!! Thank you so much for all the videos you make, you truly are an angel Kimmy. Greetings from Ireland. 🙏🇮🇪❤️
If you’d lined the glass pie dishes with cling film, filled, cover, frozen then when it came to packing them they’d already be wrapped up ready for the outer bag, you’d likely fit 2 per bag too as the paper bulk wouldn’t be an issue. And I agree, always do double the spices!! Yum!!!
My luck I wouldn't be able to get all the plastic wrap off the frozen pie filling before I put it in the crust. Someone needs to make a round pie size freezer bag ☺. Since they are thicker it might work for me.. that way I could set it in warm water to loosen the plastic from the pie filling first. 🙃
The apple pie filling wasn't wrapped is saran wrap it was wrapped in parchment with will not stick to the filling. Apple crisp was put into aluminum baking pans making them oven ready, they had saran wrap over the top of the pans then aluminum foil over that to make a tighter seal. When removing crisp from freezer make sure to remove saran wrap first then put foil back on for baking. Saran wrap will not have stuck to the crumble on the crisp. Hope this was informative
Adding chopped pecans to the topping give it a nice boost of goodness. Also, when i make crisps, i always make several times the recipe and freeze it. That way, i have a supply of topping on hand. I only have to peel apples and go. 👍
They look delicious! I've never frozen my apple crisp before, but will now! I used to make my fruit pies ahead of the holiday and freeze them, but I just made the pies, crust and all, and wrapped them well. Then, the morning of the holiday, all I had to do was pull them out of the freezer and bake them. Great video! You've inspired me to get ahead on my holiday baking.
You sure made that look easy! Everything looks beautiful and delicious. Have a great week Kimmy, thank you for the motivation to start prepping for the holidays.
I have done this before. It was wonderful and a huge timesaver. Loved being able to make a fresh pie at the drop off a hat. Also, make your crust ahead and freeze that too! Will try the apple crisp as it looks yummy! Thanks!
Hello Beautiful Lady! Hope you’re having a fantastic day! What a fabulous idea for a short cut to delicious desserts! Yum! Just a small tip that I recently learned when using parchment paper, trying to get it to stay in an ungreased dish is difficult, so if you scrunch the paper up in your hands first, then smooth it out to fit your mould, it stays put much easier.
You're apple crisp recipe has been in my recipe book since day one. We love it. I double the topping and freeze half for the next time we make it. We just moved to box elder county with family, so I will be making this for them for the first time. Have a blessed Sunday Kimmy and Fam💗
When I used to make and can applesauce I saved all the trimmings and kept them in the freezer. Then at Christmastime I used some of those peelings with orange peels and whatever spices I had and simmered on the stove to make the house smell good.
Great idea freezing the dessert filling!! Loved the video!! And t h e bloopers are funny...they add humor & take away seriousness & we all need to laugh!!!
Hi Kimmy 🙋🏻♀️ That apple crisp topping sounds similar to something we make here in South Africa. It's called "South African Crunchies". I do hope you give it a try, it is so simple and so dangerously delicious 🤤 In a bowl add 2 cups rolled oats, 1 cup all purpose flour, 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup fine shredded coconut and mix well. On the stovetop melt 230g salted butter, add in a tablespoon of golden syrup (I'm not sure if maple syrup or honey can work). When bubbling add a teaspoon of baking soda and mix. Pour this mixture over the dry ingredients and mix so that it's all coated in the butter mixture. Pour this mixture into a baking sheet or oven proof dish. The size of the dish will determine the thickness of the crunchies. It shouldnt be too thick around 3-4cm but doesnt really matter. Place in a 180C degrees oven for 15-20minutes or until golden. Take out of oven and cut immediately in the dish onto squares. Allow to cool completely and then enjoy. It should be crunchy and buttery with a toffee flavour. WARNING: IT IS ADDICTIVE!!!!
I just looked up your last video on freezing pie filling! Michigan has a lot of yummy apples now, I froze 4 pie fillings and 6 apple crisps. Going to be so good on a cold winter day.
I love making apple pies for thanksgiving but I use 5 types of apples when making my filling! but I’m going to make a crisps and a apple danishes this year with my 3 kids. Along with pumpkin pies and bars
Kimmy, It likely may not apply with the apples but when using a batter it really helps. Crumple your parchment paper before placing in the dish. It’ll help the paper stay in place.
I made and froze the apple crisp. I baked one, and it is the best Apple Crisp I have ever made. All of my family loved it just as much. Thank you for sharing! Yummy!
You're just too cute! Good job. I made a water/juice reductions from the apple ends I cut up for dehydrating.....and when I made a boxed spice cake, I used that instead of plain water. It elevated that box cake to apple fritter AMAZINGNESS. I also added a splash of hazelnut flavoring to the tub of cream cheese frosting. I love FALL and using preps AND not wasting anything. 🍏🍎🍏
Consider placing the pre-frozen apples in a Ziploc bag or (with or without the freezer paper depending on the final shape you want )and placing that into your bowl for the freezer. You can shape the apples within the bag around the bowl as you referenced so that they do take the shape of the bowl and they are contained within the freezer Ziploc Hmmm place the top freezer paper into bag once set and shape to cover .As I saw the end of the video I rewrote the end of this post let me know how it works out 💕 I like that idea of prepare ahead. Thank you to your mom for paying attention when she was being taught so many of the “skilz” have been forgotten and thank you for what you do.👌🏽
Hi Kimmy, I found something that helps to tame the parchment paper. Try to ball it up like a piece of paper and the smooth it out over the dish/pan. This helps it to conform to the shape/size of the pan and not move around.
Kimmie this is definitely a winner! I’m in charge of the turkey every year and usually buy a apple lattice pie from Sam’s club because I’ve never successfully made a crust that I like. But, I’ll definitely be giving your apple crisp recipe a try this year. 😋
I just put my crisp in the oven, I browned my butter before I added it to the topping, I can't wait to taste it. It was hard packing all that topping on the apples lol, but I got it all on there
Drinking coffee before heading to church while watching your video 😁. I’m definitely going to make up the apple crisp recipe. That looks good! Maybe with a pumpkin pie cake. Yum.
Kimmie you are a master chef and baker! 👩🏻🍳 I loved your video. Looks fun. You inspired me.I’ve never made an apple pie ,but am motivated to try it. Do you make your own crust as well or use a ready made? That is daunting…lol…Thank you for the timing of this video . Preparing well in advance for the holiday desserts is so helpful and tackles the stress of becoming overwhelmed, so we can just enjoy. I always create a pacing guide and found it useful . 🥧👩🏻🍳👏🏽🙏🏽🍂🍁
KIM, love your planner from in the leafy treehouse. Using it constantly and before I buy the one from in the leafy treehouse, will you be having a new planner for 2022?
Yum! Apple crisp and pie are my fav go to desserts. Way to go getting ahead. I’ve got my Apple pie filling in the freezer too. Now that you are ahead you should try making your own pie crust! 😊
I am very interested in starting a preppers pantry for my family. I watched a video from four years ago and you were showing a printable monthly checklist, from LDS, of things to do and get. Could you explain to me how I can find them and show me what they look like, if at all possible, so I know what I am looking for? I love watching you! Your joyful but calming spirit is WONDERFUL!
I’m going to the Apple farm Tuesday and am so excited to put up some apple pies in the freezer! Is it possible to get the recipe for the crisp in the comments? Love love love your channel

