      @@Smokinskittles I was sitting there not realizing I needed to loosen the tensioner. First video that popped up was yours, and boom it worked lol I had a solid 10-15 min like wow this isn’t gonna work at all. The drive belt I’m still very hesitant to do😂

    This is one of the best Video's done for Belts. I felt the drawn mapping diagram was the best part as a visual aid to understanding this job. Liked the note to seat the Alternator Drive Belt in place on the Crank Drive Pulley below first and then pulling the belt up onto the Alternator & Guide Pulley's. Also noting the removal of the Alternator's pivot bolt to get the new belt on easier later.
    NOTE: I could understand how the old worn belts over time would need to be re-tensioned out a few times over time. Therefore, to put a new belt on you would need to loosen everything up significantly more to get the new belts on than you did to take the old belts off.
    The Serpentine Belt installation looked opposite of the Drive Belt, in that you put it on into place onto the Compressor Pulley, Tension Guide and Power Steering pulley's above first and then put it onto the Crank Drive Pulley from under the car after. Frank Miller's Comment about the power steering bolt. Yes, before un-tensioning the tension by the tension adjustment bolt to release the belt tension, the top & bottom bolts should also be loosened first. If not, the Belt tension bolt shouldn't be able to release the Belt tension. If it did un-tension the belt without loosening them other bolts first, then the last person failed to properly tighten them back down after tensioning the belt with the tension adjuster bolt. It's to help lock the belt tension down into place. I believe that was Frank's comment point to very significant.
    I didn't see anything about how to check if the belt tensions were correctly set. Maybe another video?

    Heads up to all of you watching this: The smooth pulleys are reverse rotation and the ribbed pulleys are forward, in terms of belt direction. Smooth is for the top of the belt with the logo, part number, etc, the grooved pulleys are for the bottom of the belt with the ribs. If you can't figure out what direction to route it (general rule), use that as a tip.
    Thanks, smokin. I have a Galant and I couldn't figure out how the hell to even get to the belts. This helps!

    One minor, yet significant, correction. If you are able to loosen your power steering belt by simply loosening the bolt at the front of the motor, then the last person that changed the belt did not finish the job properly. The nut that is underneath the power steering pump and in a little bit further is the back of the tensioner pulley. That bolt absolutely must be tightened after the proper tension has been put on the belt. That is the bolt that holds the tensioner pulley to the tensioner mechanism. It's the bolt used to remove the tensioner pulley and if it's loose you will experience premature belt and/or pulley wear/destruction.

    • @txsurfnturf
      @txsurfnturf 2 роки тому +2

      I noticed that too.
      For those who may not understand, I will sum it up this way: there is an adjustment nut ( the one she loosened), and a lock nut (the one she did not bother with.) The lock nut ensures that the adjustment bolt will not move.

I saw where you went to a junkyard to figure out how to take some trim off I believe which was very smart cause you don't want to mess up your own car trying to figure it out. I did that to figure out how to take my dash apart cause as you probably know already the dash pieces are like china and break just looking at them.

    Hi, i have a question. The bolt you loose on the bottom of the alternator is the 14 mm? From under the car do you go counter clockwise? The space there is kind of tight so I couldn’t get it loose. My bolt also seems stuck there so ill try some oil on it to see if it helps 😩but i also had the doubt to which way to go....also the bolt to loose the tension on the other belt...on your there is nothing blocking it. On my(2004) there is a hard wiring or tube right in front of it 😩 great video btw!

      SmokinSkittles I tried today but no luck! The pivot bolt nut wont budge... Defeated by a bolt. Im annoyed bc the belt was $13 and i got everything out as I should. I just really don’t feel like paying to tow and to get it fixed in a shop because they have a impact wrench 🤣 but if it comes to it, ill accept. Maybe afterwards ill invest on a cordless impact as well. Thank you so much for doing an awesome video on cars though. It only proves that “she thought she could so she did!” Is so true and gender abilities are really overrated . We can always paint our nails after we clean the car oil grease from our hands ❤️💪💅🏽
