Now THAT'S the kind of video's I love watching! Thanks August. Since I'm living and working in a city that's mostly what I do. No heavy rigging and huge machines. Can't wait for the pruning video.
Thank you August. Sometimes I wonder if you realize how many questions you answer through your narration and the tree work that you might consider insignificant. I learned quite a bit about safety on this one just from watching. Champion on my friend 🏆
Nice video with showing us how you tackle these situations. The reason why I watch this channel. Always great content and lots for me to take in and learn from. Thanks for that!
all right! ... a pruning video coming up! Great video... I was with you with every movement, cut, handling the limbs, thinking through it all from my own limited experience. I'm just about resigned that I might never really be doing this sort of thing... even on small trees... bummer... but getting older, changing priorities, making best use of time... I think I must needs be pulling away from pursuing this work (the climbing anyway... learning curve)... but I still love watching these videos focused and imagining myself making every move.
Knees high!! That’s why some truckers put their seats low. It’s easier on the back. Key for my back is not to stay in one spot too long. Another great video!! Loved the whole video
That was beautiful August. There's just no substitute for experience. You make it look so easy. I was anxious for you up there were the wood was so small.
"Ooh, I hit a guy down there." That's why we wear these stylish hats! It isn't JUST to look Fabulous! There are so many pine needles on the neighbor's roof, I can not imagine that needles have not been getting into that pool as well. Was this removal inspired in part as a way to improve neighborly relations? Our Brother says "Climb higher and cut smaller" August has an ancillary to that axiom: "Climb higher and cut lighter!"Thank you for another post, some people MAY have been going into withdrawals! Stay safe my Brother!
I appreciate you posting up videos like this of "small removals". I am very familiar with the "freestyle cutting" or I usually say cut and chuck. Having those tiny drop zones always keeps your limb toss skills at a high level eh??? 😉 Sorry to hear your back is still bothering you. I'm praying you'll get some relief sooner rather than later. And the landscaping in that yard really does look great. Thanks again for sharing a bit of your day. Keep yourself safe my friend. Randy
No hand strength left. So I am not allowed to run a chainsaw. So I listen to your. Love it. My son says I am crazy, I loved cutting wood. Thanks for the knowledge , just wishes for the smell. Lol
Deep face cut at 20:20 is a good trick to know. I use 2 slings sometimes to lower a small top like that one. “But if you can do then do it” lol. Thank you for sharing your videos 👊
I started climbing this year as an amateur for work around the house, I've learned a lot from your vids. Biggest tree I've done so far was a badly leaning 100ft Black Locust. I cut two 30ft tops out of it, I tell you there's nothing better than dropping limbs and tops exactly where you want them to go.
I do the same thing I started out climbing in line clearance late 90s and a lot of the guys with the 16 in tall boots would wrap it around the boot just didn't seem like it tighten the spur up close enough for me I always did it up there👍. the 16in Hoffman's back in the 90s I wear the 16 inch tall red dogs now. Thanks for sharing great videos
Great film August :) I also love it when I can manage without rigging. Birch is definately best wood around here (Norway inland) to do magic with.. Love the sound of your little Echo. I asked Richard nicely, and he made me a couple also :)
Ah yes the dreaded small drop zone. Lol whenever we pull out the hand saws guys think it’s safe now. Thank goodness it was only a small branch. I love me handsaw. Props Hunicke take care of your back brother.
one knee up versus standing long periods with both legs extended fully, is easier on the back . we're not designed to stand in one place too long, be it in a tree or the ground . especially with all the years of hard work you've lived .
Being 60 years old and having a bad back I understand where and how it hurts especially using a saw, but my saws are a little bit heavier, I do like that little echo you use. Personally I haven't cut much this year, only out at my sister's house, 3 foot diameter beech and a 2 foot diameter maple, the beech uprooted during a storm and the maple was just dead. If I had your nerves I could climb tree's, so needless to say I drop them ( without damaging other live tree's) keep up the faith August, stay safe and keep up on the videos when you are safe to make them 🤓
Jaidyn Marklow “Excuse me” lmao did I some how offended you by trying to humiliate somebody because they were being ignorant he said he fell a sleep reading a comment that wasn’t made for him the reason I said ya but who ask was because I new it was meant for the UA-camr
I've seen a tip for stabilizing the climbers that have Velcro on the upper part of the climbers. They're running the boot strap underneath the gaff before strapping them to your boots. It anchors them to your foot better without slipping.
Huh. . . guess I don't have to do that since I have to drill a lower hole to make the shin pads fit me on now 2nd pair of spurs. That puts them on the MASSIVE calves of a guy that is 5' 4" and 118lbs.
I realize you have all the experrriance and what not but one day you will show your stunt double ROFL! Seriously, awesome job and the MVP not the calves, but the Echo, Rich got the thing running like it’s on drag race fuel!
August i have been doing tree for 20yrs and starting to get into some new techniques of climbing as well of safety practices but still find it hard not to one hand to cut and grab. I've heard some refer to you as bit of a cowboy for this. I feel its acceptable curious to your thoughts on it. I would like to work with you guys sometime if I ever made out that way.
I agree 👍 know your limits and work to them. Your videos are awsome my family makes fun of me I broke them on the big screen at Thanksgiving. Hell just watching big trees get disemble with crane and ran thru the big chipper gets me fired up. I say send it
Wow you're using the hell out of the 2511t, damn man I'd just bought my 355t and am still happy w/ my 25cc g2500-clone (10" ;P ) but everytime I see one of your newer vids, and you taking that guy up as-default such a high%, makes it harder & harder to hold-off of buying one when they're just $399... What mods does yours have? Is it running a 1/4" pitch setup? Gah that powerhead is just something else I've gotta get one, already told myself I was buying a 620p next week it's going to be tough-as-hell to be in the dealer and buying something while the 2511 leers at me from the wall :P
I just climb up A little higher than I’m working each time and set the line. That way I have better work positioning. There’s no magic trick. Just go a little above the work area, set line, then work the area and go up some more.
I really impressed like the way you and your crew work together that's y your a successful team I can't stay steady enough in my area nobody has money working for davey tree ashplunda and Pennline ecpelly make me want to. make it working for myself any advise is welcomed please though a word of wisdom
I'm going to take a mechanical stab at this. If I'm not mistaken I believe they file the keyway notch on the forward side of the flywheel which triggers the ignition coil to fire the spark plug sooner. It puts the piston in a different position at the time of the spark plug firing. (anybody feel free to slap me down)
He could also be referring to port timing, if you move the top and bottom edges of the ports up or down, you change the times that the ports are opened by the piston, hence altering the timing, particularly the exhaust port, changing where in the rev range the engine is producing the bulk of its power.
Now THAT'S the kind of video's I love watching! Thanks August. Since I'm living and working in a city that's mostly what I do. No heavy rigging and huge machines.
Can't wait for the pruning video.
I love this video, and especially the happines in the voice and smile on the face. You're like Rocky the flying squirrel with a Panther bar.
At the start of the video, Rocky The Flying Squirrel shows up and says, “And now, here's something we hope you'll really like” ;)
Can you explain the set up and mods on your echo saw?
Thank you August. Sometimes I wonder if you realize how many questions you answer through your narration and the tree work that you might consider insignificant. I learned quite a bit about safety on this one just from watching.