need to link from where to buy the apron! Thanks!
My mind is blown! Freezing apples in a pie dish is such a good idea. Kimmy, you're a clever lady and an awesome cook.
I did this last year...it works, however, even with the corn starch the mixture is watery. So it’s good, but definitely not as good as fresh.
So glad I watched this before freezing my pie filling!! Freezing them in pie dishes genius ❤️🙌🏼🙏 thank you!!

Mmmm....these look so yummy! And I'm in love with freezing the apples in the pie plate! Game changer!
Apple crisp is a staple in our home, this time of year. I have used your recipe and we really enjoy it.
Thanks so much Kimmy. I may attempt a pie this year. Could you put a gallon freezer bag in the pie plate to freeze and skip a step?
I was wondering about that too!
I make a very similar apple crisp, except I add a little diced candied ginger in with the crumble topping. It is next level good!
Thx for the great video. ❤️ I love how you add extra cinnamon to your goodies, I do the same thing.
I will definitely make the apple crisp for Thanksgiving & maybe Christmas! Thanks for sharing!! ♡
Omg kimmy I was waiting for the videos where you start prepping for the holidays
I just looked up your last video on freezing pie filling! Michigan has a lot of yummy apples now, I froze 4 pie fillings and 6 apple crisps. Going to be so good on a cold winter day.

Good morning Kimmy! Happy Sunday 😊. These are going to be deeeeelicious 🥧. Love the idea of freezing the apples 👍🏻. Enjoy the day! ☺️
We call it apple crumble in uk we love it with custard or vanilla icecream ...yum x
I use clear gel instead of cornstarch. This gives a really pretty clear filling.
Love your channel you keep me inspired 🍎

In New Zealand we call the last recipe Apple Crumble. But I never add sugar to it as its sweet anyway and I prefer it more tangy than sugary sweet.
Thank you so much for this, I love both apple pie & crisp so I am excited to try both of these. ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
Looks yummy
Another great video Kimmy! I love your hair! Super cute!!!
Thanks!
I can see where the Food Saver would come in handy here for the apples. Your video and explanation is honestly the best I found yet. Thanks!!

Great job
We call the apple crisps an apple crumble in thr uk top with ice cream or nice vanilla custard
Yum! Apple crisp and pie are my fav go to desserts. Way to go getting ahead. I’ve got my Apple pie filling in the freezer too. Now that you are ahead you should try making your own pie crust! 😊
That’s a must in my opinion. It’s worth it.
If you crumple the parchment paper in your hands first it will mold easier to the round pie plates.
I am very interested in starting a preppers pantry for my family. I watched a video from four years ago and you were showing a printable monthly checklist, from LDS, of things to do and get.
