I live in Sweden and have heard these girls for some time. When I heard them for my first time, I was just like flabbergasted and didnt think is was true. I actually thought it was like from a digital thing, It was like no humans could sound like that. Then when I learned, and watched, their musical skills I just said oh wow! I can't say much more, really.
These girls have been a favourite of mine for several years now, but when I come back to 'em after a break, the sheer beauty of their close harmony steals my bones away.
Wish they would cover the Pixies! Havalina or Velouria might be the best candidates. (OP currently has a Pixies avatar, in case this comment is unearthed hundreds of years from now and their avatar is different and anyone is wondering why I changed the subject.)

My teeanage son ran to see a band i just sat and listened to the young ladies, and loving both Gram Parsons and Johnny Cash was so blown away I teared up and realized that the world is getting better and the future is very bright.

I think it's adorable how Dave calls them kids. I grew up watching Dave and Paul since the early 80's so they are kids to me also. Wonderfully talented kids.
To be fair, these harmonies aren't from Europe, they're true American country folk music. However, I wish the current country music scene still had harmonies like this.

They're really good live! A recording simply does not do them justice. If you like them I highly suggest to go to one of their concerts as they really are something amazing, plus tickets are usually inexpensive :)

Oh I wish I had followed them from the beginning. They have sold out their UK tour, wish I had a ticket now. I read an article in The Rolling Stone Magazine that they had picked the ten best acts, singers that have come out during the last decay and First Aid Kit wpould be on that list. No, not really. I had a check on the Swedish Music scene and that country is packed with talents. All kinds of Music R&B, House, Metal, Indie, Pop not to mention their song writers and producers.

Hits for Britney Spears, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Back Street Boys and many many others.

The structure and progressions are coutry songwriting 101 and as they knew people who played and listened to a lot of old country music, they've picked up a lot of the cliches like bending their Bs, vocally mimicing slide guitar voicings. I think it just shows how easy it is to write a country song, their more original work is far better and much more interesting.

My point is that to call it 'remarkable' is patronising. Why shouldn't they write a good song, people wouldn't say it was 'remarkable' if an old guy had written it. Without straying too far from the topic I'll start with Folsom Prison Blues... might take a while to look through the next 60years of country music but i think i'll find a few.