"August Hunicke does snap cuts?!" 😆👏
Man, I can't wait to do my first traverse. Y'all make this stuff look so easy. Much respect!
You gotta go two hands...Not on the saw....on the limb😂👍
Luv it!

I am so jealous of the modified 2511. Next time I'm in Oregon I know where I'm making a stop...
I really like mine. Not modified though. It's so light and easy to maneuver.
Do you set the idle higher than usual? His seemed high - I guess, I'm no expert.
@@mrpesky163 idle is fine. He said the exhaust and timing are modified which it why it sounds different
Why not just call in to order it?
I love mine. I barely use my 201 anymore just when i absolutely need it
I simply love to watch a true journeyman work! Learn a lot from you thanks bro, keep the vids coming.
I like your impromptu saw holder in 22:10;) those branches were the perfect cradle for a quick rest!
That was beautiful August. There's just no substitute for experience. You make it look so easy. I was anxious for you up there were the wood was so small.

Hope your elbow heals up, we need more videos! 😀 its fun watching you work, no matter if its craning a monster or a dusty aspen.
On your echo 2511-t, what’s the biggest bar size you use 14”?
12

Like for the tip on the spur pads. I have the same pads and I always found it hard to tighten the top strap because the aluminum is so rigid.
I live in the north valley. I like the parts of your videos where you pan the surrounding area. I try to figure out where you were working.
I'm exhausted August it's bloody tough sitting watching you work.
Awesome work. A worthy "Well Done" from Queensland Australia.

That aspen wobbling gave me the ebbie jeibies. You guys are crazy nuts but somehow sane.
Your channels doing well, when I finished watching this video it gained 468 views. Good one.

August are you not bothered by the small gas tank on the echo 2551t ? I recently got one at work and it just runs out slightly to fast I feel 😥
It’s so light tho so I like it.
How did you get the line up the tree ? You never show that suddenly its there.
